  1. I have noticed that soooo many people are having or have had the sleeve done vs RNY. Why is that? My doctor said i could do either one and i was leaning towards the RNY because i have trouble with gerd, i have at least 150lbs to lose and im about to turn 44. Opinions? I called my insurance company and they told me that i had to have a doctor say it's medically necessary and have proof. So- im hoping hoping hoping. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hair Loss

Ugh. My hair is already soooo thin. I gad cushings syndrome about 4 yrs ago from taking steroids for too long (like prednisone). Once I realized i was getting Cushing's syndrome I stopped the medicine (stupidly) abruptly therefore causing my hair to begin to fall out, actually thinning until you could see my scalp. Although i dont think it completely grew back all the way, it did mostly grow back within about a year. I will probably go bald once i get the surgery. The reason u have hair loss after surgery is because fat stores a lot of hormones and when you lose fat the hormones go nuts. It happens to women more often than men. First Consultation

I met with surgeon initially for consult. After i see nutrition and psych i will meet with surgeon again preop. Least i think thats what they told me. Like you rebcal it happened so fast and i was so excited about being there, I didn't really pay attention to everything. It was a bit overwhelming and so much to take in. And the staff there do this stuff so routinely they forget to ask if we have any questions or what our fears might be. I am also a nurse and it does happen. It becomes so routine that we take for granted sometimes that every day ppl don't understand whats going on or understand nursing language. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. i understand COMPLETELY!! All i ever want to do is sleep or at least lay down. My legs and ankles swell as soon as im on my feet, even sitting. I feel so awful. I hate going in public. Sometimes i see my reflection and think , its not THAT bad. But it IS that bad. I feel so ashamed and i just want to feel healthy and be able to do the same things you've mentioned. In public i smile and force myself to be social and appear to be confident. But when im alone i just want to die. I mean im not suicidal or anything. Its more a figure of speech meaning im so sad and defeated and I feel so gross. I want to feel alive again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Singles website match.com

Ive had some not so good experiences with dating sites. 110% was related to my weight. I seem to be the perfect match for every guy I'm interested in..... until we meet in person. Ive even sent pictures of me before hand so i dont get such rejection. Doesn't matter. Also, most men on dating sites are either only looking for hookups, lying, married or just want fwb. Very few are truly after finding 'the one'. Not to say that its true in every case, because i have found some genuine ppl on there. But online dating is not for the weak or for anyone with low self-esteem. Just my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hello! :-)

Strange, it's taking me such a long time to do my appointments because they are apparently booked up. I have my first nutrition appointment December 15th and i cant even schedule a psych appointment til after nutrition appointment, according to my surgeons plan. Also I have a sleep study scheduled for December 22. I started this whole process beginning of October. Ive seen pulmonologist , had barium swallow study, labs already. November 18th I have endoscopy done. Im soooo nervous that after all of these appointments (which are all over 45 minute drive) that my surgery will be denied by my insurance. I'm praying it gets approved and also that I won't have to do six whole months of nutrition appointments. If thats the case, it would be AT LEAST May before i would have the surgery. Ugh. I want this like YESTERDAY!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Rny? Or sleeve?

I appreciate all the replies. I felt like RNY is the best choice as well and unless convinced otherwise, that's what i will have. But still, it seems like so many more people have chosen the sleeve. But acid reflux is seriously NO JOKE and anything that could make it worse i want to stay far away from. Thanks everyone!! If anyone wants to share B&A pictures, i need as much inspiration as i can get!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  22. Im so excited that you chose to share these photos. I could be you almost. Very similar anyway. I just recently took a bunch of before pictures as i am still in the early stages of my journey but after i took the pictures i was looking at them and I couldn't imagine showing anyone else. It takes bravery! Also, I've been looking at before and after photos of so many ppl , just trying to find someone who's body looks similar to mine so i can envision more of what i will look like after and i am very excited to see yours. Thanks for sharing!!! You look great!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
