    December 2016?

I had my sleeve yesterday, along with hiatal hernia repair. Going home this afternoon. I have..NO...pain from surgery. What I do have is a back full of arthritis that was killing me immeriatly after surgery (probably from lying flat which I can't normally do) so I have spent my hosputal time in the reclinder instead. Much better. Just taking Tylenol because my doctor insists. No nausea yet. No anything, really. Sent from my SM-G928P using the BariatricPal App

I need a MUCH better fig leaf!

As a woman, I don't wear my best lingerie every day, because its not the most comfortable. I save the sexy stuff for the times I need it and wear what is most comfortable the rest od the time. Sent from my SM-G928P using the BariatricPal App

I need a MUCH better fig leaf!

Not sure how to sayy this, but a couple of my boys (I have 9 boys) also needed better fig leaves! Containing everything was a challenge. I found for them tighty whities work best in the containment department. Boxer I briefs work well for them too. Sent from my SM-G928P using the BariatricPal App
  4. On my first consult, my BMI was 40. On my first nutritional visit, I stayed at my BMI of 40. Now, I just had my 5 month nutritional visit, (only 1 month to go), it's now at 36.9 and I have sleep apnea. I've lost 25 lbs. So, it's best you not lose alot of weight during the process or you'll need to gain some back or you won't be eligible for surgery if you're using insurance. This is not accurate. I was BMI 36 at first consult. I could not gain, but could not lose UNTIL my comorbidity sleep apnea was diagnosed (at month 2) and then I could lose. Dr. Said I could lose 50 lbs it wouldn't matter, I would still qualify. This could be insurance dependent. I am with BCBS. My surgery is tomorrow, and BMI is 32. 5. Only a couple more days, surgery on the 5th. I can do this!!! I'm only down 9 lbs. Blah! But I am one who just barely qualifies for surgery and my surgeon expected I would lose about 10 on the liquid diet. But Oh.My.God I am STARVING!! Thankfully I am very busy today and tomorrow so can mostly stay out of the kitchen. I am hosting a monthly coffee get together at my home tomorrow and none of the people coming know I'm having surgery. They will be brining holiday treats. I may have to sneak off for an extra shake. 6. If you are in a hotel get on thier treadmill! Try to walk 5 min several times per day. Sent from my SM-G928P using the BariatricPal App
  7. Oh man! I had cancer 3 years ago (followed by 14 surgeries) hysterectomy 2 years ago. So with chemo, then hysterectony, I got to do menopause TWICE! YAY me! NOT looking forward to dealing with mood swings again. But I have to ask...since there is an estrogen dump from the fat stores, is there also a short-term increase in sex drive to go with it? Cuz I've had exactly ZERO since my hysterectomy! Sent from my SM-G928P using the BariatricPal App
  8. My surgery is in 2 days and I just noticed that pain for the first time today. Sent from my SM-G928P using the BariatricPal App
  9. Why a whole month on the diet? I think anyone would be irritable. I am a bit. Day 11 for me. Surgery in 2 days. Sent from my SM-G928P using the BariatricPal App
  10. Nothing will shrink your skin. I had a tummy tuck 8 years ago. Best thing ever!!! Sent from my SM-G928P using the BariatricPal App
  11. I'm curious if your husband is overweight? My husband is very supportive of me, but a bit worried about me being in better shape when he is not. He admits this is his own issue with insecurity, not a true fear that I will leave him for someine thin. Sent from my SM-G928P using the BariatricPal App
  12. My last weigh-in I was 112. I am day 5 of my pre-op diet and I was 105 this morning. Hoping to hit 200 by my surgery date on Dec 7th. It doesn't really matter what you weight, but what your BMI is. Everyone says to me, "What? There is no way you're that heavy!" But the scale does not lie. As my surgeon said, "Its not my job to judge if you look good at your current weight or not. If you meet the BMI and co-morbidity requirements, then you qualify. Period."
  13. I hate to tell my numbers because too many people do not understand. I will share them with you (and obviously anyone who reads this). My surgery was last Monday. My starting weight was 190, my pre-surgery weight (after 2 week liquid diet to shrink liver) was 180. I have not weighed myself since Friday, at that time I was 178. I know the numbers seem low, but I am only 4'10". The less weight you have to lose, the slower it comes off. According to some charts, it will take me 18 months to get to my goal weight. The decision is hard, don't let anyone else make it for you. Good luck! Sent from my SM-T817V using the BariatricPal App I get it! My daughter is 4ft 8 at 20 years old. She weighs 122 right now, which is a lot for her tiny frame. Her ideal weight is about 100-105. Just 15 lbs makes a dramatic difference when you of very short stature.
  14. I have narcolepsy, and also OSA and use Apap. My OSA seems to be under control, but I'm still wiped out. Once you get off caffeine completely, and a few weeks out, you'll be more wakeful without it than you are hooked on it. When you're hooked on caffeine you get tired when you don't have it. When you get off it, and your body is no longer craving it, you'll feel much better. Provigil, though a stimulant, works differently than other stimulants. It may not be the right medication for you.

    3 DAYS!

My surgery is on the 7th and I can hardly wait. The liquid diet is getting easier. Today is day 4 and what did I do? We are stuck in a hotel for a week with 6 kids, 2 dogs and a cat while some work is being done on our house. Took the kids out to dinner, ordered a meal for myself and started eating!!!!! I completely forgot I couldn't eat!!!! I only had a few bites before I realized it, but I was totally shocked!!! How the heck???? Anyway, I have to adjust my ticker because I'm down 6 lbs since Friday.

    Dates here!

    Dec 7th for me!
  17. Yes, I had mine in 2009. My Surgeon says it can make things slightly more difficult, if there are adhesions or anything. In 2014 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I have had 14 reconstruction surgeries. (getting new boobs is NOT a benefit of breast cancer!!) I have had to have lots of procedures to release scar tissue in my chest and arms because I have cording. Then in Feb 2 years ago i had my ovaries removed via my new belly button. Not only did they wreck my new belly button, but I have a big hernia there now too. My sleeve surgeon said I can come back 6 months after sleeve and he'll fix the hernia.

  20. Thanks for posting this question! I'm scheduled for Dec 7th. Going to check out the patches now!
  21. My surgery is in Minnesota. I can't wait for this two week diet to be behind me!
  22. Do all of you have a date? Journeyjen did you have your surgery already? I'm scheduled for Dec 7th and started my pre-op diet today. Already have a headache. blaaaaaah
  23. December 7th for me. Started my diet today. UGH!!!!!
  24. I'm right there with you. Scheduled for the 7th and started my diet today. Todays is extremely emotionally stressful for me for personal reasons. I almost forgot I was on the diet today. LOL I drove to the hospital to visit my son thinking "Oh man, i'm so hungry! Oh there's a Burger King next to the hospital, I'll swing in and get a burger." So glad I remembered to throw a couple shakes in my purse before I left. Its going to be a long couple of weeks, but we'll get though it, just as those before us have, right?
  25. Oh believe me, I get it! I'm a breast cancer survivor, diagnosed March 2014. I had 14 major surgeries in 18 mo. Bilateral mastectomy is brutal. My last reconstructive surgery was in December. I actually think all of that made my decision for this surgery a bit easier to make. "surgery" and "anesthesia" are nothing to me, and post-op pain, recovering from anesthesia, is now something I'm used to. I know what pain meds work for me and what don't. Your story and mine are similar. I'm also 5'4, and my current weight is 209. Pre-cancer was 175. Have you had your joints checked for arthritis? I injured my foot last spring and discovered my feet are full of chemo-induced arthritis. Since then I've found my back, my hands, even my JAW are full of arthritis!! By the end of the day my body hurts so bad. Last night my feet were the worst. But, it is what it is. I know I can't move enough to get rid of this weight with just exercise. My cancer was estrogen-fed, with a very high risk of recurrence. I need to get rid of all sources of estrogen including fat that produces a small amount of estrogen. So here I am!!! After 7 months of meeting all the insurance requirements, I will see the doctor next week to schedule my surgery date. Hoping for the first week of December!
