  1. Congrats! My worst pain was the third day...after all of the meds finally wore off. So don't be surprised if that happens. But I'm 6 days out now and don't have any real pain. Each day gets easier and easier. Good luck!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I had surgery on the 25th and am feeling exactly the same way (minus the cyst - ouch!!). It hits me randomly. I'll be fine and then weepy and sad all of the sudden. I try and just remind myself why I did this but it is really hard. Hang in there. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I'm 3 days post op and nowhere near my 60-90oz. I just try and do my best and I am able to drink a little more each day. I'm using a small 8oz sippy cup and just knocking out as many as I can. My Dr said not to start Protein until day 5 so I don't have that yet but it will count too. And I tried a SF popsicle today and it agreed with me. It's hard to keep up with it all though!! Finding a doc.

I would also make sure the program is a good fit for you and not just the surgeon. Do they have support groups, dieticians that you can meet with regularly, exercise groups for post surgery, etc. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I didn't have a pre-op diet either - just liquids for one day before surgery. I was so nervous but I had surgery on the 25th and it went completely fine. Every surgeon has different requirements. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. James - did you have surgery at St. V's Carmel? I'm 1 day post op here and I swear I've seen your pics in the hallway I'm waking! You look fantastic!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery 1/23

My surgery is Wednesday and I feel exactly the same! I don't have any sort of pre-op diet either and I keep thinking they are going to get into surgery and my liver will be huge or something.... I totally trust my surgeon and I'm sure it will be fine. I'm just ready for it to be over! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery TOMORROW

My surgeon only requires 1 day of pre-op diet too which scared me because I hear everyone else talking about 2 weeks or longer. But I'm trusting them and trying to eat healthy for this last week (surgery on the 25th). Best of luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pshyc Evaluation

Same as others. I had to take the questionnaire too - it was long but easy - and then talked to the dr for about 30 minutes. He asked about my support system, why I wanted the surgery, what I was nervous about, etc. easy peasy! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. My doctor also approves us for 4 weeks. I plan on taking it all just so I have time to get into my new routines without the stress of work. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. After 9 long months of working through insurance hurdles and pre-op testing and classes and lots of waiting I am finally scheduled for surgery on Jan 25. But then last night I was overcome with fear and was considering backing out. What the heck!?! Anyone else have this last minute fear? I've read that it's common to have buyers remorse right after surgery but no one ever talks about it before... I really am excited about starting my journey but I also can't shake the fear. Any advice? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Scared all of the sudden

Thanks for the support! I just keep reminding myself of why I'm doing this. I agree that the fear of the unknown is the worst. I'm not really scared of the actual surgery...just life after. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Denied BCBS california

Similar to what others have said, despite having years of weight loss attempts I had to do another 6 months of medically supervised weight loss to meet the insurance requirement. I'm also Anthem BCBS but in Indiana. I was pretty ticked off when I found out I had to wait even longer to get surgery. Luckily my bariatric program offers this so I was able to get started with them pretty quickly. Once I completed my 6 months and they submitted I had an approval in under 2 weeks and have surgery scheduled for Jan 25.
