  2. I am with you @cbonet. I am going to take these words of advice here. My nurse even told me NOT to weigh myself when I got home from the hospital (you KNOW I did anyway) she said each IV bag weighs 2 1/2 pounds and she said there is no way I was eliminating that much. I had several bags over the 2 days I was in. I am down 1 1/2 pounds since Wednesday. FIVE days, 1.5 pounds! I am trying to not get frustrated. I lost more on the preop diet. But I know it will come. It HAS to. I am barely getting 30 oz of fluids in a day and my Protein has been difficult (waiting for some new stuff to come in the mail, the shakes I have gag me and make my stomach feel ill) I am hopeful things turn around for BOTH of us soon!

    Eating is difficult

Eggs are not allowed through my plan until after 8 weeks, due to them being such a harsh protein to digest. I think like the others have said, Greek yogurt, finely pureed meats, and things like cream of wheat with unflavored protein powder my be gentler on your healing tummy. Home from the hospital

Surgery date 9/28. Day 4 for me and I agree @@motherboard, I feel like I did a ton of research, but was ill prepared for the post surgical pain and dietary restriction. I am barely getting 24 oz down and nearly no Protein. I just keep plugging away. Going 7-8 hrs with pain meds now and getting around fine. Even folded a few batches of clothes today. Also had hernia repair so perhaps that is why my pain was SO MUCH more than what was mentioned in all my pre-op support groups. Today I started beef broth and am much happier...couldn't stomach anymore choc protein. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

No desire to eat or drik

my hubby just picked me up some swansons beef broth. Added some salt and pepper and I am a happy girl. I purchased some unflavored Protein and when that comes in I'll add it. But NOTHING tasted good. All the protein products are so sweet. Loving my savory "dinner" of a mug of beef broth. First thing, other than popsicles, I have been happy to drink/eat.

No desire to eat or drik

The first 4 or 5 days I loved them, now I can't stand them. Same with Jello. I'm forcing myself to get in what I do. Sonic unsweet tea with lemon has been my favorite so far. I haven't had any in a few days, so I pray that I still like that. I like more salty than sweet, and most of what I can have is sweet. I wish I could hit fast forward a little. Lol So far today, 1/4 cup of applesauce and about 8 oz of fluids. I'm still trying. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App I am with you there. I can barely gag down choc Protein and jello. Everything is so sweet and the chicken protein makes me nauseous. I am more of a savory than sweet person and these few weeks are going to be a challenge. I have a desire to eat, but more like the idea of it. A cup of coffee and a slice of toast sounded wonderful this morning. But I choked down 2oz of protein instead.???? Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

    Protein drinks

The whole protein/liquid thing has been a challenge for me. I an 4 days in and can tolerate sips of Water and popsicles but everything else makes me feel queasy. I try to get in a few ounces of Protein shake in the morning and had a Multivitamin this morning, but then my stomach just gargles for hours. Going to buy some unflavored powder today to see if I can add it to something else. Premier choc and unjury chicken were my go tos for my pre-open diet and now I can barely gag them down. Getting frustrated that I am doing so poorly at this post-op stuff. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

    Question for hiatal hernia people

Yes. My heating pad is my new best friend. I hope you are feeling better soon! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I have also enjoyed a great bit of relief from Biofreeze. I have a spray bottle of it and I spray my shouldered and neck area a couple times a day. Just don't use it WITH a heating pad. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

    Question for hiatal hernia people

I am 3 days out and finding the hernia repair pain is worse than the sleeve. Seems that the pain increases with every sip of Water and every bite of Jello. Dr. Said it will be temporary. Heating pad and time... Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

  13. Anyone not have to do liquids? I have a pre-open diet, but it includes unlimited veggies and 3-4oz of lean meat/egg Protein. Between Protein shakes and big salads, I am finding it very tolerable. But strange to so many of you are talking about a liquid diet. I wonder why I don't have that restriction?? 14. September 28th here. I am also nervous and distracted. My pre-op diet is, luckily, high Protein, low carb, not liquid. And I am finding it pretty tolerable. But I do get very little done at work. . Very much looking forward to waking up in recovery. I just want to be on the other side of this. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

    Protein Shakes

Me too. I could do the chocolate, but the vanilla was very unsettling to my stomach. And oddly, I did Injury chicken on day 2. Liked it quite a bit, but now it turns my stomach. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App
