Interesting that I ran across your post this morning. A friend and I work talking just yesterday on how usually a Tummy Tuck would be covered w/the hernia repair because you do have the hernia. Usually tummy tucks are considered cosmetic but w/the issue of the hernia it should be covered. I guess you will never know until you contact your insurance.
Good luck

Hello, I had my band on Aprl 16 and I have a 3 year old son. I have so far been ok. I haven't had quite the struggles you are having right now w/loss of family and diabetes however I do understand the emotional eating and that sounds like exactly what your having. Its good your talking about it that will help. Take sometime be it a few hours and do something to pamper yourself. You did the procedure for a reason so keep your eye on the prize. Things will get better take it one day at time. Take Care

Sassygal you will eventually be able to enjoy all that just in a modified way. Your right having to change the way you think about food. That too was my problem and still is. I figure I had such a big thing as the lap band done and I figure its my second chance to have a real life and getting to like myself and be a better person for me and my family. I am honestly wiping my slate clean and starting over. I am also going to seek support groups in person to help. This forum is good however talking face to face w/people can be a great help. Good luck w/everything. As for my self I was banded April 16 and I'm so excited to my new life change.

I wanted to share w/everyone what one of my supporters w/the lap band said too me. I am 3rd day into my pre op diet and I really am having w/drawls. Really strange, anyhow she told me "NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS THIN/HEALTHY FEELS" anyhow in my hard moments I think of that and it actually helps me.

Actually my decision to get the band comes from being obese for alot of my life w/my weight doing the yo yo effect. I have a son that is 3 and it is important to me too be around and to be an active parent for him. I don't want him to suffer from my weight issues.
Take care

My surgery date Jo Skinnie is April 16, 2007. That would be great to go throught the pre diet together, I know I could use all the support I can get. Its always easier if someone is sharing the same experience.

Hi I am being banded on April 16, 2008, I am so excited! My mind was made up to get the procedure back in Oct 07 but w/my work changing insurance I had to wait. Finally Jan 1 comes and I already started the stuff I needed to complete prior to getting an approval on the new ins carrier. Finally Feb I was approved and date set. I go the first week of April for a visit w/the NP then a day later w/the surgeon and then the nutrition consultation a week after that. Then finally... BAND ME!
