  1. You may have a little bit better outcome because of your age. Your skin may have more elasticity. That being said, it can also be genetics and of course how much you have to lose.

But, I am guessing if you are already dropping, it will continue to do so. Also you do need to give it some time to bounce back.

Congratulations on your weight loss! I am a bit older (53) and I have had a lot of comorbitities and I feel fantastic! I always say my only regret is not doing this much sooner. You are nice and young, I am guessing you are already feeling pretty great.

Oh, what I wouldn't give to be that young again. LOL I have a 13 year old granddaughter who is trying to grow up so fast. She stopped playing with toys at 7 and is quite the diva. She acts like she is in her twenties and I am always telling her to slow her roll. She is in such a hurry to grow up, then again I think I was like that at her age too.

Thank you:) I hope I do but it I don't then u guess it is fixable if it's a big problem.

Lol I don't feel young I have 2 kids that keep me so busy I forget what it's like to not have them haha what's quiet?

I'm glad to hear you feel great I am already starting to notice I feel better and can get around much better too! It definitely is a positive life change for me. Knock on wood no complications so far and feeling so grateful!

I am not sure how much weight you have to lose. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if it is a lot it is likely that your apron will only continue to drop.

When I started this process I never thought I would consider having plastics and that I would be simply happy with the weight loss all by itself.

For me, I lost 152lbs which is nearly what I weigh now.

I call it the mudslide that happens when there is extreme weight loss.

So, in July I happily met with plastic surgeons and decided I would need to do something. The mudslide has actually made my back issues that I had before surgery worse. So I started with a arm lift in July and was amazed at how much it helped my neck which is fused at 3 levels. Not to mention I got outstanding results cosmetically.

In 12 days I will have a full abdominalplasty and breast lift because they are not where god intended them. I am doing this to get rid of all that loose skin and am actually hoping I get some relief on my low and mid back. My lumbar is also fused but most of my back pain is in my mid back.

I guess I found that my journey wasn't complete simply after the weight loss. I simply gained a lot of confidence which not only fixed my inside but made me want to enter the second part of my journey which was getting rid of the loose skin.

How much loose skin you end up with all depends on things like: how much you have to lose, genetics, age.

I am guessing if you have gone through WLS chances are you have a considerable amount to lose?

Best of luck to you as you continue your journey.

Ahh yes I figured this would be the case. And like you I assumed the weight loss its self was enough but as my skin becomes looser I am really not that happy with it.

I'm 26 and I started at 318 I'm currently 266 and my goal set by my NUT was 180. So still a way to go.

  3. Anyone else have a low hanging apron belly? I have always held most of my weight in belly but as u lose my apron is still hanging and maybe getting lower to... I just want to be able to wear something other then leggings eventually. But my apron is really bothersome. Someone tell me this can get better and it starts to flatten out! I am still only 2 months post op total loss of 53 lbs.

  4. 6 weeks post op. Tolerating things very well. I am on solid foods as I can handle. Still a few things I haven't tried but most part I feel great after eating. I am measuring I an getting in my protien and Water 95% of the time.

Rny was Nov 7th. But since my pre op diet I have only lost 43 lbs. I am feeling like this us so minimal. They say don't compare but how hard is it when I see people's weight just shed. I walk everyday. hard to keep positive when it just never feels like enough. Maybe it's all brain games for me or maybe I am too excited to start noticing myself but I still feel like the 300 +lbs girl. I question if I'm not eating the right things even though it's all mostly protien. Don't get me wrong I am proud to say I am 40 lbs lighter but I just don't feel it's enough.

Just needed a little vent this is my safe zone ;) I love you guys here.

  5. Imagine if you had gained 35 lbs from the day of surgery until now.

How would you feel? Would you feel like that was a normal or even moderate weight gain in that time period?

For me, I haven't gained 35 lbs in the past 3 years. I would go up 10 lbs and down 10 lbs and basically stay static. If I suddenly piled on 35 lbs I would have been making a doctor's appt STAT.

Definitely makes sense. I know it seems crazy to think like this but I've made so many changes with myself and diet I can't wait to see the changes in myself !

  6. I know the weight won't melt off. I guess I just expected more from myself. Started at 318 pre op lost 17 lbs 301 day of surgery and today 283... just feel like this isn't a nice huge loss like others. I try not to compare but so hard not too. I'm just ready to really start to feel and notices the difference. I notice some things but it's still like I'm the same in most ways.

I just needed a little vent.i am feeling crazy lately.

  7. I know I've read so much on the dreaded 3 weeks stall. I am 3 weeks out today and have stalled on the scale since week two. even reading about it still feel mentally unprepared. I keep thinking the surgery isn't working for me lol I know crazy. .or that maybe I'm eating too much. .

I get about 55oz of Water each day and between 50-65 grams of protien . My goal is 60-70 .. try my best but it's hard some days.

So I guess my question is so I need to change something or do you just let it pass?

Ps. I have also put my scale away so I will not be weighing myself until my month post op apt.

But this is literally driving me crazy. Even though I know it happens... and it's normal. Ugh.

Let it pass. I didn't lose a thing from 7 days post til 22 days. I was enraged b/c I was self pay and thought I'd wasted all this money and put myself through surgery.

Week 3 I lost 9 lbs. I guess my 3 week stall came week early!

Try keeping off the scale for a week. Now that I've broken a stall each one is getting easier to handle because I know that it's just a matter of time. You'll start losing again as long as you stay on plan.

Thank you this gives me hope. :) doesn't it just feel like forever? That's the hard part waiting for it to break. I sure hope it gets easier lol scale is away. I never owned a scale before should have kept it that way maybe it wouldn't stress me out as much lol

YES, it feels like forever! I was still on liquids and was so pissed, lol. Like wtf, I'm not even eating food and I'm not losing anything. I told my nurse about it at my one month post and she said that our weight loss isn't perfectly linear, we lose weight in steps more than a straight line.

Just stick to your plan, it'll happen!

That's how I'm feeling is angry lol. Like seriously question wth could I be doing that is causing this . Even though I read and read and see its normal. But still. Don't think any amount of reading about it prepares you for what you feel after!

Your stall Def came early just like mine too. Ah thanks for your words it's great to just feel like I'm not a complete idiot and failure lol.

I have done amazing at sticking to my plan so I think it makes me expect to just keep dropping the lbs lol but no. Not reality.

  9. Today is week 4 post op and according to my home scale i havent moved. First week i lost 22 lbs. Then between then and my 3 week appt I'd only lost 5. I tend not to believe my home scale because it is 20 lbs off so i only use it for an estimate but the numbers havent changed since last week. Im hoping i go in to my next appt and find out im down at least some. I have panic disorder so this isn't working for me. Makes me feel my body has betrayed me and i just went through this surgery for it to not work. Im trying to pull myself from that mindset

I'm totally in the same mindset. Feel like surgery was a failure. I am 3 weeks post op today. Scale hasn't budged in a whole week. I think inches have but haven't measured.

Feel like I'm eating to much through the day or doing something wrong I am on my soft foods stage in my diet so I'm eating pretty well anything that's not to hard or hard to digest. Blah..

I also feel like when I say I've only lost 33 lbs since my pre op diet to now it seems so minuscule. Even though it's a good amount and I didn't gain my weight overnight. I feel like I'm expecting it to be gone over night. oh how I feel crazy.

  11. Let your doctor know, they may need to up your dose. I didn't get a PPI. I also had wicked acid reflux, but my prevacid prescription has totally elliminated it. I had to call my doc and ask for the prescription.

Thank you they sent me home with a 3 month prescription for something that starts with p. It has helped but not 100% I wonder if it's because I am not drinking enough but it seems to only bother me when I have sips. This is crazy lol. I managed some tomatoes Soup today 1/4 cup and it went down well.

  12. Wow I am 3 days post op and the reflux is unreal. Dr said surgery went off without a hitch and everything was fine... it's so hard to take anything in when I feel so shitty. I have never ever experienced heart burn in my life before this is awful.

Is this quite normal? They gave me prisolec I think it's called to take everyday for 3 months but wow I don't even know if it's working.

    Any suggestions? TIA

  13. I did read in the material that was a side effect, and I found after a couple days on them with nothing else that happened to me. I have to eat something every two days of so to avoid the effects so much.
