    Work related

I scheduled it where I am taking one week of PTO and I asked for remote access so I will work from home for 2 weeks and the it backs up for Christmas and we receive a week off for the holiday. So a total of 4 weeks. I am so thankful for that. If they didn't give me remote access I would have to go back after a week. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How did WLS effect your marriage...

I am worried about this as well my husband and we have been together since high school and through many changes. food is, however, something that we both enjoy. Not pigging out, but just experiencing different foods. When I brought up weight loss surgery, he was very supportive. He has been wanting to make a change as well and preparing for surgery has helped us. We go on walk every day after work, we don't eat fast food any more. He is very supportive with my gluten free lifestyle as well. We check menus before eating out and if they bring us bread we rub it on the table to so won't eat it . He does forget sometimes. The other day he brought home sour candies and said he realized I can't have any, so he opened them up and poured mustard on them and threw them right away. Wasting $2 is better than the temptation! Why no preop diet?

Same. My doctor joked "he can lift any liver up no problem" but explained that you go through so much change after surgery, why starve yourself before hand if it's not going to help. Now I am on a balanced diet for pre op but nothing that it just liquid or just Protein. This diet just helps cut out sugars and the heavy carbs to get you on the right track mentally. What is your pre-op diet?

I don't have a pre op diet required. I am just on a balanced meal plan, but I don't have to change anything as surgery gets closer. We are expected to loose 5-10 pounds overall with the balanced pre op diet while all your appointments are being taken care of. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  14. My consultation was in September and I just finished all of my appointments except for my Upper GI exam which will be November 11th. My surgery date is December 5th! I am so excited!! Good luck with your last appointments! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. Chewing food doesn't affect the liver. Chewing food and the liquid diet after is so the your smaller stomach can handle it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. I got my surgery date for December 5th! I am so excited, I can't wait! So talking about preparing for pre op, they told me that I don't need to do a pre op liquid diet. Has anyone not had to do one? I see so many people talk about it. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. Thank you! I am on a pre op diet, which looks very similar to the "forever food stage". I also replace one meal a day with a premier Protein shake. I don't have to loose a certain amount but I have already started changing my lifestyle which will help me. I think when I got with in a week or so I will make sure I am really watching what I eat and incorporate my liquids! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeve or Bypass?

I choose Bypass because I need to lose 120+ it is what my surgeon and I decided on based off of my eating my eating habits and wanting to keep the weight off. You can most defiantly has success with both. I've seen it happen with both surgeries! I do agree that you need to talk to your surgeon not really the cardiologist. 25. For Bypass they leave it in. It still produces bile and when the food reaches the part of the small intestine where the stomach is attached it begins to help breakdown food. It stays in place because they do not count it away from the fat/tissue during surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
