  2. Beckn - WTG, 25# in 2 months, congratulations
  3. I had the endoscopy, but luckily nothing was found, I had severe acid reflux for 15+ years prior to surgery and now afterwards, no issues what so ever.. a great blessing.. now I drink regular coffee, no soda, and try so hard not to have water to drink with my meals.
  4. I, myself, have found that this thread with all the input form everyone has been a blessing. WE all need to be accountable for our actions and I find discussing or reveiling our issues is a benefit. Everyone is so helpful when we struggle and so encouraging and reassuring when it is needed. Thanks so much to all and U hope to be here a long time for support, to give support and just keep in touch. I have a ways to go to get to goal so I will be here ..
  5. HAPPY JULY 4th to all celebrate and be safe walked a ton yesterday in Atlantic city, a beautiful day.. my pedometer said that I burned off over 1100 calories. yikes Lisa we did good and watched ourselves at the buffet, only a few tastes of the desserts  rain this morning so no walking. maybe a bit later looking for some sunshine to enjoy the pool
  6. great time to go shopping. I was in K-Mart, and all summer stuff is at least 40% off. So my logic is find something that fits and looks good and enjoy...but the clothing budget is beginning to take a hit. But it feels fantastic to get into sizes and styles I haven't dreamt of in so many years HAPPY JULY 4th to all, be safe
  7. TheDailyPlate is my favorite for tracking food and exercise. I find that the allotment of calories burned tends to be a bit high, but make adjustments and try to compare to other sources. I really like the listing of foods and the exercise options list. So for me it is my helping hand for keeping track.
  8. woo hoo, congrats denise, want to hear all about the ne BF!!!!!!
  9. Getting an early start on the holiday weekend. A day in Atlantic City. Lisa and I will get our walking in there.... Then a peaceful few days at home.. Hope for another fill, #2 next Thursday, even if just a little "tweak" to help me out. There are time I just want to eat, but then sometime things seem to get stuck. Gotta remember to take smaller bites and chew, chew and chew again!!! ******Happy 4th of July to all ******
  10. Gaitlinburg is beautiful, went a few years ago in the Fall... Enjoy I amheading to Atlantic city for a day and then just relaxing for the 4th here at home Happy July 4th to all
  11. down another 2#, still rethinking the need for the fill next week, but will still keep appt, especially now that my PCP thinks I m,ay have a small hernia on my right side, go tomorrow for a CAT scan for that. and the bursitis in my left shoulder, I thought I was supposed to get healthier, now my body wants to fall apart LOL :cool2::thumbup:
  12. too fast eating a shrimp ceasar salad yesterday. put it aside and went back to it after about 15 minutes, and remembered CHEW, CHEW, Small Bites. THinnk I need to past a reminder in front of me when I eat. I know the discomfort is my fault for eating too fast and not thinking. Then had scrambld eggs for dinner and had no issues. This is an ongoing learning experience and loks like we all have our days of being reminde...but the TOOL is here to help us along...and well worth it
  13. not sure about my 2nd fill, but appt is scheduled for 7/10, so will see what the DR as to say! Think I need a little something but not a whole lot, but then Dr is the final decision maker.. find myslef eating slower and taking smller bites and feel that has been a big help in the feeling os something being stuck, just a reminder that I need to think as I eat
  14. I will admit that the short time I actually used the CPAP machine i diod have a more restful sleep. you are not waking up to catch your breath. After losing wiehgt hopefully it is a non issue and you will not longer need it. if it is recommended now after the sleep study
  15. I do wonder how one can get in their minimum protein amount with so few calories. The protein drinks are great early stages liquid, once mushies/soft are added your calories will increase. but do remember the protein. There are many people with hair loss issues due to low protein intake. My protein was increased at 3 months to 80-90 gms per day. my blood work showed level to be low. and I am very careful to get in my protein. so I now add an extra protein shake each day and that seems to boost that level. the first few weeks i was getting in a bit less than 900 calories, now I average 1100-1200 daily. znd xome days I do find that to be tough, but the biggest help I have found is to journal all my food. I use TheDailyPlate. It has a great resource of so many different brands, restaurant and exercises. just type in for your free membership and move forward....
  16. weighing every day or ever few days is depressing for me. I weigh on the scale at work once a week and then of course when I go for a fill or my PCP. I recored my weight the day before surgery on all 3 scales, so have my baseline, down. seems to be working for me.. I talkd with my DR about dropping my lipitor and avapro, for cholesterol and BP, but she said there are new studies out there that show other benfits of the medication for women. So she is only going to cut them back, but keep me on them. My cholesterol is great right now and my BP is holding strong at a great ##, Can't ask for any more.
  17. I do love the show and want to see how everyone is doing from this past season. I remember the episode where his daughter could not find anyone in Texas, I think that is where she was, that knew much about the band and she had to come home to NY. I really started ti investigate the procedure after seeing that show. welcome Roustabout, glad to have new blood. this is a great group and always full of support and will tell it like it is, good or bad.. do not take anything personal, we all want to help and support each other..
  18. Lisa, you know I ill bug you to get out there and go to the Y or go walking.. and me with my bum shoulder that is all i am good for right now, but some exercise is better than nothing
  19. you sound like you are on a good path, if they say you need the CPAP machine for apnea, they usually want you to be on it for at least a month. I lucked out and after 10 days they gave me clearance, but I already had a surgery date..so I guess I was lucky
  20. texgirl- i am losing about 2# per week, but not without a struggle. i am extremely careful of what i eat, and the make-up of it. my carbs i try to keep low, and watch my amount of exercise. i am overdue for a fill and will hope to get one on 7/10 exercise for me is limited this week, bursitus in my shlouder, so just walking and some leg machines at the Y
  21. who was your pulmonologist? I went to Dr Jones, then the NP, Mary Adams. my sleep study was done at American Sleep Medicine. I felt like i was checking into a hotel room, very private and if it could be relaxing.. i would suggest getting it scheduled ASAP as if you ned the apnea machine they will want you to get it and use it for a bit before they give you clearance... good luck
  22. as with everything your rate of weight loss will be different from others. I use the Daily Plate and log everything I eat. you can also figuer out the calorie intake based on your height and weight, I enter it to lose 3 # per week. and now am alloted just over 1100 calories per day. Of course logging my exercise also helps let me know how many calories I am burning each day. You can log the simplest activity and see how you are doing..
  23. all the appt are not just for the inasurance clearance, CHRIAS and PMRI have their own list of clearances before surgery, whether you are self pay or insurance is covering. All for the better I think, you know you have a clean bill of health in all those areas and also have an idea of how things will improve for you after surgery.
  24. welcome back, Harley. You definitely looked like you had a fun time.
  25. annie . it looks so natural, if i hadn't read the post from you first, I would not have known it was a wig. and it looks fantastic and i am sure you feel great wearing it ....
