  1. I had this too! Both my hair and skin were super greasy starting the day after the surgery. Literally I would wash my hair in the morning and by 4pm it looked like it hadn't been washed in a week. Also I had mildly dry skin going into surgery due to recent weather change but all of of a sudden my skin was oily. The first week was the worst and now I am a little over 4 weeks post surgery and it is almost gone - no dry skin - but hair and skin seem to have normalized. I mentioned to my surgeon at my 1 week post op and she was not concerned - basically saying your body is releasing fat cells through your pores - it will balance out. The first couple weeks I used Nutragena Shampoo to really strip the excess oils out daily - now I only use once a week

  2. I had my surgery Monday 10/17. They ended up also doing a hiatel hernia repair at the same time. The worst symptom was probably the pain in left shoulder and neck which they say is very common but their pain meds in hospital took care of it. Gas Pains started later that night but again were manageable and walking helps so much. I was home 24 hours later and honestly I feel pretty good. I too read all the horror stories as I prepared for this surgery. I had also had never had general anesthesia and was terrified I would;t even wake up from the surgery. Then I had nervousness about blood clots - you name it I was stressing about it. The surgery was a breeze. The pain was manageable - it is now 36 hours post op and am not even needing to take the pain meds they sent me home with. Still have some trapped gas but the more I move the better it gets. I still feel bloated and a bit sore but honestly I also feel great - energized and ready to start this new life :) Best of luck to you. Try not to stress too much about the what ifs

  3. So I had my pre-op appt yesterday. 10 more days until surgery - I am beyond excited. Starting Monday I will be on a full liquid with salad for dinner until the day before when it is Clear Liquids only and doing the magnesium citrate flush.

I can't believe how far I have come mentally. I WAS TERRIFIED of anesthesia - I have never been "put under" except once as a child for a dental extraction and that didn't go well so despite having previous surgeries ( 3 c-sections I was awake for) My fear was a huge reason I put off exploring WLS for almost 4 years since my PCP first suggested. the past two months I have come to terms with it and decided I am more afraid of not living my life to the fullest and thus I need to have this surgery.

I am so excited to be on the losers bench!!! Wishing you all the best!

  4. I feel your pain....After 6 month of classes I am ready! I have my insurance approval (took about a week and 1/2 after I finished my last required class) and now I get to have my 1-1 with the surgeon which I just scheduled for 9/16. Getting so anxious for surgery to be done already...

I have never been put under for surgery and actually have been "afraid" of being put under (though I did have 3 c-sections so I have had surgery before)....I am finally at a place where I am more excited than nervous and the waiting is hard...but it will all be worth it :)
