Doctors Discussing Weight Loss With Patients

They're not saying that doctors shouldn't tell you you're overweight and they need to lose weight. They're saying that telling you you need to lose weight without giving you the proper tools on how to do anything about it is a negative. If I tell you to go cook a fancy dinner but don't tell you where to buy the ingredients for what recipe do you use you're just going to get frustrated and upset. The request and advice to lose weight it should be accompanied by solid information, or a specific treatment plan so that the patient doesn't feel discouraged. Weight loss is hard if you don't have the tools or the knowledge to do it. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16

Anyone interested in finding local pals?

Wow. Its still fresh! How are you healing? HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16 I dont understand your post. How would the "head hancho" be able to assist you? HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16 I'm healing great! Have close to no problems. Just a little gassy sometimes. My highest was 387. Surgery weight was 349. So we are very close in numbers also! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App Almost creepy close. I have also had no major issues. We should meet up sometime. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16 We should! That would be cool. Do u have any kids?? Cus that would be perfect. Haha Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App Alas, no kids. Husband and I have 3 dogs instead. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16
  4. I also have had no problems. I am 10 days post-op. I don't always get my Protein or my Fluid in but that's more because of me not doing it (getting distracted) rather than an incapacity. I had no issues with gas pains. My main problem has been a little bit of chest pressure from acid and the occasional nausea. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16
  5. I packed a bunch of stuff i thought i would need but didnt. Phone, charger, underwear, pj pants (felt naked in the gowns) and slippers (hate the hospital socks) Thats all i used. My hospital was 180 miles away (3 hours) so I get the worry, but you are likely to be too tired to do much more than sleep, pee and vitals. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16
  6. Has anyone else used the kitchenaid spiralizer? I saw the posts about the zoodles, which prompted the search for a spiralizer. I tried one of the plastic cheapy ones with little success. I have a kitchenaid, but not sure about the $100 price tag. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16

    Surgery was last night

I can't believe how lucky I was. I see all these posts about extreme pain. I was hitting the morphine button pretty much every time I remembered it was there the day of surgery but I really don't remember any pain. Never had any of the gas issues. The worst part was no liquids. Surgeon said no liquids for 24 hours after surgery and I already been with no liquids for 12 hours prior. Day 2 I was taking liquid Vicodin but only had two doses. I was only able to get a few steps at a time but food was going down okay. Day three, there was that was really bad nausea and I had to take three different types of anti nausea medicine to get under control but that was it. I had one dose of liquid Vicodin in anticipation of a long car ride and a half a Vicodin when I got home but nothing since. One of the posters who was sleeve that pretty much the exact same time I was still needs Tramadol and Oxycodone to sleep. I do have problems with pressure in my chest when eating and often all day but nothing to the level of true pain. I've got to pray to the gods of weight loss surgery for sparing me some of the stuff that you guys are going through. You have my sympathies. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16

    Just curious

I am 9 days out. I was sleeved on 10/5 and was 359. When i left the hospital i was 369, and today i am 351. So i lost 8lbs or 18lbs depending on how you look at it. I also lost 25lbs during the 2 week pre op diet. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16

    Anthem Blue cross Blue Shield

I have anthem blue cross blue shield in CA. It is the company that manages medi-cal in my area. It covered my surgery, but i did have to jump thru some hoops including fighting two denials. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16

    Sleeping After Sleeve Surgery

I am a side sleeper, sometimes a 3/4 sleeper. I use a sobakawa cloud pillow ($20 at BBB) tucked into my side to support my tummy. It has helped alot because it forms around lumps and bumps without too much pressure HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16

    Diarrhea

Only 9 days post op and your already eating bananas? Im 8 days post op and still on liquids only. Did the Dr approve the solid foods? Only eating once a day could be part of the problem. Prior to surgery I had issues with chronic diarrhea that was a combination of bile issues and only eating once a day. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16
  23. that I am getting a little irratated at how helpful, careful, sweet etc my husband is being? Every time i call him or grimace he is like "whats wrong? Are you ok? What do you need?" and when I get up he is asking where am i going or if i need help. I appreciate him trying to be there for me (especially since he is pretty lazy most of the time) but its getting a little trying. Tomorrow will be one week post op. I know that when he has the surgery he will be a giant baby and i will not be able to be anywhere near as doting without getting irratated, nor will i be able to be as physically helpful as i will be less than 6 weeks post op. Am i horrible?

Does it make me a horrible wife

These are the two best replies I've seen! Spot on, IMO. Also, is your husband anxious or obsessive. Mine is. For him, taking care of someone is his was of dealing with that anxiety. That is another possibility. Oh, and as for the other guy who called you Debbie Downer, I think he might be projecting. I didn't get the impression you were downing your hubs for being lazy as much as making a general observation. Like he would normally NOT offer to get you a drink or whatever and would be the kind to ask you to get him one. I didn't AT ALL take your comments as intending to insult your hubs. You are spot on. Things he said to me a couple of days ago made it clear that he was reacting to anxiety from not being with me during the surgery. So was the remark about general laziness, like asking me to get him a soda rather than get it himself. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16

    Fried chicken

Right before surgery i was obsessed with sricha ranch. I wonder if I can come up with a healthy version using greek yogurt when my time comes. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16
