  1. Good for you. Did you ever get nauseous or sick in the beginning??

Yes, constantly. I also had a complication with my gallbladder. I had it removed exactly 4 weeks after my sleeve surgery. After that I was drinking and had little to no sick feeling. I also realized most of my nauseousness was actually acid reflux. It's gotten a lot better. After about 3 months post op I had no issues.

  2. So what is the advantage of a Protein bar over eating, say, 2 oz of cheese? The kind I have is 16 grams of Protein for 2 oz at 160 calories and no sugar or carbs.

Personally I can't eat cheese, it's too hard on my stomach. I'm also not tracking calories or sugars at this point of the game. I still don't eat enough to make it to even 1,000 cals a day four+ months out.

  3. I am 390 right now and getting sleeved March 7th. I'm scared that my expectations of losing a lot of weight in a short time frae is unrealistic. This gives me hope. I want to be off my insulin and oral meds ASAP. That's amazing. What have you done to lose that amount in 4 months? Any tips would be awesome

Honestly, I was really worried about that also, but it just melted off at first. I didn't weight myself for a month cause I was so afraid that I wasn't loosing and then I did and I was 50lbs down in a month and was like holy crap. My weight loss is slowing now as I'm starting to eat more of what I should be eating, I'm finally able to get my Protein in, mainly because my hair loss is starting to get worse than it was before with just PCOS.

I was lucky enough to make it to 445 lbs with out any other medical issues besides PCOS which I had at 13 and 115 lbs. I quit all sugar before surgery and the first 2 weeks post op. I actually had to add it back into my diet because my sugar levels were boarder line hypoglycemic. I've heard within the first month people going off insulin. Good luck with your surgery!!!

  4. post-299244-14858777852535_thumb.jpg

My highest weight was 445 in January 2016, my surgery date was 09/20/16 and my weight was 407 day of surgery. As of today, 01/31/17, 133 days since surgery I have lost 151 lbs.

I never thought "what I had lost" would surpass "what I needed to loose" so quickly. Only 149 lbs to goal. It seems so much more possible now.

I take it one day at a time, one meal, one choice. I don't think about what I need to do tomorrow or that I need to loose "x" amount of weight by "y" date. I'm just thankful I'm alive and I'm moving forward.

  5. I just decided to give it up completely for 6 weeks. Now I'll drink half decafe/half regular if I'm feeling tired, maybe once a week. You don't miss it as much as you would think you would. I did have horrible headaches the first two weeks i went without. I would suggest quitting at least 2 weeks before surgery, you don't want headaches from caffeine withdrawal as your healing from surgery.

  6. I recently lost my insurance and have not been able to return for my two month visit or any one since. I am currently 4 months post op. My new insurance kicks in next week. but my surgeon doesn't take my new insurance. Should I just call my surgeon's office and see what they say I should do? I know worse case, I can have any tests needed done with my Primary care doctor and have them sent to my surgeon.

    thanks!!

  7. I had a two week pre op diet, I could still eat food on it, just smaller meals from a list my doctor gave me, I only lost 5 lbs on it and I was 407lbs day of surgery, now I'm 315lbs, four months out. Even if you don't loose a lot of weight from the pre op diet your liver should still shrink enough for surgery to be successful. Good luck!!!

Side note; I had already lost about 30 lbs while I was waiting the 6 months for surgery.

  8. Congrats I'm happy for you. Im still waiting to see my results any suggestions?

I knew I was loosing weight by the scale but I really didn't realize how much it really looked like until I put these two photos together. It made me really feel like all this crap I went through and the hard work was worth it. I stopped getting on the scale every day and it honestly helped me stop thinking about how much weight I was loosing and made it more about making better decisions. I'm going to stick with monthly weigh ins so I'm not so preoccupied with the numbers.
