  1. Girl-your body went through a traumatic experience! Cut it some slack....it's totally normal to have a slow month, the first month. My doc and nut told me that the first month should focus only on healing and getting Back to normal and not to even expect any weight loss. Guess what? Some people don't lose in the first month! Rest assured, if you are following your plan, you WILL lose. I too had these concerns and a wise man told me "when you reach your goal, will it matter than it took you one month longer?" The answer to that is no. Keep doing what your doing and be patient. Let your body heal, get as much Protein, Water and activity as you possible can and PREPARE TO BE SKINNY Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hair loss prevention

You can try whatever you like but it will be a waste of money. The reason for hair loss is the trauma your body goes through and lack of Vitamin and nutrition. If it is going to happen, it is unstoppable..Keep in mind that some people don't ever lose hair. Let's hope you are one of the lucky few. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. lol I know!! I was shocked when I seen the difference. Im happy to finally look like a 38 year old woman and not a 48 year old one! Thanks for the compliments. I can't wait to compare pics again in a few months! Someone asked me "did you realize you were that big or were you surprised to see the picture" my answer was "HELL NO OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN WEARING A DAMN POTATO SACK!" To me, the mirror didn't show me that back fat and those mega handles I had on my backside and I certainly didn't know that my behind looked like a table! This picture is what set me on the path to get surgery. I was so disgusted with myself. I was a skinny one all my life until my dad passed 5 years ago. By skinny I mean under 150. I thought I was cow at 150. Most of my years I spent at 120 but when I hit 30years old I gained a few. Then when my dad passed I slipped into a food fueled depression like you wouldn't believe. 7. Ahh my label (that I looked up) says 0 of each. I'll have a cup maybe once a week. I'm not a huge coffee fan but when the boss offers to buy Starbucks, I oblige. He decides to be nice maybe once a week. Never more lol. I'm not arguing by any means. I believe you. I know how they play with the labels. Only reason I started to order that particular drink is because I was looking online for a Bariatric friendly Starbucks drink and kept coming across the same one. Half and half has more carbs than heavy cream. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Help me please

My surgeon said that he has closed 2 patients back up on the table without preforming the surgery because he could tell they didn't follow his surgical guidelines. He said that he is not going to get hit with a malpractice suite because he damages her liver in the process since she didn't follow the directions to prepare her body for the procedure. This is serious. You have to follow that diet, or be prepared for the surgery to be cancelled. It's important. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. What are your stats. We are about the same in post op time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Hot coffee with an espresso shot, 4 shots of sugar free mocha and heavy cream. (Heavy cream is the only cream with no sugar and less than one carb and makes the drink so delish and creamy) I get a venti and drink half of it, save the other in the fridge for an iced coffee later. Ps. I'm allowed caffeine. Only drink restriction I have is carbonation. Ps again. If you decide after reading that this sounds amazing and want to order it, make sure to say "heavy whipping cream" or they will mistake your request for a heavy shot of half and half which DOES have carbs and sugar! It isn't really whipped cream, it's a liquid cream. They call it heavy whipping cream because when you add sugar to it and whip it with a mixer, it turns to whipped cream. 14. It took me longer than I thought but I couldn't be more excited!! 2 months and 3 weeks post op and I've hit the ONEderland! Yayayayayya! Sorry just felt the need to shout it from the roof top. I've met many mini goals in the past couple months but this was my first large goal. Actually 3 large goals in one day! 50lbs down, 50 to go. I'm halfway to my ultimate goal and first time below 200 for about 5 years Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Stall

You are not failing. Your body has just gone through a traumatizing event. Give it time to regulate itself. Some people lose a whole bunch of weight at first and then slack off. Some people lose next to none the first month or so and once their body adjusts, the pounds start to fall off. If you are following your plan, there is no chance this surgery will fail. If you are not following doctors orders and cheating, it could fail. Your results depend on you. Look at it this way, you lost 19 lbs in 6 weeks. Could you do that before surgery? If the answer is no, then the surgery is working. Hang in there. We have all felt like this a time or two during our journey. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Ok so aside from jumping up and down, what do I do when I reach my goal weight? My body isn't gong to know that is my goal and automatically stop losing weight. I am 22 pounds from goal (was sleeved aug. 25,2016) and the closer I've gotten to my goal, the more lax I have gotten on my very strict diet. Still no sugar at all and very few carbs but just let up a little. However, the weight loss hasn't slowed down. In fact, I usually have a 2 week stall each month but I haven't stalled this month or last. How will I keep myself from getting too thin? What are some changes you've made after reaching your goal weight? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  18. That's cute. I'm going to start calling my slip ups snow days. "Man, I had a really bad snow day today". LOL. Ha ha ha!! New Year's Eve was a bad snow day for me. Luckily, I woke up New Year's Day, kicked myself in the ass after stepping on the scale and let that minor setback be my driving force. Thank goodness for the "honey moon stage" that made it easy to snap back. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. @@gustavio Well, and just to give you an idea how fast things can go south: I was towing the line really well around Christmas. Like staying the same weight within literally a half pound. I was so proud of myself! Then winter hit here in Boise. We got more snow in the last couple of weeks than we've gotten in literally 2 winters. @@jenn1 can vouch. We were trapped in our neighborhoods, people couldn't get to work, school was closed for 6 days, and we were shoveling snow every couple of hours for a week straight. I was having to forgo the gym to take my son to work because his sedan couldn't get out of his subdivision for a week. Every time I would get enough gumption to go to the gym, I'd decided to not go because the roads were so treacherous. I figured shoveling snow would suffice. Between not going to the gym for almost 2 weeks, and a little comfort and frustration eating, I am up 3 pounds as of this morning. Just like that. The good news is I think there's a break in the weather, and I actually made my ass go to the gym today and I feel better But it will take me a month to get this off. Honestly. Life happens, but we have to learn to adapt and roll with the punches without it totally derailing our progress. This is the hardest part of the whole thing. Ahh that's sounds frustrating!! I'm sure I'll have "slip ups" and snow days of my own. Not planning on them of course but, who does. I'd say being snowed in is a pretty good excuse for your minor set back. At least you have the dedication and drive to get back to the gym and work it off.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. Thanks everyone for the great advice! When I heard that this was going to be a lifestyle change forever, I sure thought that once I reached my goal, I'd be fine to do what I wanted and go back to normal. I think many people have that misconception. Another misconception is that surgery is the easy way out. HAHAHAHAHA!!! this has been one of the most challenging times of my life! But oh so worth it. I will never go back to the way I use to eat and do what I did to my body. I am not a judgmental person by far but I find myself being disgusted when I see coworkers eat their 1500+ calorie fast food meal. The best thing this journey and this site has done is educate me on how much food affects your health and quality of life. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hair loss

My hair loss has been so so bad. I'd say the only con to the many many pros of this surgery. I had thick, luxurious, waist length long hair. It's now thin and brittle. I'm nearing my 5 months and it started at 2 months so I'm hoping it stops soon. It comes out by the handfuls. With all that said, I wouldn't change my mind about the surgery. I'm still so glad I done it Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

You know you lost weight when

When you no longer avoid the camera When you can wear jeans all day and not be dying to change to stretchy pants When your friends and family tell you that you need a cheeseburger When your kids can wrap their arms all the way around you. When you and your spouse can both sit comfortably side by side in a recliner. When you can buy fitted shirts and not feel insecure When you can wear shorts again When people mistake your teenagers for your friends or siblings When you can cross your legs When you can sit Indian style When you can sit on the floor, and then get back up again When you can shave your legs or tie your shoes without holding your breath Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    eating too much

What was your starting weight? Your current weight? You can do this. You slipped a bit but ya gotta pick yourself up, dust yourself off and do this thing. As dub said, people are flooding the gym working their asses off to lose weight. Many will be unsuccessful and some successful. Most of them weren't lucky enough to have this extra tool given to them. Take advantage of the tool you were given. Good luck to you. If you lost 70lbs in 6 months, you can def do this.
