    What's the skinny on coffee?

Were you instructed to stay off coffe pre-op as well? I've already given up everything else, so having to not have morning coffee is cruel, lol

    Before Your Surgery Suggestion!

Timely post! I am going for what is called the pre-op appontment today, which will entail seeing the RN, the nutritionist and that surgeon. It is 5 days before my surgery. I will ask for a book or some sort of diet guideline while I am there if it is not offered to me. It's a great center so I think they will have literature.
  3. Congratulations!! You look amazing, and I can only image how great you feel too! What an inspiration!
  4. A couple of things were the straws that broke the back. My brother had a heart attack at age 45. He too, was very obese. My mom cried to me after saying how scared she was about me as well. My husband is an active person and I can't hike, run or enjoy life as he does, with him at this weight and shape. Last, I realized that I immediately delete any picures anyone takes of me, becasue I can't stand how I look. Mt surgery is Oct 3!
  5. I' right there with you. I am also sleeved Oct 3. I constanty want something to eat! Protein shakes just are not enough. I am cranky and have a raging headache...can't take advil which is my 'go to'. Plus today I had a totally stressful day, like a 9/10 on the stress level. I was thinking about how I used to eat crap on days like this. I'm glad I'm not... but this sucks! The striggle is real! 5 and a half more days. Good luck to you!!

    This fast sucks

That would be tough. I'm glad that my husband has been making dinner for the kids. They have been enjoying pizzas a lot lately, lol! I just can't stand the idea of cooking and not eating it. So my hats off to you! I love the coloring book idea.

    This fast sucks

I know how you feel! I am on day 8. Around day 5 I started to get extremely irritated and short tempered. Today is better. I have been tryong to stay busy...that usually works, then when I get hungry I make a shake. Hang in there! We can do it. My surgery is Oct 3!
  8. Hi everyone! I am scheduled for sleeve surgery on October the 3rd. I am on the 6th day of my surgeon's strick pre-op diet: protien shakes and broth. I am soooo cranky! My poor husband! My poor kids!!! I am usually a VERY happy-go-lucky person, cool and calm, and hardly anything would light my temper. My husband alsways said he appreciates my low to no temper. Well, I am now wondering if that "cool as a cucumber" personality was due to food and being able to enjoy it. Now, being restricted and having to drink these shakes for calories, I am so irritable. Last night I was in bed at 10 reading, then came out to the kitchen at 11 for some Water and saw my 13 y/o son was up, using my MacBook, and had soda cans strewn about. I abruptly snatched away my MacBook, told him to clean up his crap and go to bed! Soooo not like me!!! I then stammered off to bed feeling angry. Does this get better?? Will my old, casual, happy self return? I'm NO fun at all to be around right now. I should send my whole family away to the Bahamas for the next three weeks, LOL. Or wait, may I should go

    Pre-Op diet Day 3

Hang in there! I just finished my 7th day on the pre-op. The shakes do curb the appetite for me but just to a point. Man, do I want "real" food again! I agree with the others who have responded. Stay busy. I takes walks with my dog. Also I stay full with liquids and broth when I dont want a shake. I gotta be honest, I have snapped with my temper a few times over the past few days. I am not fun to be around lately! The good news it that is temporary, we will ge tthrough it. Also, I have lost 6 lbs already, just on this diet!

    Pre-op diet cranky pants.

Update: Today I decided to stay as busy as possible. I walked the dog, twice.., long walks, he was happy! And ran tons of errands since I have the day off. This evening I watched a movie withthe family. Seems that as long as I stay really occupied, I'm pretty ok...as long as no one makes huge messes in the house, lol. Hope all you other pre-ops are surviving!

Thank you for this advice. I have two young teens in the house and they eat like crazy!! It's hard. I hope the anger subsides but if not I will seek counseling. My intuition is that I used to push down and ignore anger by eating. Can't do that anymore.

    Time for a New Topic---

My firsts concerts were the summer of 1983 and I saw two concerts in a week, can't remember which was first. One was The Tubes, and the other was David Gilmour of Pink Floyd!

    Protein shakes

I am currently on the pre-op Liquid Protein diet. I am using Six Star Elite whey Isolate. It comes in this big a** tub that you can buy at walmart or amazon. It's not bad tasting (though a bit on the sweet side), and it is 30 g protein a serving, and practially zero carbs and fat.

    Peeing

Me too. I'm on the pre-op liquids diet and I literally pee every hour. Including all night.

It sucks, but I try to think that this is the hardest part. After surgery hopefully we won't be as "hangry"!

Thanks for the encouragement! I just took Kristen's advice and walked the dog around my neighborhood. It felt good! I'll get through it...

    Pre-op diet cranky pants.

Hi there, Thanks for this advice! I love the idea of just taking a walk and blowing off steam. I think my dog would LOVE that too! I can take him! I should tell my family now that more of this might come, and to be warned, but sorry in advance! Good luck to you as well!! We will have to keep in touch since are both October sleevers.
