Do you really want to be addicted to something that makes you want to die if you can't get it? :smile2:
-
You could try getting more sleep -- not trying to be smart here. I gave up caffeine about 5 years ago on doctors orders, it took about 3 months before my body adjusted, now I am actually much better physically and more alert than I ever was on caffeine, but it takes time

I feel bad cause I've been bad
mnn2501 replied to viviananna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I started 'real food' at week 2 and while I am finding different foods affect me in different ways than they used to, I really have had no problem and would have went nuts if I had to stay on mushy foods for the full 5 week my doctor wanted me to. I do chew very well and keep total amount very small but having very few issues. Keep in mind I'm no doctor - but I see no problem with it as long as you don't go overboard. -

I have a fill / insurance question
mnn2501 replied to JustMarci's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
JustMarci 90 days seems like a long time and we all want to lose weight right away (or we wouldn't be in this situation) but in the scheme of things 90 days is not really bad - my first fill is at 60 days and I'm thinking that may be too soon. If you are sticking to a reasonable diet you will lose weight long term - 4 to 5 pounds a month is what my doctor says is best for permanant weight loss - even with the lap band. I only check the scale weekly - am less concerned with the scale and more concerned about my clothes getting looser and looser and putting more holes in my belts. -
1 week post-op: how many lbs lost?
mnn2501 replied to LiseSeattle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are sooooo right. I got so depressed after watching a couple of Food Network shows -- I got over it, but I recommend staying away from it until you're back on full foods. -

Banded 2/27/08 and still having pain
mnn2501 replied to dejageel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 1 day before you and am still having pain on my port when bending over. In fact yesterday was the first time I could sleep in a bed (I sleep on my side) - had been in the recliner before. Had to laugh when you said it hurt when tying your shoes -- I haven't been able to do that normally for a couple years - thats one reason I got the lapband.:huh2: -
Post-op how long until you could go out....
mnn2501 replied to Hazel-eyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While its possible to start being active within 24-48 hours as long as you don;t push it too much, consider that your active lifestyle has probably contributed to your weight. Perhaps its time to slow down and start taking care of yourself for a change. -
Will I have a lot of gas forever?
mnn2501 replied to Hazel-eyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it appears to be less and less as time goes on for me. -
Did I just hurt myself???

Banded 3 Days ago.....Was it the right thing to do???
mnn2501 replied to xray1028's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the post banding blues on my 3rd day also, by the 5th day they had passed and I was once again excited and finally losing weight (after gaining the first 3). Should we all have tried harder? perhaps, but we've got it now so lets take this tool and do the best we can with it. I also (on my own) added in some real food the 5th day -scrambled egg, mashed potatoes - it REALLY helped - just don't over do it, remember: 2 oz portions and chew. -
I needed Maalox(and used a full small bottle the first week), all my normal medications along with a pill splitter, was given a perscription for pain medication after surgery which I used, but also took tylinol (only pain releiver the doctor allowed), was suggested I have Phillips Milk of Magnesesia for constipation (but that was never an issue). Plenty of juices to drink, comfortable clothes and books to read. Where are you having yours done that you need to fly?

1 week post op and still have weird side pain
mnn2501 replied to iamlisad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its been 11 days for me since banding and about 3 days ago I started feeling occasional pain in the same spot but on my left side instead of right side. Not always, but enough for me to wonder what it was. I will be asking the doctor if it continues at my next appointment (the end of this month). Perhaps because of the surgery and the new hardware inside, its pushing something out of its normal spot??? -
Uncomfortable after surgery
mnn2501 replied to OhioGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See your doctor Monday, and if it gets bigger before then, go the emergency room (be sure to tell them you had a lap band put in) -
7 days post op and my port site seems really swollen?
mnn2501 replied to kristi43's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just feeling the same thing (banded 2/26) the port incision is much harder than the others - unfortunatly I still can't lay down without it hurting on the inside. I'm getting sick of my recliner. -
Gained 3 lbs in 1 night...2 days since surgery. Help!
mnn2501 replied to LiseSeattle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As has been stated already - it happens, Fluid buildups after surgery, I gained weight for 3 days then held it for 2 more and then started down. I agree, stay off the scale for the first week -- let your body heal from the surgery. BTW: My wife just had her lap band surgery late this afternoon and is doing well so far. -
Insurance copay question and link
mnn2501 replied to Rocket City Guy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure, all I know is that Hospitals try to charge as much as they can to the patient as they don't get anywhere near what they want from insurance companies and insurance companies try to get out of paying anything they possibly can. -
How Long After Surgery Do We Drink The Protein Shakes For?
mnn2501 replied to Erika-PA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Until you get enough Protein from other sources. Did you get a daily Protein goal? They want me to get 70 grams a day (male over 400 lbs) That works out to 2 shakes a day + a couple other sources of Protein -
For those who got banded this week and last
mnn2501 replied to ronwifey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on Day 8 and no, not for 3 days now water and Protein shakes mainly Yeah, that came back big time on day 5, I'm eating about 1000 cal a day now and am fine with that, I was under 400 calories the first few days - while ok then, wouldn't do it after day 5. I've even added in some more solid foods not on my 5 week post op mushy list (Scrambled egg, mashed potatoes) They used some kind of liquid or spray on bandages for me I was told I could shower day 2 if I wanted to - I waited til day 3 Sleeping is a problem, I am a side sleeper have had too much pain when laying down to do so currently. I have been using my recliner so far. To be fair I also weigh over 400 lbs, so there's a considerable amount of muscle and fat that gets shifted when I lay down - lighter persons may or may not have a problem. I was told that they stitch the port to muscle on the inside and it needs to heal better before I can lay down. This is the only part I do not like about the whole thing. -
Sugar-free hard candy?
mnn2501 replied to LiseSeattle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't see why not, I've been sucking on Vitamin C drops since day 2. (Halls Defense Vitamin C)and I'm on day 8 as of now. -
My doctor looked at mine and told me to split some in half and some in quarters (you can get a pill splitter at any drug store), Didn't say to crush any of them, I also switched to a chewable vitamin.

How long will this last?
mnn2501 replied to newmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My understanding is that they put an oxygen hose down your throat (they did me) while you are out, hence the sore throat. Mine lasted about 4 days, throat lozenzes help. I was up and walking about 4 hours after though although today (1 week later) I still get tired easily while walking. My doctor suggest Malox and walking for the gas and it lasted 2 - 3 days. -
Perhaps its time to get an attorney involved. Sounds like you have a good case for malpractice.
