  1. I just wondered.... Anyone out there that is tired all the time. I eat Breakfast and do my meds, then weekdays I go for my 30min walk...once I'm done, I'm exhausted for the rest of the day. My bed time is 8p! When I have errands or soccer practice for my son...I'm so tired afterwards. Will this improve?? I read about everyone getting all this energy, when will I get some. I'm doing great on Protein, keeping fluids up and calories are where drs say...I just get tired so easily! Blah.

  2. You're being completely irrational and silly. I'm going to blame the hormone dump that happens early out with the rapid weight loss.

When have you lost 30 pounds in less than 2 months before? That's actually pretty amazing weight loss. More than I had lost at that point, that's for sure. I'm sorry you miss "food", but remember, these early stages are just temporary. It's not always going to be like this. I found the further along I got and the more I healed and advanced stages, the more I felt less like a "patient" and more like a normal person who just can't eat as much as everyone else.

Here's a chart showing the expected losses with the sleeve. You are exactly or even above where you need to be.

Manage your expectations about this surgery. It's not magic. Weight loss still takes time and patience. Trust me, you'll have a much happier experience if you just realize that.

Thanks for posting that...I've felt like I'm getting no where....but on that chart I am right in the middle....not a bad place to be. I feel better. Thank you.

  3. First of all congratulations. Feeling nutty? I feel nutty. I'm not sure I'm doing the right way. Before surgery 224 and today 204 next Tuesday will be 2 weeks. Not exercising but walking around the house. My belly is a little sore and I was having a hard time with the diet. Haven't being able to eat 60 grams of Protein. So decided to rely on the Protein Drink for and keep myself hydrated. That is my focus. When did you start to exercise you mean walking?

I'm on my 5th week and emotions are off the wall....lost 15pnds in first 2wks, but slowed right down. Doing everything right, but it's a slow loss. Watching hubby shrink. It's ok, he looks handsomer as he goes. I think I am slowly letting it go. He'll hit his goal first, but I'm gonna get there. Just not as fast. With all these body changes, how can I not be nutty!! I started walking my second week...walking 30min at least 5 days a week. It's good for someone who never left the couch!!

  4. MEN. :blink::angry::angry::angry: :D don't you love it?

my husband does not have a weight problem. if he ever needs to loose it is 5-10 pounds- do you know what he does? he eats LESS potato chips. seriously. he doesn't STOP eating them, he just doesn't eat the whole bag. :(

me? he better not put the bag between us because I will gain weight just being that close to them.

your feelings are normal, and understandable - but they will not help you. come here to vent if you need to and then bless him. a year from now I hope you're both just where you need to be. ;-)

I know how I am supposed to be. Supportive and happy for him...people ask oh how much have you two lost. I want to cry. I will focus on the good, look at the scale less and work on my self-esteem.... your post helped.

  5. I know it's not helping us. I apologize all the time. I tell him it's not about him. But sometimes it just bites.

You mentioned you are happy about his diabetes being better. How about focusing on things like that that you can be grateful for (for both of you)? Jealously will destroy you from the inside, but gratefulness will help you blossom from the inside out. Start with one thing and add to it daily.
    Great idea!!

  6. My hubby had a bypass a week ago...I am on week 5 of my sleeve. My hubby is just melting away. I'm exercising and eating exactly like I should, but he has lost more than me in a week. I know I should be happy for him. And I am so happy his diabetes has almost disappeared! But I feel like I am failing, as he just shrinks in front of my eyes. Trying to ignore those rotten feelings, but it's not easy.

  7. Fear...return to eating....

    Not liking myself afterwards

Floppy skin that looks like a flying squirrel

Not being able to do enough exercise, 30min a day and I'm dead...

My hubby got the bypass, he's loosing weight by the minute...I'm falling behind...so much for doing it together. He'll be skinny hubby and I'll stay fat wife. So many fears...but I have a counselor. She helps me, one step at a time.

  8. Hi... I've had tons of ups and downs and I am only just shy of wk4. I always went to food as my comfort, since I was a kid....it is really hard not having that coping skill. I'm learning though, I listen to music, audio books and reach out to friends and family when my downs are at their worse. You are learning and the pieces fall into place eventuality. I'm still working on it and I guess it's part of our journey. Good luck, you'll do great!

  9. Starting weight: 349

    Surgery weight: 326

    Current weight: 299

I'm 2days from wk 4. I am just about to move to soft foods...yay! New food tastes make life better. Does anyone worry they are loosing weight fast enough? Like I'm not doing it right. I follow the diet to a T, exercise 30min a day...I still feel tired a lot. I keep my Proteins up and liquids mostly up. Am I just worrying too much? Drs say I am doing fine, but I have a hard time believing it. My husband went through a gastric bypass just 4days ago, so I am taking care of him. His weight is dropping really fast, I try not to be jealous, we are doing this together, so we'll be there for our children and he had diabetes. Am I just overwhelmed, this whole journey is a rollercoaster of emotions? Does anyone else feel completely nutty?

  10. Hey everybody!

I'm 23 years old and from the GREAT state of Texas.

    Here are my stats.

    350- Highest weight May 2016

    342-Weight at consultation June 2016

336- 08/16/2016 pre op diet start

    309- Surgery date 8/23/16

    299- 8-31-2016 1 week post op.

I'm down 51 pounds from my highest weight and under 300 for the first time in about 4 years.

As far as surgery goes I had my surgery by Dr. Roberts in Dallas Tx. I had the VSG around noon and was moved into recovery for about 4 hours then sent home. The first week was a lot of gas pain but by day 5 it finally left! I haven't cheated on my diet one time and don't plan on it however I've noticed my surgeons guidelines are extreme compared to others

I won't be on puréed until my 4th week and regular food until my 8th week..

I am on my post op diet too. Mine is very strict...almost 4wks and am just getting into very soft foods. It's hard, but the dr is just making sure your insides heal well. Its hard though...I feel your frustration.
