I'm from Canberra too! I'm getting a sleeve done with Dr Mosse on the 26th of June. Just going about my business at the moment drinking Optifast shakes, Water and eating lovely stir fried vegetables and salads.
A question though: I take a women's multivitamin every day at the moment. I can't remember whether I needed to take an extra Calcium tablet now as well as post-op?
(I know it was a chewable brand I'm meant to grab, but just not sure when I'm meant to start).
Extra calcium will be post-op as you can't get enough through food then. (Probably a couple of weeks after.) You're already getting extra now through Optifast.

I wouldn't think so. The pre-op diet is mainly for liver shrinking purposes for ease of access to the op site.
As long as you are sticking to the diet that shrinking should happen.
Also you say next week... so there's a good chance you will lose more by then.
I lost 4.8 (BMI 41) on the 2 week pre-op diet. My Dr was pleased with that. [emoji3]
Good luck to you [emoji4]

Depends on the condition. Back damage shouldn't be too affected by malabsorption with all the different ways to get in Calcium and D these days.On the other hand, losing as much weight as possible could be the difference between an ambulatory future and a wheelchair.
Usually people with chronic conditions that need medications are steered away from RNY because of malabsorption.I have chronic spinal stenosis + and grade 4 osteoarthritis in my knees and was steered towards G Sleeve due to the ongoing need for NSAIDS. 95lbs to lose. 52 yo. Cannot take NSAIDS with RNY so I also find it interesting that the back specialist suggested RNY.

My surgeon has suggested that I get a boob lift and implants. I not sure if I should get the implants. What is everyone opinion on this?
I was told that if you're happy with the size you are when wearing a bra (boobs all propped up) then you only need a lift (they rearrange your own tissue), if you think they are too small in a bra... then you need implants.

Hi! 2 weeks into soft foods. I'm reaalllllly looking forward to seeing that scale number start with a "1..." - weight loss seems slower - but going in right direction. Just impatient!!!

Hi there,
I can't read my messages. I can see a list of them. I can see a got a new one yesterday but I cannot see content. It just says I read it a minute ago. I am on a laptop running Windows 7. On Samsung/Android phone the messages won't even load. Just have a spinning circle loading.

Hi Holly,
I'm 3 days out. Yesterday I felt very awful but a tiny be better than day 1. Today I feel almost human.
I was vomiting everything and not able to even have Water without MUCH pain. I just wanted to crawl in the corner and curl up. Last evening was better and today I feel like I'm going to get better. I'm just sticking to clear fluids for now and I find the anti-nausea much more helpful than the pain meds anyway.
I'm allowed to have a shower today. They said I could yesterday after the doc had been but I just wasn't up to it.
It will get better for you soon. xx

Frozen English spinach?, baby spinach type fresh small leaves?, regular spinach fresh (bunch is about a foot and a half long)? Thank you ☺

Hi Stephanie,

I'm in Aus too.
My surgeon required an initial consult, wait a month (to think about it and research) and then could book at next consult. I had routine blood tests taken before surgery.
My surgeon also required dietician visits. (Just one before... and each stage after). I was given the number of an exercise therapist and psych but these were optional.
We are not required to have the same level of diet and psych prep as in USA as is automatically covered by private health fund (if you have one that covers it).
Depending on your personal circumstances/medical history, your surgeon may require you to have other tests e.g. sleep apnea, ECG.
They usually also require the scope (via throat to check out stomach). Some do it a couple weeks before but mine did this at the beginning of surgery while I was under general.
They seem to vary by personal choice on Pre-op diet. Usually Optifast 2-4 weeks before surgery.
