Congrats man! You look and sound like you're doing great! I bet your daughter is mad proud of you!
I'll tell you that bit about pizza was kind of sad. If you get some big Portobello mushroom caps, flip them over, and dress them up like your own personal pan pizza, they are low carb and delicious! I had surgery last Friday, so I'm clinging on to the day I can have real food!!

Mine only get people food on very rare occasions. I was thinking today how it is funny that I am so very careful about what they eat so they don't gain weight, but I have had no problem shoveling bad food choices in to my mouth regardless of the weight gain!

So it's not suppose to feel like food is in my esophagus? Maybe hiccuping is the wrong stop-eating cue? If I sit up very straight maybe I can fit another bite in . . .
    Here's my vigilant food vacuum:

This is very often the view if I am not sitting at the table or my desk to eat.

Hi everyone. I'm a 31 yr old married mother of a 6 year old (7 on Monday) boy. I've always been a fat kid (body and soul). However, about 2 years ago I got a hole in my colon due to diverticulitis, and almost died from septic shock. I had to have an emergency colonoscopy, and live with a colostomy back for 4 months.
I went back and had everything reconnected as soon as I could. Well since my abdominal muscles were obviously not very strong to begin with, the strain of recovery caused me to get to gnarly hernias in my abdominal wall. It's all fat poking through, but it kinda hurts and looks terrible. My hubby said it looked like another breast on my abs (with my stoma scar looking like an areola!)
Dr. Said he could fix them, but no guarantee they wouldn't just bust back out because I'm fat haha sooooo, I began the lap band process. At my two month weigh in I was 282 (nobody gave me a diet so I was eating like no tomorrow!) I got my diet, and thanks to insurance rolling over, it took me about a year and a half to get through all the various visits and evaluations...and saving up for all the co-pays.
Well I finally paid up everything and had my surgery last Friday, Sept. 30, 2016. I had made it down to 252 at the last pre-op visit (thanks to pickle roll-ups and oyster stew....ask me about them sometime. Lifechanging!!) Now, after 6 days I'm down to 242 (I don't know why those two pounds keep lingering on. My little fatty buddies). I'm sure it's because liquids have like zero calories...or taste...or nutrients...So I downloaded this app so I could look around for anything that may make this transition easier and to meet people in the same boat to complain to and encourage haha

I'm sick of the liquids...my husband and I are watching a movie...and they just fed someone who hadn't eaten in a while, so they were just pounding it down...and I glanced over at my husband and said..."I want to eat like that!" haha

Cannot speak for what you are experiencing....can only share what I have gone through myself....
As I got my band adjusted, I had to earn to eat differently...give up certain foods, eat sower, chew better, don't drink with meals, etc, etc ....it was a very hard phase for me to go through after living an entire life of doing it differently....
At anyone time, if I did not adapt and change my habits, I too could easily experience what you are...constant pb'ing, not being able to keep things down...I could have said I was too tight and had Fluid taken out of my band saying I was too tight when in reality my band was fine...it was me that needed to change....
My last fill, I was miserable...took me weeks to months to figure things out...it was very slow but eventually I did start to learn
I did call my Dr. stating the problems I was having...but he knows me, and after asking a few questions he talked me into sticking it out with the understanding I need to go back to basics, and ease into it being careful as to what and how I eat....it took a lot of trial and error, plenty of stuck episodes until I started to learn I can't do that, or eat that, anymore.
Again, at any time I could have said I was too tight, git Fluid taken out, but then I would not be where I am today.
My last fill was 12 weeks after surgery, after which this was the most difficult time for me...took me months to learn...and 3-1/2 years later I am still learning some things, although after that first year it just got easier and easier...and today I do not even think about it that much....
Because of the band, I had to become a different person...I could never have gotten to where I am today if I insisted in sticking with old habits, foods....there are things I have not eaten since being banded....and never will for the rest of my life...
I read posts here everyday from people talking about eating pizza, Pasta, sushi, cheeseburgers, steak, etc, etc...if they can do it and still find 100% success, ...more power to them...myself, I had to change or this entire project would have been an entire failure....
Again, I don't ave a clue what you are experiencing....could be any one of reasons, or a combination of many....I am just sharing what I have found I needed to do be 100% successful, and taking this to it's ultimate completion....
Today I eat and drink anything I want....it's just that there are certain things I do not want anymore....and when I look at them I realize those things are not that healthy or nutritious in the first place...so it all worked together for good.

KateintheKitchen reacted to Dairymary in Hello from an oldie but goodie
Hello all. Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Mary, I live in Wisconsin, run a dairy farm with my hubby and we have two grown children and two grandbabies. I had been a large gal my whole life, no doubt in part due to the fact that beer, brats and cheese are staples in any good Wisconsinite's diet . After climbing to a BMI of 50 and feeling quite useless due to my physical limitations, I finally decided to have WLS in 2010. I ended up going to Mexico since my insurance company would only pay for bypass or Lapband because they considered VSG experimental. Fortunately, my daughter is a gastroenterologist and she used her connections to hand pick me a surgeon who was renown in the international bariatric community.
My recovery and overall weight-loss journey was fairly easy and uneventful. Even though I had surgery in Mexico, I still attended local WLS support groups throughout the entire process. It was nice just to be around people going through the same thing. Over the years I saw dozens (probably hundreds) of patients come and go. Very few veterans stuck around. But for some reason I felt a certain level of responsibility to help those coming behind me. In addition to the group meetings, I saw a therapist on a regular basis for the first couple years. That, by far, has been the secret to my success.
About 6 months ago I quit attending the support group meetings. A new coordinator came on board and we didn't exactly see eye to eye on a number of things. Basically she felt threatened by my vast knowledge and experience and I thought she was a stupid twit (at least that's my take on it ). So I decided to leave "real" people behind and enter the world of cyber support. I've been lurking for quite awhile and finally decided to join up.
From what I've observed so far, the problems and issues I read about online are not dissimilar to what I heard in the support group. The biggest difference is there are a LOT more whiners and non-compliant patients online. Maybe being anonymous just makes folks more comfortable with complaining. Maybe the online patients left their support groups to seek justification for their bad behaviors from strangers (cause we never coddled them in our group sessions!) Or maybe they are trying their best but their programs did not properly prepare them or they don't have local support groups. Unfortunately the naivety of some of the people giving advice on here is a little scary to say the least. And then there are the delusional individuals like that organic milk chic. No one like that would ever pass the psych evaluation in a real bariatric program so I've missed out on that type of sparkling personality in group session. Of course I may have been a little biased by her username.....my husband always jokes, "we prefer our milk with a healthy dose of antibiotics".
Anyways, just tonight I realized my 6 year surgiversary was 2 days ago and I missed it. Oops. I guess that's a good thing, though.....means my new skinny life is so normal I forgot about my surgery! Either that or I'm just old and senile. In either case it's been fun and I hope I can continue to encourage people to take full advantage of their new lease on life after WLS.

Omg you're right. I totally forgot that I had a hiatal hernia repair as well. That's exactly where it is. In between my breasts I can press on where the pain and tightness feels and now that you reminded me...That's exactly where the hernia probably was. Haha okay good!See I didn't need to call my doc. Just support from like minded people going through the same thing!
    Thanks!!
I just got on the scale for the first time and I think I'm down 30 lbs since 2 week pre-op
