Changed my surgeon

Recommended Posts

I had an appt with a surgeon 2 weeks ago,I didn't get much chat or feedback from him. So I looked around for someone else,Even though I'd paid for a consult with 1st surgeon.

Found another one,had a consult yesterday,he was great, loads of technical information for me as I'm diabetic, hypertensive and bipolar. He can't operate until July . But I don't mind because he's the

' Fat Doctor ' !!! Shaw Somers. Have seen so many of his programmes on tv and YouTube woop

Now I'm really excited

Congrats to you. Have you decided which surgery yet? Just curious because I'm also diabetic and have HP.

Good that you found a surgeon that answered your questions & July is in just 2 months. You will be glad that you are taking charge of your life.

Gastric bypass is the surgery recommended for diabetic sufferers. In a lot of cases, patients normally stop taking diabetic meds the day of operation. Unfortunately I won't be as I've been suffering for over 20yrs from diabetes.

Hello ! [emoji1430]
Just reading this post I created, pleasantly surprised to read something from you, just today you gave me great feedback on another topic regarding taking a holiday just 5 weeks after surgery;you have concerns. ..you gave me advise on food too.
How's your journey so far ?

Everything has been super smooth sailing (touch wood). The weight is coming off (slow and reasonably steadily), I keep having to buy new clothes, and I eat virtually the same thing every day, so I don't have any food-stress. I am a bit deficient on some Vitamins, so have increased my supplements. I have lost 59lbs so far, and my surgery was March 20. (Drives me crazy when I hang out at one pound short of a milestone! Lol.) 66 more pounds, and I'll be at my initial goal... so I'm almost halfway there!

My focus is starting to shift away from the surgery and recovery to thinking about more mundane life-topics.. like getting some renovations done on the house, finding a job this fall, etc. (I'm a stay at home Mom, but the kids are getting old enough that I can go back to work!)

Thanks for asking!

Berry78,just wanted to share that tonight is my 'last supper',I was going to have some company over and cook a scrummy meal. She cancelled last minute ;(. can't be bothered to cook for myself. So I'm going to go to the local chippie,do feel guilty though, incase you didn't understand,im going to go to the local 'British' fish and chip shop.I like their big fat chips with lashings of vinegar...drool

Enjoy! Post op, fried foods won't be your friends.. so might as well eat 'em while you can! ;) My picky 11 year old had fish and chips on vacation, and liked them. Probably the only way I'll get fish into him anytime soon...

"chippie" ... love it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
