  1. I'm about 8 weeks out now, I've been following my surgeon's and Nut's instructions and diet. Recently I have been feeling a little shaky and light headed in the mornings and my dad is diabetic and he thought it could be my sugar. He checked it for me and my sugar was 48. My dad said that was pretty low and I had some orange juice and felt better. I know I'm supposed to be watching my sugar intake but I had no issues with diabetes and sugar levels before surgery. Anyone else start having these types of issues post surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I'm down 130 lbs!

Thanks every one!!! I can't believe I've dropped so much so fast. I kinda felt like I wasn't loosing so I didn't weigh myself at all this month. And I was just so surprised by how much was lost. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. The only thing I changed before surgery was i quit caffine about 3 weeks before. I kinda just winged everything else. I followed my two week pre op diet and that was hell. Post op was so much easier when you don't feel hunger. then the only thing you have to worry about is mental cravings and habits. But within the first few weeks you sort of get used to not eating and small meals.
  4. I'm on the heavier side, but the first 3 weeks i lost 10+ every week. then i dropped down to about 6 pounds and now i'm averaging about 3-4 pounds a week. Which is normal. Stay on track with your diet. Talk to your nut. Plus every week is different, loosing 8 lbs one week and then 2 lbs the next is very normal. I mean I could hardly get 300 calories a day when I was on my liquid diet, now I'm up to about 1000-1200 cal at 2 months post op. The important thing is to get your Protein in. Good Luck and Congrats on the weight loss. 3 pounds is still something to be pround of !!

    Day 1-7

Congrats! When i was 1-2 weeks post op I felt like warm liquids were so much easier to get down then cold ones. Water would make me feel gross. I drank a lot of broth and decafe tea.

    Pcos

I picked the sleeve, but it had nothing to really do with my PCOS. I choose it because i felt it had fewer complications and and a lesser chance of dumping. My doctor said most people are choosing the sleeve now a days for the same reasons. I would get my period every 3 months and now that i lost some weight it's back to every 28-30 days. My cramps are just as bad as they used to be, and my skin does not break out as badly as it has in the past. hair is still an issue and I've heard it's the only thing that doesn't get better as the weight drops. overall I'm very happy with my decision to go with the Sleeve, but it's a personal choice for everyone. I would just lookup both the surgeries and see which one fits you best. Good luck!

    Cutting my hair

I'm two months post op from the sleeve and I made the decision to cut off about 8 inches of hair just because i wanted a change. Everything else was different, loosing weight, changing my eating habits, i wanted to do something else. I love my new hair. If your hair falls out or not, I think it's a good idea. Definietly helped me see myself as a different person then I was 4 months ago.
  8. I had a 2 week pre op diet but it wasn't full liquid. I could still eat chicken and other foods. but I lost ten pounds within those 2 weeks. My doctor also did not require me to loose a specific amount pre surgery. As long as I followed the diet, he said it didn't matter if I lost a specific amount. But he did say the liver doesn't lie and if he started my surgery and liver was too fatty he would just close me back up and make me go on a full liquid 2 month diet before he would let me have surgery again.

    Just starting process

They will go over everything with you during orentation and trust me 6 months will go by quickly! Make sure to ask any questions you have too don't be afraid to ask the doctor anything. Good luck.
  10. The first 5 weeks were pretty tough not chewing. My mouth and teeth never felt clean. I needed up brushing my teeth about 4 times a day and still would have a bad taste in my mouth. It stopped as soon as I started chewing and eating foods again. I'm about 8 weeks out now and I don't have any food restrictions from a healing aspect. But as far as cravings I've had, which is mexican food and pickles, are my two biggest ones. I modified my craving into something healthier or able for me to eat. Added some taco seasoning to ground turkey. I have eaten pickles since I got the okay for raw veggies and It was great. haha. Some people say gum helps, but it just made me feel sick when I tired it.
  11. sugar free jello and sugar free water ice too.
  12. The first time I went out with my family post surgery was awful. I felt so bad afterwards because I was very cranky. Now I'm almost 8 weeks post op so its a lot easier to find something I can eat out.
  13. If you don't think you can handle it then you should try to avoid it. My sister's birthday was two days before my surgery and my family forced me to go out with them to celebrate. It really sucked watching everyone eating all this food I couldn't have and made me question if I was really ready for this type of surgery and commitment. Good luck!!!

    Salad

I was told never to eat iceburg lettuce since it's basically just Water. Stick with spinach salads but I have to wait like 4 months before I can eat raw veggies so no salads until then. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. I just had my gallbladder removed 4 weeks post surgery. I just thought I was having really bad vomiting post surgery, meanwhile my gallbladder needed to come out, feel 100% better now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Period question ?

Mine lasted about 14 days. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Again, I'd just call on Monday and make an appt with your doctor, if you start to feel weak or light headed go to the hospital. Just keep your fluids up. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Period question ?

I had the same problem, my obgyn said it can happen after surgery, because of the Heprin. I would cal Monday anyways. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I would still get the sleeve, I've heard some horror stories and actually witnessed one with my uncle. The sleeve just seemed overall safer. I've dropped about 36 pounds in 3 weeks. After this healing period is over I'll be fine. Just trying to get through it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. My grandmother passed away this morning. If this was 4 weeks ago I would be half way through my kitchen. I come from a huge Italian family, we eat, when we're happy and celebrating or were sad and mourning. It's so hard right now. She was so happy I got the surgery, so proud of me, just trying to keep up with the plan. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. My acid reflux was super mild before surgery, maybe once or twice a month. Let me tell you it's been an every day occurrence now. I didn't even know it would be an issue until now. My doctor never recommended the bypass instead. I don't regret my decision at all, but it is super annoying to feel crappy right now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I'm actually have some really bad post op nausea and I've been proscribed some pill that doesn't work, but smoking marijuana is the only thing that takes it away. No other side effects from it. No munchies or anything like that. I'm 2 weeks post op. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. I got my period two days before hand. They told me to keep my own underwear on during surgery and that was it. No issues at all. Although my period lasted like double than normal. About 9 days. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. My doctor only said to stay away from beans because of gas, he said other wise they are fine blended up. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
