  1. I was going to go with the sleeve but after speaking with my surgeon I am getting RNY. There were a couple of things I didnt know about the sleeve. Like with the sleeve they also have to cut the stomach away from other organs like the spleen. So there is an added risk they can puncture and have to remove other things. Also as far as staples go, even though the surgery for RNY is more involved the stitches/staples are only about the quarter of the amount that are used for the sleeve. So the sleeve has a much higher risk of leaking or other complications from the staple line.

I also wanted to be held accountable. I was leaning to the sleeve because I wanted to be able to eat with my kids from time to time. I wanted to enjoy the bad things with moderation. Then I took a step back and thought if I was already thinking like this before surgery I was setting myself up to fail. Because I have the insurance I do, there wont be a revision option for me. I HAVE to make this work the first time. So for me its go big or go home :D

    Good luck to everyone!

My goodness.. They're already scheduling first week of July?! My test review appointment is on April 24th. So I can only imagine what my surgery date would be.. probably september.. that's a long time from now. 😩

Im sure it won't be that bad for you. Right now they are working with one surgeon. The new one starts in June. Im thinking that if they had 2 surgeons right now my surgery wouldnt be that far out.

  3. I have my last appointment with the surgeon and the NUT at the hospital March 16. This is when they tell be about preop and after surgery. Its an all day thing surgeon at 9am then the class at 1. Then we will submit from there. I only have about 80 to lose now with all the weight management and I was thinking sleeve, but with all this talk about wishing they got the RYN Im a bit scared to choose the wrong thing.

  4. On the 21st all be all finished with my appointments. Just the social worker for the surgeon left. Then I hope I can schedule with the surgeon and submit to insurance. I'm getting closer and getting a bit more scared that I will go through all this for nothing. I hate that they can deny in the second stage too. But Ill be happy not to have a butt ton of appointments to go to every week!

  5. I have Molina but I would suggest calling your insurance and ask what they require. With molina pcos wouldnt be a comorbidity. Your insurance may be different. Molina requires BMI of 35 and above and 2 Comorbiditys or BMI of 40 with one. ( although the one depends on who you ask). Do your research. I went online and got the stage 2 paper work for Molina bariatric surgery and printed it out. I took it too my docs so they had it and knew what was needed. I got tired of waiting on everyone else. The only hospital that can do the surgery for this side of the mnt and medicaid is UW. So make sure you look into that as well.

Take everything you find to your doc and tell them " This is what my insurance wants for WLS. I have this this and this. I qualify. Please fill this out and submit it."

    Good luck!

  6. Just got approved for stage 2 yesterday! So now I gotta start the 12, 12 12. 12 Nut, 12 PT, and 12 Psych. Sill though even though I've been approved I need to get Pre-Auth for the Nut and PT. But I guess I can see whoever I like for the Psych as long as they take my insurance. I have to lose about 12 pounds for my 5% and have already started. Gotta make sure to eat breakfasts and nothing after 7. Ill start there and see how much I lose. Wanna make sure I can maintain it for 3rd stage. So keeping right on track if everything goes right I should be looking about March April. Maybe sooner.

I'm also starting college in a couple days! Im scared! I havent been to school since I graduated high school in 1999!
