My wls team has me on an 800 calorie diet consisting of 6 Protein supplements a day. It's the easiest diet I've ever followed and I'm so surprised that I'm never hungry! The only downside is that I crave real food. I just want grilled chicken on a bed of greens like you wouldn't believe! Lol, I was joking with my hubby the other day that the dog's food smelled better than what I was eating. This is only temporary, I keep telling myself. After my surgery I'll be eating real food in a few months. Yay!

I'm am four days into my preop diet and it's not as horrible as I thought it would be the worst part is getting down the Protein shakes. I am struggling with that bc I'm not a sweets person. So I get nauseous. I'm gunna try the Protein powder to mix in my broth this weekend. But I'm down a total of 24 lbs. I'm completely shocked didn't think I cld loose that much that fast. When I get hungry I find something to keep me busy organizing cupboards cleaning out the fridge. I cook every night for my family and I sit at the dinner table while they eat. I have to get used to this bc I can't expect them to make the same changes especially when two of my kids have problems gaining weight. And it's not like if after I have the surgery I can go to a party or family function and say hey guys don't eat I can't and it makes me want too. That would be craziness lol. So I'm preparing myself and I honestly think the pre op diet is great to mentally prepare people. Just make sure you stick to what u r prescribed as ur diet. Everyone's is different I cannot have any food just liquids. And everything low fat or non fat I would kill for a price of chicken right now but it's not worth it. As a nurse I've seen to much to not follow the diet orders. Best of luck on ur journey.

    Breathe. Relax and Breath again.
I had 18 days of 3 or 4 drinks a day. Is it easy? No... but so worth it. I never thought I could do it but I did.
    See positives rather than negitaves.
Repeat a mantra every day ( I CAN do this, I CAN do this ), keep busy and before you know it your surgery day will be here :-)

It really completely depends on what pre-op diet your bariatric practice prescribes. Mine didn't require "only liquids" - just that I keep my calories to no more than 800 while getting at least 80 grams Protein. So ask your team at your next appointment - they should be able to give you clear guidelines. I know all of the information can be overwhelming but as the person above said- just breathe, you can do it. It may seem like an awfully long time and yes, the first few days of it will be challenging but just keep your eye on the prize and remember why you are doing this.
