  1. I had the sleeve in 2011.In 2015 I started having terrible acid reflux. Nothing helped.I had a a revision to bypass done Nov.22,2016.I'm glad I did.No more reflux, plus I protected my esophagus. If I didn't have the revision done might of eventually been eating from a feeding tube.

I learned that 30 to 40 % of people who have acid reflux before end up with a revision.

I too was scared to have bypass done the first time..Now I'm 5 weeks out and doing good.

  2. Coughing is a sign of acid reflux.I had the sleeve surgery in 2011.Last year I started coughing and having terrible reflux.I had to have a revision to bypass on Nov.22,2016.It has really helped.I went back to my weight loss Dr and he did upper GI and endoscope.I was turned downed at first because insurance thought it was about weight loss. Then sent my other Drs records for acid reflux and my Dr did a Peer to Peer.I say this only to warn people who had the lapband or sleeve that this can happen.Be Aware.

  3. I had bypass on Nov.22.The pain wasn't too bad and the pain meds controlled it.I was able to go to the bathroom with help at first.By the next day walking by myself .Walking is important because the gas pains will go away quicker. This is pain in your shoulders and back.Once I got home I did take stool softners first, then had to add miralax.I didn't need pain meds once I was home.I took off and on for a few days. After the first week I could add soft foods(Cottage cheese, Yogurt) Didn't have too many problems.

Has a lot to do with Protein intake and Fluid intake. It is slow at begining.Take small sipps all day.

  4. You lose hair because surgery and weight loss was a shock to your system. When I had my sleeve 2011 I thought I would be ok.Nope,I lost hair and it grew back in.Alarming when you see it and you panic.I had bypass 3 1/2 weeks ago they still said I could lose hair.I'm taking Hair,Skin and Nails supplements.Hope it helps but won't be surprised if I lose hair again.

  5. A year or so ago they came out with ProCare vitamins. It has every thing you need except the Calcium and extra iron.I had the sleeve in 2011 and it was hard to get everything in.My Dr recommended Vitron C.It is easier on your stomach and has Vitamin C in it.I used to have to take these 3 times a day.Now I take 2.I'm 3 1/2 weeks out from bypass so I guess my fist labs will tell me if I need to bump it up.

Hope they can get everyone Iron levels up.

  6. I was revised from sleeve to bypass due to acid reflux. The insurance initially denied me because they wanted to me to see dietitian. My Dr did a Peer to Peer with the insurance and told them this wasn't about weightloss it was about ending the acid reflux that was harming my esophagus Hiatal hernia repair failed too. My stomach was pushing upwards ,contributing to the reflux. The insurance approved it then.

I had my surgery on Nov.22,2016,My sleeve was in 2011.

Doing good. One more week soft foods, then I can have shaved turkey, ham, chicken and other foods.
