  1. My Dr also recommended the bypass because I was diabetic and there appears to be more success rate with the bypass and diabetics..but I chose the sleeve..it's considered the safest of the two and I know two people personally where the daughter got the bypass and the mom got the sleeve and the daughter has been in the hospital several times after her bypass for dehydration and other complications and the mom hadn't had any issues. Luckily I have had no issues either. I feel great..my sugar is normal and I am off my meds. I also didn't have problem with sugar which is another reason people pick the bypass to keep from eating sweets if they get dumping syndrome. The sleeve also requires less Vitamins for life. My issue was binge eating..over eating even good foods. I chose the sleeve and it was the right choice for me for sure slow and steady wins the race in my book.

  2. I was a smoker..but I changed to eCigs and vapor and moved down to 0 nicotine, 3 months before my surgery because they wouldn't allow me to have unless I stopped but they were fine with the eCig at 0 nicotine. It is more than just bad for your body..it can cause life threatening ulcers in your stomach after surgery. I found switching slowly down levels of nicotine I didn't have any cravings. I also found that just having the ecig and blowing vapors solved my need. You should give it a try..I just say..don't risk your life anymore by continuing with the cigs. You should want a healthy lifestyle after surgery..so I say strive for it in all areas. Good luck!

  3. That's the thing... I don't even know her rational. My husband wasn't on board at first but he came with to my consult and realized how much I wanted it and wanted me to be happy. I just don't get it. She was super successful with weight watchers and maybe she thinks there are other ways. Idk

Is she heavy as well? I did not tell my best friend I had surgery because I knew she wouldn't be supportive. She's always been my eating out buddy. One of her other friends had WLS and I got to hear her talk about what a stupid decision it was..I decided to tell a couple of coworkers that I knew would be supportive and my immediate family. I only wanted positive support and although I love my best friend..I wasn't going to listen to her being negative toward my decision..or worse..think she could talk me out of it..so 10 weeks out and she still doesn't know. Somethings to some people just don't need to be shared.

  4. There are a lot more options than just Protein shakes..after my gastric sleeve I couldn't handle the Protein shake..it makes me completely nauseated..but there are tons of different flavored Soups, hot chocolates, fruity Protein Drink inserts..If your surgical team doesn't sell products..just go to Amazon and put in Proti Diet or Bariatric Choice..lots of options. I'm even eating a Protein oatmeal from Proti Diet..

  5. Kinda... If that was the case, then we all could have lost weight just by going on a diet. A positive outlook in life is a good thing as is wanting to change but I couldn't wish away my fat no matter how great my desire was.

I feel like taking the step and getting the surgery is our desire to change..no true change comes without wanting it but also the backbone of change is the hard work. Just my 2 cents.

  6. I think we all know in our head if we aren't doing everything on track..I guess my question is..can you really feel..why did I bother when you lost 50 lbs and also know you need to do better on Water and exercise? I'm a lower BMI and I am losing weight pretty slow..but I also know if I haven't had a successful week..I evaluate what I could have done better and try to readjust for the next week.

A little over 50 lbs is my top weight loss goal..so I say..WOW 50 lbs in 5 months..give me some of that success!!!

So maybe you need to readjust your thinking first and say..wow..go me!!! I'm 50 lbs less than I was and I got this!

Just get that Water in and start getting that exercise in and see if you break that stall. You might surprise yourself. Good luck ((HUGS))

  7. I've noticed some days I can eat the same food where one day I feel fine and the next time my sleeve doesn't seem to like what I'm putting in it? Have you experienced this? Today lunch, I've had a few times before but this time it is not sitting well. I'm almost 10 weeks out from surgery. Think it's just where I'm still healing?
