  1. @DJ's Nana @@TanishaP I just got my pre-adm testing appointment with instructions. Here's what it says..

What to expect during your PAT Appointment:

-- Your pre-admission testing appointment will last approx. 1.5 hours.

-- Please bring a detailed list of ALL medications or your medication

bottles that you currently take, including over-the-counter meds.

-- You will receive a comprehensive nursing assessment and pre-operative

    instructions.

-- Your visit may include a brief medical history, physical exam and

    anesthesia by a nurse practioner.

-- You will have any indicated blood tests, EKG and/or a Chest X-Ray.

-- To avoid excess testing, provide the PAT department with all results of

tests performed within the past month.

On the day of your pre-admission testing, please remember to:

-- Eat normally - no need to fast.

-- Take your usual medication(s), unless you have been instructed

    otherwise by your surgeon.

-- Bring all medications with you or a list of all the medications you

    take, including over-the-counter medications.

-- Bring your medical insurance card and license/photo ID with you.

-- Wear comfortable clothes, and refrain from using body lotions, oils or

powder that morning (deodorant is okay).

Thank you for sharing :) I do my pre-adm on the 29th. Fun fun.

  2. I don't want to be petite. I love my height. They just tell me that my goal of wearing my shirt tucked in with nice jeans and a cute belt will never happen. I will never be small enough to do that. I want to be able to do that. Throw on a pair of cowboy boots that I've never been able to fit into either. I've always been big. Always. Even as a 10 year old I look back at pictures and I was big. So ya my mind fears I never will. Right now I just want healthy. To be able to chase my grandson. To ride rides at the park with my teenage autistic son and to experience life outside and not hidden away.

  3. I'm so tired of friends and family telling me I'm large boned and will never be small. I really am hoping my body will show them different! I'm 5'9 started out at 327 current 303. Surgery set for the 3rd of October. Always hearing about how large boned you are and my height that I'll never be small sucks. It sticks with you. I don't want to be small small but a 14 would be awesome!

  4. I'm day 3 and feel sloshy. All this liquid ugh. But I'm powering through. :) hope it gets easier for you. I have a 20 0z Water bottle. Drink one after my Breakfast shake, one after lunch shake, and one after dinner shake. If I'm up early enough I'll do one before Breakfast too. That gives me 60-80oz of Water a day. I also add crystal light to my afternoon water. It helps.

  5. It's hard to decipher all the replies you have gotten I'm sure. So let me say one thing first. You have had several "Vets" reply and try helping you. You will also see a lot of replies that jump to conclusions and or from posters who are really new that honestly think they know all the answers. That's not a bad thing but there is a difference in information between not being sleeved yet, recently sleeved and years out sleeved. As well as different info from rny and bypass people. Everyone's body is different and will adjust their own way. My surgeon told me my sleeve won't stretch. However should I eat things I shouldn't and way too much of it my stomach will expand but it will contract back down. We have bunches of layers inside out tummy walls and that's what expands and contracts before and after you eat. If you eat a large meal and then eat a small meal it won't "stretch" however if you get to a point where you are only eating large bad meals it won't contract all text way back down because of the brain signals saying hey he/she is still hungry. And then you get the weight gain back. I was told (every surgeon and every persons body is different) not to drink for an hour before and an hour after my meals. I was to be finished with my meal in 15-20 minutes and if I still had food leftover to put it up and not pick at it. It's leaning to feel full not finishing what's on your plate. If you drink with your meal it will cause the food to slip through your sleeve making you think you are still hungry and washes away the good absorption that we need. You make feel hungrier sooner or sick with foamies, even vomiting. So what's the point in risking it when we all are using this "tool" to helps us get back to healthy. Just my 2 cents from a newb.

  6. Am I a newbie. Yes. I started my 2 week liquid diet today. Surgery on the 3rd. If I have questions or need advise I want to hear from vets. I like being told straight and not sugar coated. Sugar coated won't help me succeed! I know that everyone's body is different and outcomes are different. But I also know that I am doing this so I can live, live longer and healthier. So why in the world would I jeopardize a tool that I was thankfully Givin to eat the same way that put me where I am now. NO! I have to change me, my mindset and I have to be willing to do it. And I refuse to self sabotage my health and life for a piece of bacon, or cake, or whatever it may be when I know that ..."hmm just onepiece can't hurt or well I already screwed up and ate one so why not keep eating wrong all day I'll go back to what I should be eating tomorrow." Hello! No! New mindset. I'm stronger then this. I can do this. I'm worth it. I'm not going to throw away a gift and tool. So yes there are newbies who just don't care. But there are also plenty like me who needs our vets advice and Ideas. Just my 2 cents.

  7. Ya know I was asking myself your question and I had to stop myself. I kept asking ... what do I want to do if I lose my weight. I had to change it to... what am I going to do when I lose this weight.

My 17 year old will be 18 by that time and off to the Marines. My 16 year old will be a junior ( he's high functioning autistic). My 21 year old daughter just had a baby 3 months ago so she will have her hands full by next fall. I think I want to take my 16 year old to six flags or holiday world and ride every ride he wants to go on. Participate in the Water slides and big wave pool. I want to be able to stay as long as he wants and enjoy it. I also will be able to chase after my grandson and take him everywhere and do so many things that I couldn't do with my own children. I want to live!

  8. Anyone else have issues with how expensive those shakes are. He wants me to get the EAS advant edge carb control. 3shakes a day at 6 bux a 4 pack. X 2 weeks. Holy moly! I bought 4 4 packs that will get me through 5 days. Then I'll figure something out. Don't take me wrong, I have a 2 whole huge jugs of premier powder that I can use after surgery. But for the preop he only wants me to use that EAS rtd stuff.

  9. I have 3 kids. My daughter will be 21 this month, then I have two boys. 17 and 15. My youngest has autism. And it finally hit me that he will live with me for the rest of my life. So I damn well better make sure I am around for as long as I can be. Then I have a 3 month old grandson. I want to be able to run around after him and play with him without getting tired or being able to bend over like I couldn't with my own children. I can't change the past. But be sure I want to change my future. I need to be healthy not just for them, but because I have never know what that means. I have always had medical issues and struggled with my weight. So yes I would like to try and find the Real me down in there some where.

  10. I'm the same. I've been large my whole life including infancy. I just can't wrap my head around the image. My husband ( he is supportive) tells me I am large boned so I won't get small like most of the women on here. But I hold out hope for my nice pair of jeans with a nice belt and tucked in shirt looking fine as can be :) lame I know. But that's my goal.
