I am 3 minutes months out from VSG and could eat that whole plate, I would be extremely full and definitely feel the restriction and uncomfortable, but I could eat that much. (Not that I would )
I'm 5 months out and there is no way I could get even half that down if I stuffed. I don't see how at 3 months you could get that down. That is easily 1lb of food.< br>

On the go
cheese - babybel, laughing cow, cheese sticks
Lunchables (don't eat the crackers)
Okios triple zero yogurts (cup or drink)
High Protein chips/crackers like Quest, WonderSlim, Medifast etc.
I make unflavored Protein added puddings and Gelatin. You can buy 2-5oz cups and lids at your local restaurant supply store.
At home meals
I've made shrimp (ground) curry with zucchini, chicken and cheese stuffed crepes, Korean bbq, swai with again glaze, crust less quiche. They all have 300cals or less per serving with 17g protein or more.
Homemade protein fudgecicles
12oz fairlife milk and 2 scoops GENEPRO. Mix well and pour into 6 pack 3oz popcicle mold. Makes 6 serving 54 cals and 10g protein. Can add in things like PB2, banana baby food, instant coffee, sugar free syrups or ground freeze dried strawberries for only a few more cals and carbs.

8oz baby shrimp, 80g avocado, 20g mayo, 20g sour cream with a couple of pinches of garlic, onion and old Bay. Makes (4) 2.75oz servings with 120 cals, 6g carbs, 2g fat and 14g Protein. You could cut down on the sauce ingredients or add more shrimp since it made more than enough to cover.
Cheesy chicken stuffed crepes
I don't remember the exact amounts but hard to screw up. This is based on what I remember.
Filling - 1 small can of canned chicken, drained. 2 tbls Condensed cream of chicken, 2 Oz grated cheese (reserve 0.5oz for topping) and salt/pepper/garlic & onion powder to taste.
Crepes - basic crepe recipe from Internet. Can go low carb but didn't seem worth it.
I made 6 4in crepes and divided the filling among them. Topped with cheese and broiled until melted. 271 cals and 17g protein for 2 based on calcs at the time. Husband ate 1, I ate 1.5.
Korean bbq
Used spice packet from store and low carb ketchup and 8oz short ribs and cooked in instapot. Not sure how to calculate since 90% of the sauce gets left behind. Husband loved it. -

I am almost 5 months post op. I have lost 97lbs. I no longer take meds for diabetes, edema, or gout. I don't need my bipap machine and the pain in my knees is no longer a constant issue. The tendinitis in both my elbows has finally resolved, it wasn't healing because I was having to push myself out of a seating position. My ortho says if I continue on this path, I will be able to stop the degeneration of my knees and no longer will need to get both replaced within 10 years. All that and I am only half way to goal. Think about what this kind of change can do for your life.

I agree that taking only part of the stomach would be pointless. You are basically asking for the surgeon to leave you the ability to continue to same negative behaviors that made you fat in the first place. The removal of ghrelin helps in the early stages, but hunger comes back. If you can still back away a pound or more of food when that happens you will quickly regain everything you have lost.
I still can eat most of the foods I could eat before. I just eat a few bites, to enjoy the flavor, rather than mindlessly eat until it's gone or I can't fit anymore in. -
I've done some interesting things.
Avocado Shrimp salad - 8oz vary shrimp, 80g avocado, 20g mayo, 20g sour cream with a couple of pinches of garlic, onion and old Bay. Makes 4 2.75oz servings with 120 cals, 6g carbs, 2g fat and 14g Protein. World's tiniest 3 course romantic dinner. Wedding rings for scale. It's a little heavy on the cals but it is a special occasion and fits his stages.
Appetizer - Goat cheese and salmon on 3 cheese wafers with balsamic glaze (35 cals 2 protein)
Entree - chicken and cheese stuffed crepes with steamed baby zucchini (271 cals 17 protein)
Dessert - chocolate cheesecake mousse (150 cals 13.5 protein)

Now that the evacuation has been lifted, thoughts of valentine's day has returned.
In the past, I made him things like a bouquet of chocolate covered strawberries and bacon roses. Now I don't even know what to make for dinner.
Any ideas for a somewhat fancy meal for someone in stage 2?

I was denied three times before I got approval. My husband was denied 4 times. The insurance company doesn't want to pay out right away. They're going to try to find every little reason to fight you. Ask your surgeon to do a peer-to-peer , write a letter describing how the way it affects you and keep pushing.
When I was getting the runaround from my insurance company I pushed through the we don't talk to the insurance barrier and refused to get off the phone until I could speak somebody who could give me actual information. It helped me find out exactly why they were denying me and what ways I could get around that. Don't give up you will make it eventually. It took me 18 months from start to finish and my husband 22 months. He gets sleeved on Wednesday and I will be 4 months out on the 5th.

Plain Water actively hurts my stomach. I know it sounds weird but my surgeon said it's not uncommon side effect. I use a lot of mios and Crystal Light. I drink a lot iced tea. I also like the 5 calorie diet cranberry juice cocktails.I force myself to drink Water as much as I can but unfortunately I probably get only 30oz a day since I can't drink during or right after I eat I wait 30 minutes then by the time I do drink it feels and tastes awful. But I can drink juice, tea, or even coffee easily.

I also like to add ice to my Protein drinks and put it in the Ninja blender. It up my liquid and give a better texture to the drinks. Makes it feel more like a frappuccino then a Protein Drink. This works really well with my Fairlife chocolate Milk genpro shakes. Turns 12 ounces into 20 without much loss of taste

70 pounds is a lot of weight in 4 months. I started at 385 and I'm only down 90 so comparatively you're doing really good. Keeping track of everything you eat is always a good sign. I also have lost fair amount to wait in the last 2 weeks because I've been doing the pre-op liquid diet with my husband. It seemed to break my stall. If you find yourself eating stuff you shouldn't be, why not go back a stage or two? Go back to my mushies or to pure liquid for a couple of days.

Have you picked your surgeon? Do you even get a choice with Kaiser? If so, I recommend Dr Richard Nguyen at Lifetime Surgical. He is over at Good Samaritan and he is awesome. I had no pain or negative side effects. He is going my husband s surgery next week.Hi all! I am in San Jose and just started the process. I have much to learn and go through but am hopeful for the Kaiser program

And I am wearing size 18 jeans! I grabbed them out of the closet along with a pair of 20s (I've been in 22-24s for the last 3 months) and tried them on on a whim. I figured that the 18s would be a no go but they fit like a glove!

The one with my husband is around my highest weight.
The side by side are 25lbs (left) and 50lbs (right) lost.
The single shot is me today. Four months since I started my pre op diet. I am exactly 300.0lbs and 85lbs down.

Anybody interested in posting just before and after pics?
Most of the other threads are old, or bloated with "you look awesome" and "you go girl!" type comments. It makes it difficult (esp on mobile phones) to dig through to the pics most people are interested in.
I know I would be interested in seeing a condensed "look book"

At what point do I worry about calorie deficit?
in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Posted
I started working out by taking aqua aerobics classes. At what point do I change my diet due to the additional caloric expenditure? My typical intake is 900-1100 calories and 80-90g Protein a day. I have lost 100lbs in 5 months with no exercise other than daily life activities.
Yesterday I did a 60 min class and 15 mins of "swimming" laps. My ability to actually swim is a step above doggy paddle. Acording to sparkpeople that was 700cals burned. My intake yesterday was 1025cals and 77g protein. I know, in general, you are not supposed to eat back the cals burned while exercising but most people don't eat as few calories as a post op does. 300 net cals doesn't seem like enough but I have frequent stalls.
At what point should I try to increase my intake? The plan is to try and take one of these aqua classes at least 5x a week.
