  1. Hi, first let me say congratulations on your weight loss and sorry your having absorption issues. I have not had my surgery yet but was curious about something and maybe you can help me answer this question. I am 5’6 with my CW at 228 and figured my excess weight loss is 75lbs which should take me to 153. What should be you GW if you do not mind me asking! Thanks

    Hello
I have not had the surgery to lengthen my intestines for better absorption. I am currently 132 pounds and my bariatric doctor wants me at 154 pounds.

  2. Hello everyone,

I had mgb on October 6, 2016 and I have lost a significant amount of weight. I have had some complications and its been a rough year. My highest weight was 249 pounds and I am currently 123 pounds and my height is 5'7 1/2. Subsequently,I started out with a lower BMI than most people getting weight loss surgery.

Has anyone had to have surgery to make their intestines longer to ascertain better absorption ? I am getting the surgery in two weeks and wanted to see if anyone else has had this experience.

  3. Hi a surgeon gave me meds for pain and it helps a lot besides not eating foods that irritate my gall bladder my surgeon is removing mine on July 19 when I have my Gastric Bypass Surgery done I hope you feel better soon blessings. Angela

When they did my mgb I had a tumor removed a hernia repaired and three days later rushed back into surgery with a bleeding ulcer. Then on January 31st I diagnosed with DVT and bialateral pulmonary embolism. My initial mgb surgery was October 9th. It has been a tremendously rough 9 months.

  4. Gallbladder pain is so rough. Obviously eat nothing with fat is my only advice. I did drink real lemonade (artificially sweetened) it seemed to help. Why are they waiting so long if it only takes 72 hrs for the Coumadin to be out of your system? I'm confused.
I wish they would just take the gallbladder when they do the surgery. I hope you get some relief.

Unfortunately my coumadin level did not go down enough in 72 hours and it was still too high. So they put the drainage in and my sugery date is July 20th. I have been in and out the hospital twice already so the pain has truly been unbearable. The doctor gave me a strong pain medicine and I have been able to rest at home. Needless to say I have reached my goal weight and some I am currently 130 pounds down starting from 242. I hope everything works out for you.

  5. I have had a rough 9 months after the mgb surgery. DVT bilateral pulmonary embolism and now going for surgery on July 20th to remove my gallbladder. I try to keep my day with positivity and some days I succeed and some days I don't. I am happy I had the mgb because I know their is a light at the end of this tunnel. I have lost 122 pounds and reached my goal weight.

  6. I am having my gallbladder removed due to gallstones on July 20th. The doctors could not get my coumadin levels down in a 72 hour window so they put in a drainage for three weeks for the inflammation and infection. I was also put on a regimen of antiobiotics. It has been a tremendously difficult and a painful time. Anyone have any advice or had their gallbladder removed ? The pain is excruciating and I am currently on oxycodone and bed rest. Counting the days down to July 20th.
