  1. I still got my ass! lol! I was blessed with some good T&A. I'm 42, I was sure my ass would looks like a flabby pancake but instead it just keeps getting higher and higher, sticking out more smoothly and round. (I feel so weird talking about this) If you have always had a nice ass, even extremely overweight, there is a chance you could keep it. So far so good. Despite what my info on the left states, I started this journey 4 years ago at 360 lbs. I'm now down to 218 and my ass is still round and bouncy. lol!

    Low sugar drinks

We have this weird thing in our family where we don't like many drinks. My dad only liked coffee, scotch and Water. In that order. My niece only drinks milk, water and coffee, she's 15. I only drank water, milk and diet coke. I am so thankful I love water as much as I do. flavored water or teas or coffee I don't like. I tried crystal lite but it burns my stomach. Gives me the worst indigestion.

    For the Lady Sleevers (Bras)

I've just been buying cheap undies and bras at kmart. I'm not spending cash on the good stuff till I'm settled. For now it's cheap support, otherwise I'm swinging around like one of those Newton's Cradle toys.

    Reason for stalling

I've been in a 1 month stall. However, when I measured myself I found I've been losing inches. Probably fat converting to muscle. However, you aren't even a month out so that isn't what you are experiencing. What you are experiencing is the body dealing with the trauma it's endured. Follow your plan, eat what was prescribed and it will work out.
  6. What I do, and this is gonna sound so simple and basic, but I try to feel the feelings. So for emotional eating, I now express my emotions and feel them. It means more crying and anger but less weight. What I think you mean is more or a pleasure habit. You enjoy these pleasurable processes which include eating. My suggestion is pamper yourself some other way. Get a massage, mani/pedi, or some other sort of pampering. A hot soak in the tub with candles and music or a book. It's divine!! This is when it's time to change your habits and find another way to sooth yourself that is not self-destructive.

1/2 of a turkey burger no good

ugh, that sucks!! My doc said to pull back and then try again in a few weeks when I hit a food that doesn't sit well. wait, when were you sleeved? I'm not suppose to try stuff like that for a while longer. I'm at 8 weeks right now.

    Must wait?!?!?

I took great joy in being able to eat real food again and didn't feel one moment of guilt over looking forward to it. Any human would. It's almost here! You enjoy your week and good luck with your chicken. Because in the end what you will end up doing is focusing on the Protein. But don't feel bad if you eat some zuccini because you love it so much. This is a new lifestyle, not a prison.

Are you kidding me? No way!

    YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats
  10. The 1st 6 weeks are pretty rough both emotionally and physically (I had VGS, gallbladder removal and hernia repair). I want to make sure folks know that, in general, this will be the worst period of time and then your world (and options) will expand again. That was the worst part for me, those 6 weeks of disabled life, eating, etc. I had a really rough time but then it all blew over like a summer rain cloud.

    Anyone with a stricture

I don't think it's normal for people to keep their strictures. I think it could be dangerous. It's important to discuss these things with your surgeon and follow their procedures. Please be aware that a stricture can cause you to become quite ill. Please be careful folks!

    Popcorn

I spoke with my surgeon and my nutritionist. As long as I'm hitting my protein goals and water goals they are fine with me having popcorn occasionally. I like to have some at the hockey games and at the movie theater. They just asked that I make my own and keep it low fat, low salt. I really can't eat more than a serving so...lol! The only thing I do is eat it carefully to make sure I don't get the shell or hard parts, I don't want my tummy to be upset. I'm at 8 weeks today!! just realised, yay!

    Daily Sugar/Carb Intake

I aim for 15 carbs per meal with five meals a day. I'm diabetic and this is the recommended procedure for me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I don't want to weigh!

I use the scale daily to see if what I'm doing is ok or do I need to modify. But I think doing the opposite is just as good. Following the guidelines, moving a lot, feeling your clothes get loose, feeling stronger, that's all the "tell" you need! Good luck!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Over 300's

I started out at 350 about 4 years ago. It's been a long journey to the sleeve. Believe me, it's possible!! I love seeing the bones in my hands and wrists, I love feeling my thinner arms, I can't wait till I can ride a rollercoaster without any fear of being too big for it! I want to ride a horse again! The list is endless, Your body will be a whole new adventure!!

    Lady sleevers

I couldn't deal with a bra for the first 30 days. I would put one on for the minimum time required. I would take it off the moment I got into my car.

    Water and gastric sleeve

Don't worry, You'll get use to waiting 30 minutes post meal!! I try to give myself as much of the 30 minutes pre meal but sometimes I just need some Water. The reason for the PRE-meal wait is so that your tummy doesn't have water in it taking up space that could be used by Protein. Or that's what I've been told. lol!
  19. Breakfast: Special K Protein cereal/1 cup skim milk, turns into a mushy mess and I eat. lol Lunch: chicken Teriyaki 2-4 oz whatever I can get down Snack: Chicken Teriyaki 2-4 oz whatever I can get down Dinner: Garden burger/chicken/other Protein 2-4 oz whatever I can get down Snack: Protein Bar In between: Water, water, water, water and more water! Vitamins. lol!

October Sleevers, how are you doing?

I would call my surgeon again and tell the office what you just said, that you feel like you need to be admitted to the hospital, that your urine is dark (don't say yellow, say dark.) and how long since a bowel movement. At the very least they should have you go in for a check up. Good luck! Do they have you on any anti-nausea meds? I'm on ODT Ondansetron (ODT = orally disintegrating. Ask for one that dissolves in your mouth rather than a tablet you have to swallow (crush since us post ops can't have pills for a while)

    no support at hone, overwhelmed,

I think the solution is the cook the meals for your family that are good for you to nibble on. It will help everyone's health. I don't see why you are A) Not allowed to cook anything but what they want and B ) Why your health and journey isn't important to your family. I'm so sorry for you that your family is unintentionally (I hope) being selfish. I know that sounds harsh but it sounds like you are doing all the sacrificing, all the work and without them pitching in. Just start telling them "If you want me to cook our meals than the price of that is healthy meals for the whole family." For me I've always said "You are more than welcome to cook your own meals, and clean up and shop for the items." lol! It's surprising how quickly people come to their senses. GOOD LUCK! Also remember you are in the most emotionally fragile times right now, probably for a good 3 months post surgery. Maybe it would be good to let your husband know how you are feeling, how you feel that even though he SAYS it's OK you feel like it isn't, that it's not the truth. Tell him how you are sabotaging your success and your fears. I would hope that he would see that he needs to give you more room to do what you need for you AND your family.

    Stall is killing me

My stall happened when I transitioned to real food and more calories. I'm OK with it, I was dropping almost a lb a day. I am happy to be trying foods and losing a little more slowly now. I actually gained 1.25 lbs my first week on real food and I never get more than 800 calories a day. But for like 2 months I was only getting 300-400 calories a day so it makes sense. Plus I am taking in more salt. Don't worry, unless you are eating the wrong foods you will break through and lose again.

October Sleevers, how are you doing?

I'm doing better the further along I go, sleeved on 10/10, am on full food now and so glad to be finding a new normal. I do still struggle with acid indigestion, this weird uncomfortable feeling of burning emptiness in my stomach after I digest that lasts until I eat again. I hate that. I fear I will be in discomfort for life but just allowing time. At least I can eat meats and cheeses and the veggies I've tried so far. Breakfasts are rough but I'm working on it. Don't hit my Protein or Water goals but again, working on it. I'm back to being active and only have like 1.5 weeks till all my physical restrictions are lifted. Being able to be physically active increased my happiness and helped pull back the depression quite a bit.

    3 weeks post surgery

Hi Adrian, I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles!! I'd check with your surgeon. You might not be ready for the next stage yet. Yes, you will be able to eat solids! I'm 6 weeks post and was able to enjoy a bit of our american Thanksgiving meal yesterday! It takes many weeks to get to the point where you are going to start feeling your new normal. I went through quite a bit of emotional struggle with this fearing I would never hit a new normal. But it will happen. I just think that maybe you're healing is delayed due to your issues and you might want to go back to the liquid. But of course check with your surgeon on all things like this. A. Bite one week out

That's a surgeon's question. Many here will have a variety of answers, but the only one that matters is your doctors. Good luck!!! Just remember, Christmas/Hanukkah/etc is right around the corner and you should be well enough by then for some mashed potatoes. So even if they say no for Thanksgiving, make sure to ask about Christmas cause you might just end the call happy regardless. Good luck!!
