@@StacyO It will be extremely important to stick with your pre-op diet but many of us have fatty liver and there should be no reason surgery would be cancelled because of this.

I also had a fatty liver. As mentioned, most obese people do. When my surgeon saw that in my report and I believe his comment was something along the lines of "Everything looks great. I see you a fatty liver, no surprise there. Surgery should take care of that for you!" That was it.

I would say a fatty liver would not you from having the surgery. You would have to be on a pre op liquid diet for about month is all or more. The liver will shrink then. That the whole purpose of the liquid diet pre surgery so the liver is shrunk and they can get to your stomach better. So no worries. Sent from my VS985 4G using the BariatricPal App

I have been through most of the pre op tests and all is well but I just found out I have a fatty liver. I don't have any other ailments like diabetes, cholesterol problems, heart.. Etc but the sonogram showed fatty liver. I had been a heavy drinker for many years but quit s few months ago as I wanted to change my life. Unfortunately even after stopping drinking and dieting I still did not lose any weight at all. I met with a surgeon in late July and he suggested gastric bypass. I have not had the endoscopy or the final blood tests yet. I am scared they will cancel my surgery due to finding liver problems. I had a blood test in June that showed normal liver function but this new sonograms showed fatty liver. Can anyone offer anything positive to say?
