I can not give you advice because I am not in your situation but don't feel alone, there are a ton of people on here and can help you get through this. Good luck to you.
  2. This is not about insurance (: I was wondering how long did it take for your PCP's office to send over your medical records to weight loss clinic? I signed my release on 09/06/2016 and the surgeon still has not received me. I did 3 months of diet visits with him and the new place is wanting me to come and do 3 months with them since they have not received my records. I am in jeopardy of losing my job because of all the extra things I have had to go through. I can not afford to miss work and see them again. I called my doctors office and they said it takes 2 weeks its been a month. I am starting to freak out now. Thank you in advance

    How long did it take?

Thank you, they seriously keep giving me the run around. I just don't want to lose my job. With being a mom and always having a sick child as well as going to countless appointments to satisfy blue shield I am out of options and I cant lose my job.
  4. GOOD LUCK!!!!! (: Enjoy the losers bench (:
  5. I understand that, good for you (:
  6. Did you have to go to your PCP? If you had the choice did you like going to your PCP or did you like going to the Registered Dietitian more? I am still going to my diet visits until they submit to insurance but I am thinking of going to my PCP I really like him a lot and the RD I don't really care too much for. Thanks in advance.
  7. That makes a lot of sense, I think I am more scared of the RD than my PCP because I feel like he knows me pretty good and tells me how it is. I am done with my appointments but I continue to go because I think it will be better for me in the long run. I didn't know if I should switch back to my PCP or just continue to go to the RD and actually get to know her. Thank you for your feedback the couple times I have posted you comment, I really appreciate it. (:

    So Sad

Thank you, would it be beneficial to do it now and then when everything is submitted to insurance have them send that as well? Or should I wait if it is denied? Write up a letter describing your attempts at weight loss, how the weight effects you physically and emotionally, family history of co-morbidities etc. It helped me get my approval pushed through... it cant hurt.

    So Sad

I am actually thinking about self paying and going to Mexico when next year if this does not work out for me.

    So Sad

Thank you, I can not stand the thought of giving up because I have been fighting for so long now. I figure I will just wait until I actually get denied and if the appeal does not work. I am confused as to what 2 years because at the end of 2014 I actually started going to the doctor and was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and got my tonsils out in January of 2015 and I guess that's when it went away but technically as of 07/28/2016 I don't have sleep apnea anymore. so before that I had one comorbidity and then I had a baby in January of this year. But its been almost 9 months and im just getting heavier and heavier and I am pre-diabetic. Hopefully I am just thinking the worse and that's not what is going to happen.

No I don't have any other then that I am pre-diabetic. And I have been in IA for 5 years and I either went to the ER and the its been 2 places that I have been that has my weight and such.
  12. I switched after I finished my requirements and now we are just waiting for them to send over my stuff, it has been 3 weeks now. But its well worth it. Good Luck (:
  13. Were your diet visits with a registered dietitian or pcp? I am asking because I have completed my 6 months and switched to a new place and they are saying that it does not count if it is with a registered dietitian. But insurance is saying that it does count because they are licensed. I am freaking out over here. Ive done more than 6 months anyways, I have been doing this since January and my doctor referred me to see a dietitian. Thank you.

    YAY!

My insurance sent me over information stating that the dietitian is acceptable to use for my diet visits! I am so happy and they faxed the clinic both copies. I meet with them tomorrow and I have been fighting with them for 3 weeks about this. So hopefully now that documentation was sent to them stating that it is acceptable to use a registered dietitian, pcp, or nurse practitioner to satisfy my diet visits. So hopefully we can get everything submitted to blue shield of CA and go on about my business.

    Ashamed

My supervisor every week always asks me if I am still going through with the surgery. He always asks me why and tell me that I am taking the easy way out but he is very unhealthy himself. When I decided to go on this journey I really was scared of how people would think, I always knew it would be some ignorant people and the ignorance really did show. You are getting yourself healthier and extending your life, you will be able to do things that you couldn't have done before. This is by no means an easy lifestyle change but you can do it and that's all that matters. GOOD LUCK!

    Finally starting the process again

I finally found my perfect doctor and it is my 3rd one, I have completed everything but now they are saying my visits did not count because I saw a registered dietitian so hopefully they will stop fighting with me and just submit because Blue Shield is saying that they should submit. Good luck to you.

    Denied

I know this is a few months old but I am sorry to hear this and hopefully everything goes smoothly after you complete your weigh ins!

    6 month Diet Visits

Thank you, my PCP referred me to the weight loss clinic and then basically told me to go to them for everything including the dietitian visits. Im wondering If we did this all wrong because the new clinic said they will submit to insurance but it will get denied because I did not see a nurse practitioner or PCP instead I saw a registered dietitian. I just don't get why a registered dietitian at a weight loss center is not sufficient enough. And I saw my pcp for 4 months and also saw them as well because sometimes I was doubling on my appointments with them both.

    6 month Diet Visits

That's exactly what I said but the new place is very adamant and Im feeling like I made a mistake with them but the other place was very unprofessional they were bullies and made me feel like crap because of my fluctuating weight. I have bad anxiety and I dreaded going to them even if I was a pound off. They told me to lose 15lbs I lost 14 in 2.5 weeks and then i had an appointment and they told me that I was doing something wrong because I did not lose the 15lbs or more. They were very disheartening.
  21. I have been to 2 weight loss clinics and decided on 1. They were horrible and I finished all of my requirements but I just couldn't deal with the way myself and others were treated so I switched to a different place and I love it. My problem is that the new place I am going through is stating that my insurance requires medically supervised diet which I thought I went to with a registered dietitian at the old place and even some with my pcp. I'm going crazy over this because I have all my other requirements completed. When I spoke with blue shield they have told me that it could be with a registered dietitian and it will still count. I've asked them to submit to insurance anyways after we get everything. But she's pretty adamant I will get denied. Has anyone been through this? Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App
