  1. Steps are steps, no matter how you get em in! It's all good!! :)

I'm in an emergency call center, so I'm not moving too much during my work day either. I keep my bottled Water down the hall in our break room. When I need another bottle, I take the long way, and go down/back up the stairs before getting it and heading back. If I don't have stuff to do on my lunch hour, I will walk around inside, or outside now that it is finally warming up!

I heard that! I promised the kids I'd take them to the amusement park this weekend if they get their chores done. If they do, I should get quite a few steps in. Lord knows I can't get on any rides! :)

My Water sits on my desk. I put a gallon in the freezer when I get in about 5:30-ish and I take it out an hour later. I drink right from the gallon. I'm classy like that. :D

    I like it!! ;)

  2. So far my Charge HR has been pretty accurate on the steps.

Mine too. I have only noticed a few times that it did not register some flights that I did, but I'd rather it be under, than showing too many.

Yeah, mine was over counting by a few hundred at a time.
Yeah, that's not good! Did you get your Blaze?

Yes, I did and put it to the test earlier today. I spent part of my lunch 1/2 hour walking about a mile. Haven't walked in a REALLY long time and it doesn't help that I have a desk job. The most walking I'm getting other than the lunch break is taking the LONNNNGGGGG way around the building to go to the bathroom. LOL

  3. My charge hr doesn't count my steps properly. It shorts me several thousand. My husband wore it and it worked fine for him. I wore his and was still shorted steps. For some reason it doesn't like the way I walk and I can only get it to work right if I keep my arm still by my side which is not comfortable to do. There's a whole thread on this on the Fitbit forums from other people who experience the same thing. I bought a Fitbit One and it works great. I love it!

That is really strange - I wonder why it does that ?? Glad the One works for you! :)

  4. If you're a woman, fibroid surgery.

Thank you - I like it. I do not plan on telling my nosey coworkers WHY I am having surgery. Don't feel like dealing with the know it alls that feel the need to give their "just diet and work out" advise that works for them to get their extra 5-10# off. One of my other coworkers recently was sleeved and lost over 100# between the surgery and doing his part by being in the gym first thing every morning working out. "If he would have just gone to the gym every day, he wouldn't have needed the surgery." I told one of them the other day to go carry 100# of weights as they run on the treadmill and let me know how "easy" it is for them. They just don't get it and I don't care to involve them in any part of my journey.

I already had my gall bladder removed and had a hiatal hernia repair at the time of my initial lapband procedure (now going for revision to the sleeve). I have reflux issues, so I just read that I can blame that on fibroid tumors that will have to be surgically removed when the peanut gallery sticks their nose in.

  5. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal AppNo kidding..... I thought it was just steps! I didn't know you could change the activities! Good to know!

I got mine a couple weeks ago and love it! I haven't had surgery yet but am trying to instill all good habits for post-op.

Re: @@Margie122, it will record you doing things as a baseline, but it has 10 (?) basic workouts preloaded you can tap on to select what you are doing; run, walk, bike, cardio, weights, and a generic "workout," and you can add/delete other activities like yoga, stair climbing, etc.

I "think" it's good to actually tell it you are doing a dedicated class/workout and hit the start/stop function, because from what I read, it doesn't record your activity (warmup) for like the first 11 minutes as working out, just the movement (to count the heightened calories you'd want it to record it as part of the workout.)

I'm guessing it counts your starting height/weight/BMI and factors a 300-lb person exercising at X intensity for this known sport (spinning burns 1000 calories an hour, say,) that gets you Y calories burned in a 45-minute class.

Whereas if you just wear it as working out without specifying, yes, it will record exercise/steps, but maybe not as many calories of, say, your feet spinning the pedals? I may be explaining it wrong, but there is a stop/start with specific workouts listed for a reason, LOL.

Having said that, before I knew to do it, I wore it walking about 17,000 steps one day and it recorded it, and MAN, was that cool to see it sync to MFP and tell me I "earned" like an additional 800 calories I could eat! Wahoo!

I love the Fitbit! My husband was put out when I wanted to wear it fooling around to see how many calories I burned. Guess I was taking my new tracking obsession a little too far, LOL.

And, no, they don't have "fooling around" as a chosen activity to track;-)

  6. I am half way through the 6 month weigh in for insurance purposes (I have Empire Plan). My BMI is right on the borderline of 40. At the last weigh in I dipped below the 40 BMI to 38.3. (I don't have any co-morbidities.. yet!) I was taking a super strong antibiotic for a sinus infection which wreaked havoc on my stomach, making it impossible to eat or stay out of the bathroom. I am more than positive the weight loss was purely Water because after weighing myself later that same day the scale was up the 9 lbs. I am so scared the insurance won't cover the surgery now. I have an appointment with the surgeon in April to discuss a plan of action, but I was just wondering if anyone else had the same issue and what the outcome was..

That is the exact situation I am in too. Surgery date in July or August. I am right at 40%, and need to maintain just to make sure I don't drop below and risk that chance of being denied. Really stinks cause I am loving my new fitbit!

  7. I just got it yesterday and I already love it. Does anyone know if you need to do anything special for it to record a workout? I have Zumba tomorrow morning....Will it just track it or do I need to "tell" it I'm in a fitness class? Sorry for the dumb question.

Not a dumb question at all! I'm still learning too, but so far, I LOVE my fitbit!!

You don't have to do anything special, just as long as it is on, it is tracking your steps! You should get a bunch in with Zumba! Send me your email address if you want to do a weekend challenge with us! :)
