  1. Thank you. I'm mostly worried about the Protein. I also think I'm going to need to go back to work later. Thought I'd be able to go back a week from today (desk job). Sent from my SM-T550 using the BariatricPal App
  2. Thank you. The Protein just worries me. I think I am going to need extra time off work. I thought I could go back a week from today. Sent from my SM-T550 using the BariatricPal App
  3. Yikes. I start throwing up, believe me I have tried getting it all in. I'm going to look in to some liquid Protein drops Sent from my SM-T550 using the BariatricPal App
  4. 20 grams protein is extremely low. My protein target is 100 grams. What is your protein target? You need to be doing everything you can to get in all of your protein and fluids. Sip, sip, sip, and sip some more.Oh the milk has 9g protein. So 33 total today. Sent from my SM-T550 using the BariatricPal App
  5. 75 to 100. This is only day 4 post op. I take 15 pills, I think they're taking up almost all the space. I sip sip sip - hot is easier so am sipping hot cocoa made from chocolate Protein mix, 24g protein. Sent from my SM-T550 using the BariatricPal App
  6. Hi - I take Lamictal, and when I found out that my nurse wouldn't give it to me the night I was in the hospital I freaked out. My mom and husband tried to talk to her - it wasn't her, but my surgeon. I take Xanax as well as 2 antidepressants and 1 sleep med. Nurse asked for Ativan since it can be given IV. He came back and offered benadryl...... it was a bad situation - I don't say this to scare you, but to share so you can cross that bridge up front. The preoperative nurse said they'd have all my meds for me, so I thought I was fine. Please ask your team - it was a rough night, as I'm sure you can imagine. The good news!!!! I'm 4 days post op, can swallow meds (some have to be cut, and very very spaced out) and I think they fill my little stomach up as I'm struggling with protein/calories. But my mental health is fine, just the same as it was before surgery so don't worry. I also worked hard to be mentally stable, the meds are part of my weight gain, but I am good post op so wanted to share and reassure you. Please just ask about your overnight hospital stay ❤???? 7. All those calories come from a proteim shake :-) better yesterday with about 20g protein
  8. Wow. I was 9/15 ... I can't even think of solid food (although I was tempted to pur the lasagna my husband had for dinner in the blender). I'm choking down water, but can't get enough even sipping all day. I'm so glad you're doing well, and your surgeon seems awesome with the pain control and actual food. Congrats and best wishes to you!LOL, my husband had lasagne for dinner tonight too- and it smelled AMAZING! I went upstairs with my water...Torture....

  10. My clinic told me. I worked with my pcp on the DASH diet, it is helpful for blood pressure but wouldn't necessarily make me gain weight. Think south beach with no salt (grain rice, grain Pasta, fish/chicken). My weight gain is also heavily from rx meds. So it's impossible to get off without serious intervention ie surgery.
  11. I feel severly full and on the verge of vomiting by the end of the day (11pm here). I got in maybe half my Water, half a Protein shake, and 3 small bites of Jello. This is my best day yet. With surgery 4 days ago, how long until the bloating and complete fullness go away? I'm taking tiny sips and walking. I also try to stretch my torso side to side, etc to loosen things up. I take a lot of pills and I think they're taking up all the room. I am so thirsty. ????
  12. I hope I can get off meds like that - you're doing fantastic! Thanks for sharing your story with so much detail.
  13. Hmm.. soup is a good idea. It's hard especially this early in the game since we are so restricted. Will you still be on clears? Maybe just sip tea and tell her you don't feel well because of nerves. If your diet allows the eggs I would just go for it. It's so weird how every surgeon has a different diet to follow. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App It is so weird. Mine was liquid only 2 weeks pre-op and Clear liquids 2 weeks after. Then, full liquids for another week! I also had a 41 BMI, some of his patients have to do 6 weeks pre-op!
  14. Wow! No gas pain, you're so lucky! I am still trying to get all the gas out.
  15. I unfortunately had to maintain a higher weight to qualify for surgery as I was in the 40-41 area the past year. If I lost 10 pounds, I was in trouble insurance wise.
  16. The only desire I've had is for a bite of cheese. At 4 days post op, I know I'd regret it big time. Other than that - nothing sounds especially good. I don't care what flavor my jello is. I tried some cucumber, grapefruit and mint water that was revolting.
  17. I'm sorry. My mom has breast cancer, it was part of the reason I got so overweight. It sucks. I loved myself at my size, but knew it was bad for my health - tired of not being able to park on the 4th and 5th floor of the parking deck and having to worry about getting back up the stairs, tired of the plantar fasciitis pain in my feet. I'm sure it gets easier. ❤
  18. I think some people's bodies go into shock. Weight loss doesn't happen because they go into starvation mode. Stay the course, I'm sure it will come!!
  19. 9/15 here. Doing ok with food but not at my full protein shake or my 64oz of fluid. Working up to it hopefully. Half a protein shake today.
  20. I started looking into this 15 months ago. I'm lucky to live by Lake Norman, NC where Dr. Heider is. I went to his seminar and was convinced. I was 25 then (just turned 27 a month ago) and worried about being too young. But his staff is great and put me at ease. From there was getting started with the Lake Norman SWL center, and then 6 months documented diet with my pcp. February '16 all the paperwork was sent in, of course insurance denied it. The center was great, and fought it for me. In July, I was finally approved after 13 months. Surgery was scheduled for 9/15. All the pre-op went well, I managed to not cheat my diet at all, and my center is liquid only Optifast for 2 weeks. Day/night of surgery was a lot more painful than I expected. Day 2, came home late afternoon - really struggled to drink enough and get my pills in. Paced all around my house for a good while. Yesterday was a bit better. I've learned hot liquids go down easier than cold or even room temp. Today, day 4 is going ok. Made some hot chocolate with Protein mix which went down okay. Until day 11, I'm on broth, Jello, Protein shakes, and sugar free popsicles only. It's hard to eat/drink enough calories that way. I'm starting to feel a bit hungry - not surprising, since I have eaten maybe 200 calories in the past 3 days. Seems all the room in my pouch goes to pills I have to take. I also haven't had a bowel movement, but there's not really anything going in. Hopefully that's normal and not an issue. Looking forward to what's to come! Any and all advice is appreciated
  21. Thanks for sharing! Is it hard for everyone to get 64oz of water and 80g of protein in? I can't - day 3 only though.
  22. Has anyone tried heating up a choco protein shake as "hot chocolate" - hot liquids are much easier on me
  23. I'm in the exact same place - warm liquids are easier. Got maybe an ounce of Protein shake in. Good luck!!! Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
  24. I'm in Lake Norman - used Dr. Heider. 2 days post op. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
