  1. Any recommendations for one in particular? I'm 4 days out and feel like a binder might help
  2. wow this brought tears to my eyes. GO YOU!!!
  3. i could've written this word for word. i'm hungry now on day 5 of the liquid thing but i'm pushing through it because things WILL change. they have to, right? we'll be getting most of our stomach removed, how can it not change? <-that's what i keep telling myself and it's what i'm choosing to believe in order to get thru this and the rest of the month. i'm excited. life is going to be SO different in a year.
  4. i'm on the same time frame with everything as you and today i saw that i'm finally down 5 lbs in four days. but it's shark week sooooo... and that's probably not helping me feel completely opposite of you-- i'm actually quite hungry. like right now. i had my first shake at 7 and i'm already looking at the clock bc of how hungry i am. ugh. but i totally got this! it's hard but it's not impossible.
  5. just keep your eye on the prize-- the end date to your liquid diet!
  6. i'm only allowed Protein shakes and Water (though i could add fruits, yogurt to the shake)... the first day i used unsweetened almond milk with the shakes thinking it would mask some of the flavor. i'm 4 days in and i no longer use the milk- water only and LOTS of it. the colder the better. my favorite so far has been to blend an orange, vanilla Protein Powder, ice, and lots of water. it gets frothy and tastes sorta like an orange julius (or so my mind likes me to believe). also decaf instant coffee and/or Peanut Butter (powder) added to the protein powder is a "great" way to drink the shakes. but besides all that, how's your gut? OMG I'M DYING WITH RUMBLING AND GAS AND BATHROOM TRIPS! :(
  7. i start my two week pre-op diet Friday-- all liquid (protein shakes, water; 900ish calories). day before surgery, all clear liquid. fun times.
  8. yeah, doc suggested 4-6 weeks. i put in for four, hoping to return sooner. my date is 12/16 so just before yours. good luck!!
  9. Hi Lisa,How are you doing? We are neighbors somewhat I live in Jefferson Park. Curious when you had surgery? Mine is coming up. Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App i'm not far from Jefferson Park, but i work in Schaumburg (which is why i chose Kane Center). my surgery's scheduled for mid December- so not long at all!
  10. i start my liquid diet 12/2, surgery 12/16, then two more weeks of liquid... so pretty much the entire month of December will be spent not chewing. <that's CRAZY to me, but i just will focus on the absolute fact that it's just ONE MONTH and not forever and that in a year from now i'll probably half of the size i am today. eye on the prize, yo! that, and my girl turns 7 end of December, so i'll get to be home with her during for the holidays and birthday.
  11. ditto to all of this.
  12. my date is the 16th too! pre-op liquid diet starts 12/2. should be a fun month of not chewing food.
  13. i'm new here but very much want to become more active -- 12/16 surgery date!!!!
  14. Not sure how to quote or tag @@mobella but I've got PPO and they're supposed to cover 80 percent if BMI is 40 or over. I went to the three hour seminar end of September, stayed after to make consult appointment and was open to see any surgeon asap and lucked out getting a consult a week later! Then I lucked out with someone canceling right before I made my NUT appointment and asked to be called, even if last minute, for any sooner appointments with the psych. And again, lucked out. Tomorrow I'll call my insurance to make sure they got the stuff they need... It will seem like it's taking forever but if you're open to either location for appointments and let the staff know you're willing to do whatever to move things along, things go quickly.
  15. I'm currently waiting for insurance, BCBS, approval. This place is on top of things, that's for sure. I've never received so many appointment reminders! I actually love in the city but work in burbs so choose Kane cuz they're not too far from work... And with all the tests and appointments needed, I don't have to miss a lot of time from work.
  16. This is actually a huge concern of mine and I haven't had the surgery yet. The psychologist said that's self esteem issues... While I can agree to an extent, the fact is I haven't been of "average" weight since I was 10. Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App
  17. I haven't had the surgery yet and my daughter is 6.5, but I hear where you're coming from. Completely. But I'm also 44 and already can say I wish I would've gotten this serious about WLS when my girl was younger- or even before she was born. As it is now, she'll remember me being fat and unhealthy. I'm concerned my husband will have to endure a lot the first month (especially) after surgery but... I have to believe it's a small sacrifice to pay to be truly healthy and alive and active again. 18. I'm not on the pre-op yet, but can you add Peanut Butter or peanut powder to cut at some of the sweetness? I sure hope so cuz my surgeon uses the same shakes and I'm not into sweets much Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App
  19. Huge congrats! Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App
  20. Was this the stress test for the pulmonologist? I have my pulm appt next week and one question they asked if I've ever done a stress test. I'm gonna have to run, huh? Joy. Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App
