Guys I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread that focuses on male issues and I don't mean issues related to sex. This is a great board, it allows people to share their experiences, ask and answer questions and to blow off steam. Many of the participants on this board are female and their experiences are valuable but I thought it would be nice to have a thread that focuses on issues that men face that are unique. An example is caloric intake, men are able to intake more calories than women on average and men tend be more phsycal so men tend to be less focused on calories and more focused on physical activities. (true or false) Other questions I would like to have answers on are what sorts of things are you doing to lose weight, what have you done that is a total failure and what has caused the greatest successes Thanks for your input in advance gentlemen

A little test, it may seem odd but try this. Close your eyes and relax (Make sure you remember these steps because you need to keep your eyes closed as you do this) Imagine that you are going to take a journey wherever you and your imagination choose. Lets do a short test flight, imagine that you are going to travle back to yesterday, you will travel on a scooter that is guided by a line that intersects your body. Imagine this line as it intersects your body allowing you to travel both to the past and to the future. Now answer this question Where does this line intersect your body and in what direction does it point, head or flow. You can use this visualization technique to travel back in time in your mind and re-visit the significant events in your life that impacted your weight gain. You can also travel to the future and see yourself as thin and then travel back and view all of the things that you must do to achieve your target. By traveling to the future in your imagination you can adjust your subliminal vision of how you think being thin will change your life. If you truly do fear being thin your imagination will take you to a place that is not positive, if you then force yourself to change this vision by imagining a positive scenario and if you continue to do this your subliminal view of being thin can be modified from a more negative to a morte positive view. I use this technique more as a tool to help me prepare for stressfull work assignments. I visualize the event being completed in a positive way then I travel back to today and record all of the tasks that I needed to complete to bring about that result. I would never suggest that this will cure or resolve any major internal issues but it can change you attitude about being thin from negative to positive. It is much harder to complete a task if you believe that a negative outcome will result. Now the $64000.00 question, where does that line intersect your body and in which direction?

Anyone consistently on Entertainment tonight, reality TV (I get enough reality in my life). Fuel man, although I agree with much of what you say I must disagree with one of your premises. In FACT........ that's why fatty's overeat, we are trying to fill that hole in our soul," I think that statements like these are to general and give people the impression that there are simple answers to very complicated questions. In many ways it is no different than Gadgetlady assuming that making abortion illegal will solve the problem. For every drug addict, overwieght person or pregnant female there are a unique set of circumstances that brought them to that state. I believe that, because we all live within a unique set of circumstances we require unique solutions. As an example most of the people who are on this site have or are considering having the Lap band surgery as part of a solution for obesity. How we use the band and why we chose the band and for that matter the reasons we are over weight are as unique as we are. I can say without a shadow of doubt that none of the reasons you give why people are overweight apply to me. Because of this a one size fits all solution does not work no matter if the issue is drug addiction, obesity or abortion. And that is why creating laws that make abortion illegal is not the right thing to do. The only person who make the decision is the individual who is fat, addicted or pregnant. I decided to get a lap band based on a unique set of reasons and I am fat because of a unique set of reasons. That is why I should have the right to choose my solution. The state decided that I must pay for the operation myself but I was the person who made the decision for me. It was about my right to choose!!!

tink, I think your post along with many of the posts on this thread are great examples of how far apart the two sides are in the abortion debate. Before I go any further I should make it clear that I am Pro-Choice although I am no fan of abortion. The words you choose are very interesting especially in light of the fact that you are asking everyone to "please be totally informed on both sides of the issue and make an intelligent informed choice" I am pro choice based on two simple principles, No matter my opinion of abortion I have no right to exert my will on others and I do not believe that life begins at conception but rather at birth. I applaud the work that the Pro Life movement does to support and help pregnant women who do not want to keep their babies. I feel strongly that this where they should concentrate their efforts. By doing this many more abortions would be prevented. At the end of the day abortion is legal and it will continue to be so. To make statements that imply that the other side is bad or to state that legalizing abortion implies that bearing children is a punishment seems odd to me. I read your remarks and although I am certain that you are sincere in your beliefs I also feel that the the folks on other side of the argument are much the same. I know that most of the people who have posted on this thread are not card carrying members of the Pro-Life or Pro-Choice movements and much of this discusion is just the opinions of honest hard working individuals with an opinion. I hope I don't insult anyone when I say this but here goes. Generally I find both groups somewhat unscroupulous, they both use key words and phrases that paint the other side as evil and bad. We here phrases like Anti Choice and Pro Death being lobbed across the battlefield as each side vilifies the other. In my opinion, if you dislike someone because they have a different opinion then you than you are the problem. I have already been given up on once because I choose to believe a different set of values once in this thread. It is a slipery slope we head down when we refer to others in this fashion as it allows us to hate. I don't think I need to point out what terrible things people will feel compelled to do to those they hate. There have been many terrible acts performed by people who believe they are only riding the world of those who are evil and stained.

I am against slavery but I have not volunteered or donated money so I am not supposed to have an opinion. Seems to me to be a bit of an odd approach, I just hope that you haven't volunteered with clinic that provides medical care to slaves for I fear that if you are in favour of slavery I will no longer be allowed to voice my opposition. I do not expect everyone else to fix anything, from my perspective it is you who just doesn't get it. Your analogy is just plane stupid, I doubt very much that many Americans are going to run to Canada for the health care. You see the difference is that most Americans live a good life and have no need to come to Canada. If however poor Americans come to Canada to take advantage of the free health care I don't mind. I have no problem paying higher taxes if people who need medical attention get the help they need. I live in a Global world and I would prefer that my taxes go to pay for those who have less no matter what country they come from. By the way I bet that the cost of illegall aliens in the US works out to a few dollars a year per tax payer. A nominal cost at best to help others who are less fortunate. I do expect people to follow the laws of a country but I also expect that people will always do whatever it takes to provide basic human needs. Borders are arbitrary lines, inventions of mankind. food and shelter are basic human needs and most people who break these laws do so to meet those needs. There are many laws and some are just plane silly, we break them all the time, I speed and jay walk but I also consider myself a law abiding citizen. I break those laws because I am in a hurry not because I am hungry, cold or afraid. We can all pontificate about being law abiding citizens when it suits us but the truth is that as long as people are poor and have less they will attempt to resolve these issues however they are able. To paint them as criminals is just plain unreasonable and wrong. You may be right about one thing, I have done little for these people and I think it is time for me to re-evaluate how I direct my assistance. I can do a lot more, although it will be in support of illegals in Canada. You have previously stated that you were once a member of the Catholic Church. I support a number of charities including the homeless, Cancer research and Heart and stroke with significant amounts of time and money. (By the way this is nun of your F***ing business and I do this quite gladly and privately) I have not yet given any time and money to illegal imigrants in the US but it is silly to suggest that I am not allowed to have an opinion on the topic. BJean, I have no compassion for Jerry Fallwell, I find(found) him and the filth he spewed disgusting. My issue is with how negative the comments have been about the illegal immigrants crossing the US Mexico border. I believe that those people deserve my support, I support the right for a woman to choose, I support Gay rights, I feel strongly that as someone who is lucky enough to have more that I need to stand up for those who have less. The folks who are crossing the border are doing so because they have less and want for a better life. Someone said "send them to Canada", as a Canadian I say please do but I would bet that if they had better lives they wouldn't be illegally entering the US. Canadians are not entering the US for a better life because they already have a good life. Maybe the answer is to support initiatives that help Mexico as it continues down a journey to a strong economy and fair and honest Government. We live in a Global world and as the world improves so do we, I know my beliefs are somewhat naive but I don't care. I grew up in the 60's/70's and I want nothing less than utopia. To say that Gay rights are important but only for those Gay folks that are citizens of my country would seem short sited. If I have misinterpreted what was posted on the illegal aliens thread the I apologize but it seems to me that some of the folks who are posting about Jerry Falwell and how bad he is because he spews hatred are in the next breath talking about the terrible illegal aliens and how they are stealing money and Jobs from American citizens. If you do the research you will find that this is often not the case.

Sorry but I have been away for a while and probably won't be around much for the next few weeks/Months. I have done quick review of all that I have missed on LBT the last while and the Death of Jerry Fallwell and all of the posts on this thread seem kind of odd to me. Don't get me wrong, I could care a less if Fallwell is dead, it's just that I can't help asking what he thought about all the illegal aliens getting into the USA.
