    Straws

It depends on what kind of slush (like a slurpee from 711?) and how you handle sugar. I really badly wanted a slurpee but no one in my area had any sugar free slurpees. I made one myself with crystal light and ice in my ninja. Not perfect but close enough. I use straws too. My surgeon said it was ok, it was up to me and my reaction. I havent had any negitive experiences. HW 385 SW 359 CW 331 (54lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

    Regular foods: what to eat?

If you were responding to me, I didnt think you were being hateful. Its an honest question for a person who was recent sleeved like I have. Husband eats way more than I can, and still has ghrenlin that makes him cranky, so I make carb sides for him. HW 385 SW 359 CW 331 (54lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

    Regular foods: what to eat?

Bean carbs yes... others like rice, choe mein and potatoes... no. Those are to fill up the husband while we are waiting for his ins approval. HW 385 SW 359 CW 331 (54lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16
  6. I didnt really have a choice in the begining. My original surgeon was the only one within 100 miles that took my insurance. He had a $2500 lifestyle management fee, which I couldnt afford, so I started looking around for another surgeon that accepted medical and was within a resonable distance. Dr. Richard Nguyen of Lifetime Surgical in San Jose, CA did an awesome job for me. He is also going to sleeve my husband. HW 385 SW 359 CW 331 (54lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

  8. I think my stall might finally be lifting. Ive been fluctuating between 332 and 335 since a week ago Monday. Driving me nuts since I have been under 1000 cals and over 70 grams of Protein. But for the second day, I have posted a number under 332... 331.8 and 331 to be exact. Hopefully this will remain a downward spiral. I am 3.8 lbs away from losing 15% of my starting weight and 6lbs away from 30% of my excess weigh. I did do my measurements thou and its 21 inches overall down in less than 2 months. 9. Does anyone else use pic apps to compare before and afters? I like to use picstich. Lets see your facial before and afters... This is mine. I plan on taking a pic in the same shirt every 25lbs. I prob wouldnt have picked the one I am wearing in the last two photos but it was what I was wraring in my preop pics. I didnt plan ahead. HW 385 SW 359 CW 335 (50lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

    Raise your hand . . .

I agree with this list. I really like The Duff. You might like the book "Bet Me" by Jennifer Crusie if you liked The Duff. The main character is not your typical female lead and the supporting characters are hilarious. Plus there are sexy donuts. HW 385 SW 359 CW 331 (54lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

Going back to work after WLS

I was out 4 days full time (one of those was for travel/preop) and 5 days part time. I could have gone full time after my second day back but i was enjoying the alone time. HW 385 SW 359 CW 331 (54lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

    Best Chicken Wings

I dont have a preferred flavor yet (havent tried wings post op) but I have a prefered method of cooking. Its the Alton Brown method. I have noticed that it works best on never frozen wings. After breaking down the flats and the drums, steam your wings for 10 min. Dont overcrowd the pan, do it in batches if ness. The bake on a wire rack at 400 for 20 min on each side. They will come out really crispy. Toss to coat. If you use a thick sauce like bbq or teriyaki put back in the oven on broil for 1-2 min per side (watch it!) I used to prefer garlic parm which should be fairly on plan. I also have made a ranch dip using greek yogurt that came out well. I added GENEPRO but that is optional. 14. Im not over 400 but I was close. I was 385. Its been not quite 2 months since i started the preop diet and 6 weks since my surgery. Ive lost a total 54lbs and 29lbs since the surgery. HW 385 SW 359 CW 331 (54lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

    Having an oh $h!t moment

It doesnt take much skill to make the basics for this diet. You can oven roast most meats and roast/steam a lot of the veggies. HW 385 SW 359 CW 331 (54lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

    I'm too Fat

Thats a crappy dr. I was 385 at my highest and i didnt have any issues with the xray table or scales. It was a typical office, not a bariatric one either. HW 385 SW 359 CW 331 (54lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

    Fitbit users?

I love my fitbit alta. I like how it keeps me motivated without being in the way, as i am not really a watch person. The one issue i had was that its kinda ugly. My husband is fixing that by getting me a fancy bracelet for it for christmas. Tamalynparedes@gmail.com HW 385 SW 359 CW 331 (54lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

    Does it really hurt?

I had iv pain meds (the morphine) but i wasnt in any major pain the second day, so we switched to liquid vicoden. That stuff is horrible tasting, and i wasnt in enough pain to make a 3rd dose worth it. Third day no pain at all, but was worried about the effects of a bumpy car ride so took the third dose. They sent me home with 45 vicoden. I could have kept the morphine the second day and had more doses of vicoden if i needed. HW 385 SW 359 CW 331 (54lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

    Does it really hurt?

It really does vary from person to person. Not trying to discourage, but a woman who had surgery the same day and time as me was still having to use Oxy to sleep and was dealing with a,lot of pain issues. A lot of people has gas issues. I didnt, but I dont want you to think we lied to you if every thing is mot hunky dory. Even with pain, i think its worth it. I have never lost 55lbs in 2 months before HW 385 SW 359 CW 331 (54lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

    Does it really hurt?

I have a low tolerance for pain and a high tolerance for opiods. I take vicoden for pain that most people would normally take 400-800 mgs of motrin because OTC doesnt work for me anymore. I hit the morphine button a lot the first day, more because i could rather that actual pain. Second day we switched to liquid vicoden and i had 2. Third day was discharge, and i had a liquid vicoden to help get in front of any pain caused by the 3 hour drive home. I havent used anything (at all) since. HW 385 SW 359 CW 335 (50lbs down!) Work related

I took off 4 days full time and 5 days part time. In hindsight, more time off would have helpful as I am still having a hard time getting the 64oz in. I often forget to drink at work. I couldnt take more because of finances and because i am the only person in my department. Healthwise, i was fine after 5 days. HW 385 SW 359 CW 335 (50lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

    My Egd that never was!

Yep. Learn what works for you, tell them, and stick to your guns. I always tell them to use an infant butterfly needle and take the blood outvof my hand. For IVs, avoid the elbow and go for the forearm or upper arm. They blew two veins in the ER visit (about 12 weeks ago) and a decent sized bruise for the IV for my VSG (6 weeks ago). I still have faint discoloration. HW 385 SW 359 CW 335 (50lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16
