If You Knew Then What You Know Now...

This is a lifestyle change. You will be eating high protein, low carbs & low fat the rest of your life. You will only keep this weight off if you continue to eat this way. It is not a magic pill but a tool to lose weight.
  2. It can be a stall if you are getting the right amount of protein & water but not too many carbs plus the right amount of exercising. I am at just over 1 year & have been still losing & still having stalls. But I do log what I am eating & trying to stay under a 1000 calories.
  3. I am just over a year out & have been still losing a small amount each month. I think our bodies will stop when it is ready to stop. I just keep doing what I have been doing from the beginning. It is slow & steady. I also have seen other people who are still losing after the one year mark.

    WHY am I so COLD?

I have no idea what causes it, but I went from cold to freezing all the time. My fat never kept me warm before the RNY surgery & the weight loss doesn't help. I've talked to several people that had WLS years ago & they still are cold. So I don't know if there is much hope of feeling warmer. I just bring a sweater or coat with me.
  6. I walk 45 minutes a day. I know that I didn't exercise that much before. I feel so much better & plan to do for the rest of my life.

    Changed my surgeon

Good that you found a surgeon that answered your questions & July is in just 2 months. You will be glad that you are taking charge of your life.
  8. I heard that acid reflux is bad with the sleeve, just like the lap band. I had GERD for over 22 years prior to RNY. I have not had any acid reflux since surgery 9/2016.

    complications

I have been having a burning mouth when I brush my teeth. My dentist is sending me to a specialist. I have rashes in mouth, like it is burnt. I am low on vitamin A. I have had for about one month. I am almost 5 months post op. I have had this before surgery when I ate too much of something.

    Scared all of the sudden

I had nights of fear before my RNY. I had so much trouble sleeping because I just didn't know the unknown. I am so glad that I did it for my health. I just had to make myself do it.
  11. Before my surgery I liked the vanilla & strawberry Premier Protein shakes, so I bought a bunch of it for after surgery. After my surgery, I couldn't stand the taste. So I had to returned it. I like flavorless GENEPRO & I add it to SF hot coco or herbal tea.

    Hair Loss

I am 14 weeks post op & having the same problem. Hair is coming out in clumps. I am also taking my vitamins plus biotin. Hopefully it gets better.

    Sugar

We are to stay away from eating sugar. No more than 2 to 3 grams per serving.

    My taste buds have changed

I liked all the Premier Protein shakes before surgery, but after surgery I can't stand the taste either. I use GENEPRO unflavored Protein Powder. It has 30 grams of protein. I like to mix with SF hot coco, herbal tea or broth.

    No Hairloss?

I am just past 3 months post op & my hair is coming out in clumps. Hopefully this gets better.

    Dry skin 3.5wks po

I am 3 months post op & almost from the beginning I went from oil skin to dry skin. My face is so dry. I have been using St. Ives Timeless Skin for my face. I also use the cream lotion from Bath & Body works for rest of body.

    Catheter ?

Why do you think that they will put in catheter? I had my RNY in Sept & no catheter. I have had catheter 2 times before & didn't hurt. Don't worry no big deal.

    Sex

My original paperwork said 3 weeks.

    Tied to the bathroom

I am 11 weeks post op & do drink all my water each day. I don't go to the bathroom anymore than I did before. But I never went as much as you do. I can wait for hours & hours before I must go. So you might be seeing the bathroom quite a bit.

    Help!

I don't understand why you would be eating only 2 meals. I am 11 weeks post op & I always eat 5 to 6 times a day. I eat every 2 &1/2 to 3 hours apart. I also measure my food. There was a class plus a book on how to eat. We are also to log our food/protein & Water. This is a lifestyle change. This is the way we should eat for the rest of our lives.

    Protein Shakes Ugh!

What is wrong with Premier protein drinks? They recommended them where I had surgery, because they have 30 grams of protein. I loved them before surgery but don't like taste after surgery. I use flavorless Genepro. I add to my hot coco or tea or broth. I like that I don't have that whey flavor to shake.
  23. I am 8 weeks post op. I chose RNY because I love sweets & wanted to control bad eating by dumping. I am not a big eater when it comes to regular food. I know that down the road I could graze on sweets between meals & gain my weight back. I have some health issues & need to get weight off & keep off. So far, happy with decision.

    Any ideas? Getting sick!

so I would pretty much just have to do two times of that? Can you taste it at all does it thicken your broth though? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
