Unfortunately I have exactly 2wks before surgery & I feel absolutely UNEDUCATED about ALL of it!! My only education is what I've been looking up online & this site! I haven't met w/ my Surgeon or anything yet! My 1st real appt is on 11/9...for endoscopy & physical/history... then I FINALLY have an education class & meet w/ my surgeon on 11/17 (4DAYS before my surgery?! ) ...sigh ...too many questions, not enough ansrs .... I'll be honest... I dieted for a few months (6mo required)... but then when I was waiting for my approval... I kinda ate like I wanted to for three months...and then I just started dieting again last Sunday...and I plan to diet until I have my surgery and after!! right now I'm doing two Protein shakes a day (morning & night) and one small meal in the afternoon...(either salad or like a lean cuisine or something)... Oh my! My dr has told us everything from the first visit. We got a book that goes into detail ( which I like - give me all the information -i hate not knowing whats what! ) Sent from my SM-S765C using the BariatricPal App Yeah it irks me actually that I'm in the dark over what to expect, how to diet (pre-op & post-op), I haven't met my surgeon... I haven't had any classes ...I haven't even received a book nothing absolutely nothing!!! my first appointment is next Thursday for paperwork and weigh in... If they approved everyone who tried to get Surgery...that wld be A LOT of $$! Of course they have to TRY & deny it...don't get too discouraged...if you have more than co-morbidity (like sleep apnea) then most insurances will cover it... obviously you have to see what your insurance regulations are... The point is of course they're going to deny it but if you appeal it 50% of the cases get turned around...& if it still gets denied when they do a peer-to-peer that usually helps!! Did the office do the appeal for you or did you do your own. I was denied by insurance yesterday Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I called my insurance & did it on my own...I basically told them my MAIN reason for RNY was because of my chronic pain.... that I'm an absolute bad pain daily & I can't exercise like normal people to get it off...that surgery was my only option...it only took 3 1/2weeks to get back to me with my approval!!!
