  1. I had my surgery on the 19th and still have left shoulder pain. It's from the gas sitting under your ribs cage, it pushes against nerves that lead up to you neck and shoulders. Mines also my left side only.

I got strong meds to help when sleeping, will naturally be broken down into you blood stream over a few weeks. I'm now day 11 and mine is about 70% better but still sore at night.

  2. My surgeon said I could keep smoking all throughout so I did. I actually had a smoke an hour before I went into my surgery.

Btw my surgery was flawless, he did an amazing job and said I was a pleasure to operate on after having two difficult ones before me. I also cheated on my pre-op diet with a Big Mac the day before. Yep I did it and own it!!! Hence why I was getting the surgery.

I feel that these rules are so subjective, some surgeons make you stop smoking some don't, some make you do a pre op diet for a month others a week like mine. It obviously shows if you screw up they can still operate on you, they just use it as a way to scare you to following what they ask. The risk is not high so don't sweat it if you mess up here or there.

  3. I'll be honest, I had lap band with plication and was meant to be on liquids for two weeks post surgery then mushy food for one week then solids. After one week of liquids I felt fine to eat solids, I trusted my body and I have been doing so for the past week. Mind you I'm not eating much and am chewing it down to mush but if anything it's given me more energy and I'm a lot happier. No issues whatsoever and I've lost 6kilos in less than two weeks.

Do what you think is right for you, I don't think moving to mushy food would harm you. You'll know if it doesn't sit right then stop.
