Gas pain can be no joke! I'm glad you finally got relief from it. And, some sleep! ? That can definitely help make you feel better. That is so wonderful about the acid reflux! I *dream* about not having it one day. lol

I can't believe they told you that! Especially your son! Anyways, be proud of yourself! As far as exercises for loose skin.... it's more of a genetics game, and how far your skin has been stretched, age, etc. Sometimes, nothing will help except skin removal surgery. I wish you the best of luck!

Just stumbled upon this topic/thread. Wondering how you're doing now? Did you have your revision surgery? I'm currently waiting to have revision sleeve to bypass surgery due to severe acid reflux too!

Try not to worry what other people tell you; if you and doctor agreed that WLS is the way to go, then that's what you should do. I think some people tend to think in order to have WLS you need to be 400+ pounds. WLS helps a lot of people with their weight, but also healing joints, getting rid of diseases that can be caused by excess weight, etc.
I had the sleeve and am currently getting a revision to bypass, and am at 35 BMI. Some would say i don't need the surgery, while me and my surgeon have decided that's what's best. Do what you feel is best.

I'm from San Diego and live in Houston now. Dr. Ricardo Bonnor first did my VSG in 2013 then my 2020 DS revision. I have great insurance so they covered all my needs. The most I pay out of pocket for all medical bills is $5k each year.

Just got the Revision from a 2013 LSG to DS 10 days ago. I'm recovering well and seeing excellent results. Everything went better than expected. Just graduated to Puree stage today after four weeks of a liquid diet. The diet was satisfying and I never went hungry. Now I'm adding some new foods to my diet for this 2 week stage.
In these COVID-19 times, the hospital does not allow visitors so no family could visit during my 5 day stay. I had four other required procedures that week for a total of 3 surgeries over 4 days.

I got a sleeve 7 years ago. Lost a good amount of weight then gained a lot back. (326 to 209 to 300) Revised to DS one month ago. With the transition diet I started in January, Pre-OP and Post-OP diets, I've lost 78 lbs. I've seen stats on expected weight loss from a DS. It is 85 to 100% of your excess weight. If you follow nutritional guidelines, you'll get to a normal or overweight class.
I've been told each operation triggers your body's response of a lack of hunger. Also, the required diet effectively reset my pouch. I'm feeling full after small meals. I used to be able to drink just about any amount of water. Now I feel limited even with water. This has made the weight loss quick and easy. I'm taking this revision as an opportunity to correct my past nutritional mistakes.

I had heartburn before the sleeve and reflux runs in my family, so I should of had the bypass to begin with but the surgeon said go with the sleeve and so I did. I loved my sleeve and I am sure you will love yours. Fingers crossed you never have the GERD. My revision was awfully painful and the differences between the two are something else.

Even with the possibility of GERD if I had it to do over again I'd still get a sleeve. It worked wonderfully well for me.

yeah, that isn't a terrible stat but it worries me. i think, at the end of the day, that's a risk worth taking. my surgeon wasn't concerned but we can discuss it again. vsg is the best option for my personal case based on a few factors and i know there is no surgery that doesn't carry some risk. i have also heard of people who developed GERD post vsg but it wasn't permanent and/or it was successfully treated by medicine. so that's the hope. thanks!

Stats say 20-30% of sleevers develop GERD afterward who didn't have it before. Talk to your surgeon and see what they say about it.

I had a revision and my surgeon made me do the preop and nutrition class again. The insurance needed to do a peer review with my dr but it was approved. You should not have an issue.

This is one thing that really scares me about getting the sleeve. i dont have gerd now and and im getting second thoughts...

I'm another sleeve to bypass revision due to GERD, which I didn't have before my sleeve. I would not have LINX, too similar to LapBand for me. When will doctors figure out that foreign bodies in the GI tract eventually cause problems? Like Tracyringo I'm on Medicare and it took a week for them to approve the surgery and another 2 weeks to get it scheduled. I had an upper GI, EGD, manometry, and a BRAVO test (yup, have GERD, told them that without the test) but other than those to nail down the diagnosis I haven't had any other test or diets or hoops to jump through. I'm scheduled for Monday 6/29.
Because your revision is for medical reasons, I would expect the process to go quickly for you, too. Good Luck!

Anxious to hear how Old Profile's surgery went. I am meeting with my surgeon next week to discuss bypass revision surgery for fixing GERD, hiatal hernia, and had weight gain after sleeve. Best of luck to you!!

None, because I'm getting it done in Mexico, where I got my sleeve done.

I revised from sleeve to rny 3 months ago. I had hernia repair with mesh. So far I am down 42 pounds and very happy about it! Only less than 20 to goal and I have no doubt at all that I will get there.
