This post made me laugh out loud in parts, so thanks for that!
I also have all those emotions about going through with RNY, but when I do I consider that there is a reason that I am considering this in the first place: because I can't do it alone! My list of prior attempts is similar to yours, and I definitely feel like I gave them my all while I was attempting them, and it took me a while to come to the conclusion that extra help was needed....
My wife and I are also going on this path together, and we both have been"large and in charge" since we first met. We don't know when our surgeries would be, but also are going to space them out in order to make sure one of us is in parental shape (we have a busy almost 3 year old at home).
Good luck on your journey! I will be following along and rooting for you through these interwebs. Save a seat on the losers bench for me....

    Hello!!
I had surgery 15 days ago and all is good. The surgery was (thankfully) uneventful. I was released the next day and felt very little pain. I started driving 8 days after surgery and I haven't ever felt any pain. My starting weight was 185 and today I am 172, so 13 pounds in two weeks (which is 21% of the weight I need to lose). The hardest part was the two week Protein liquid stage, after surgery. I have also struggled with drinking Water too fast - which has caused immediate and temporary pain but no vomiting. I have zero hunger and fast food smells are no longer appealing. I had a bite of my son's McDonald's french fries and they tasted like nothing. I have pretty much zero cravings for food now - which is CRAZY. Not feeling psycho hungry is amazing and really relaxing. If you asked me 11 days ago, I would be regretting this decision because I was hating the liquid stage. But I am feeling better - it really does get better.
I got my staples out today and my blood pressure and pulse was significantly better. So that is awesome!
As also an update, my husband had surgery on August 14 and has gone from 348 to 285. He is still losing 5 pounds a week!!

I met with my surgeon yesterday, and we scheduled my RNY for 11/30/17. I'm super excited, but also nervous because this of course is a major step in this journey!
Not having cold feet, exactly, but I definitely could use some reinforcement that this going to be one of the best decisions of my life (as I have heard others say before)......

So far I've adjusted my diet over the last few months, a lot more food prep and a lot less eating out/ordering in.
I've been working on my activity level, trying to get walks in when I can. Still struggling with a regular exercise routine but I'm getting there...

Its been a slow accumulation of health issues that has brought me to this point. First the pre-diabetes, then the high blood pressure, then the sleep apnea...these issues all piled up over time until I suddenly realize "Wow, I'm actually in poor health"!
The final moment was when my PCP at a physical a couple weeks ago asked me about my weight and struggles with losing and asked flat out "have you considered bariatric surgery?". It's one thing to know I need to do something about my weight, but to have a medical professional bring it up, unprompted, really struck a chord with me....

Well, here we go, started my appointments in order to receive RNY surgery.
Through the hospital here, I have already gone to an informational meeting, a nutrition seminar, and my first "History and Physical" appointment. Tracking my meals has been easier than I thought, I find myself choosing better options since I have to write it down and I know my nutritionist will see it when I turn in my journal.
Feeling very motivated right now, but I know that I tend to lose focus on things after a short period of time, so I'm always fighting against that. But at least right now, I feel like I'm on the right track. One step at a time, right?

i was sweating the surgery/anesthesia for a while. then i did something that made the worry go away completely...
go google and read the statistics and safety of general anesthesia today. it is shockingly safe. it's like, safer to be asleep under anesthesia then to be sitting on your couch conscious.

Focusing on a short period of time. That's what got me. I had 6 months of appts. The first three months, I was slamming it, doing great, losing...then the "drive" wore down, and as I got closer to surgery (next week), I also got lazy about continuing to write things down. Seriously, i hit a 70 day stride in MyFitnessPal, then went MIA... I have some invisible clock in my head that seems to go about 3 months strong --- so that will be my challenge, to keep going, but hopefully seeing results will make it worth while. I'm back on track now and losing again, whee.
I wanted to welcome you and wish you luck on your journey. My insurance required 6 months, and while it felt like a long time at first, I was grateful, because it allowed me to make important changes. Hope you'r journey is absolutely top-notch awesome.

Through a separate weight loss program, I did Optifast 800 for 4 months total, 5 shakes or meal bars a day with nothing else!
Had great success with it, lost 90 pounds in that 4 months. However, once it was over, the weight came back quickly. So here I am LOL.
Stick with it though, I found that after about the second week your body really adjusts to the lower calorie intake. Just drink more Water and you should be alright!
