  1. Hi all I'm looking for a buddy, op booked for 1st April I'm excited and scared looking for anyone who is having op around same time so we can help support and encourage each other! Thanks![emoji4]

Hey there. I'm having surgery on April 5th. We should keep in touch. I also started a Facebook support and advice page for those of us going thru WlS in the next month. There is a group of good people on there and it is nice to have that kind of encouragement. Please feel free to join if you'd like.

  2. Hello everyone. I am having surgery in April also. I saw a while back that this forum doesn't have any monthly surgery support groups for this year yet. I have started a support group on Facebook. For some reason it won't let me share the link here but it is under April 2017 WlS support and advice. Please feel free to join so we can all have a place to give support and advice.

  3. Hi all!

After 3 years of suffering with my band, today with my first visit with a new doctor I already have a surgery day! I thought I was going to have to fight tooth and nail to get a revision, I can't believe how fast this process went.
My surgery day is April 5th 2017. Now I have to quit smoking and lose 7lbs. My insurance required 1 month of a weight check in but I have 6 month worth of documented check ins from within the last 12 months.
I am getting a band to bypass revision and now I am on to educating myself more about the bypass. Any tips, food suggestions or any other advise is GREATLY appreciated!

Hello there. I am having surgery on April 5th as well! Let's be surgitwins lol. I have my preop class on March 22. Right now I'm working hard to keep losing and not gain before the class. I'd hate to be rescheduled for surgery for gaining weight. Anyway, I'm so happy for all of us. Good luck to ya hun.

  4. I'm so happy for all of us. But omg, I'm getting so nervous. March 15th is getting closer and closer I could really use a buddy to get thru this. Thinking I might start a vlog soon about my personal journey. Maybe I can get advice and encouragement from others. If anyone wants to stay in contact with me, please feel free. This is an exciting time in our lives!

  5. Thank you so much. I'm so nervous and I still have 4 weeks to go. Last night I was speaking with my boyfriend and he was encouraging me to just be calm and realize I'm doing this for me and not anyone else. I guess my biggest concern is being put under anesthesia. Last time I had a major freak out on the hospital bed as they wheeled me down the hall to surgery. But the hospital I was at was so amazing and they pushed my tears away and made me feel calm. The staff was truly amazing. I'm hoping this other hospital will be the same.

  6. My doctors office just called to tell me that my insurance approved my revision surgery to gastric bypass. I'm so happy and extremely nervous at the same time. My surgery is set for March 15th. I can't believe it's finally gonna happen. I've been waiting so long to be rid of this horrible band and feel relief pain wise. Anyone else having surgery in March??

  7. Today I got a phone call from my insurance advocate. She said that she was submitting my info to the insurance company today. I'm so happy! Apparently I don't have to wait to do my 3 month supervised diet because I've been a patient of my surgeon for years. My doc and her say that my insurance is one of the best that they almost always approve for revision sugery, especially when it's due to the Lapband. She set a projected surgery date of March 1st!!!! I am super excited. I'm praying that everything goes well and that I'll be able to have all my finances in order by then. This is something I have been living with for years and I'm just so relieved to know that this horrible band will be gone soon. And I'll be on the road to a happy, healthy person. Anyone else having surgery in March?

  8. It won't let me end my day, says I need to eat more. Is there any place in the settings that I'm not finding where I can indicate I had surgery, this isn't a mistake, etc? It wants me to have 1000-1200 calories a day at least. Well seeing as I'm not quite a month out from surgery that just isn't happening.

I thought I was the only one having this problem. I havent had surgery yet but I'm on a journey to loose 20 lbs to be approved for surgery. Doctor says to shrink my liver. I downloaded the app Monday and have had the same encounter. I have been sticking to 700 ish calories a day and I have the same problem. It says it wants me to eat 1770 calories a day. I'm nowhere near that. I found that I am able to just go on to the next day and progress from days before is automatically saved every 24 hour period. It would be such an awesome to have some sort of a bariatric feature on the app. Anyway, good luck.

  9. You can do this!!! I have heard awful things about the band...so sorry you had to experience that! My surgeon does not even do the band anymore...he said you don't lose the weight like the bypass or sleeve! I hope all goes well and you just keep focused to shed those 20 lbs and get scheduled for your life changing surgery!!!

Thank you. I'm really going to try my hardest to loose the weight asap. Cutting the sugar is gonna be the hardest. But it's all for the best.

A little weird i know but I just can't wait to have this darn thing taken out and have the revision done. Counting down the days till my next visit. 12 days.....lets get it! Hehe :-)

  11. Super excited today. I had my first appointment with my doc today. He said since I had great insurance that usually approves everyone, I don't need to do a 3 month supervised diet as long as I can loose 20 lbs asap. I'm super stoked. I want this Lapband gone. It has been a horrible experience and I'm so ready to start living life again. He said my best option would be gastric bypass. I simply cannot wait. I hope everything goes well. Healthy eating and strict diet start asap. It will be hard to cut out sweets but I know I can do it. I have the best motivation of all.

  12. I am not trying to be negative in any sort of way. I'm so happy for you and wish you all the best. As for myself , I had the band five years ago to the day and I can say that it is the worst decision I ever made in my life. I wish I had gotten gastric bypass to begin with. My quality of life is limited due to always being in pain and constant complications from the band. It was never the tool for me it was supposed to be. I've had all Fluid removed and still feel so horrible. I had to resort to eating foods that slide this I've gained all weight back and then some from severe depression. I would advise against Lapland. I think it's horrible they even still allow this procedure. Please do your research. I wish I had.
