I'm sure all the Catholics feel better now that we agree it's not Catholics you dislike it's Catholicism. As an Athiest I feel no need to dislike any religion, I just don't believe in God. How people who do believe in God choose to worship is of little consequence to me.

I have Hypothyroidism and have lost 120 lbs's in the almost two years since being banded. I was self pay so I didn't need any approval other than my doctor. I continue on my meds although the dose has dramatically reduced. Cheers TommyO

Dumbledoor's sexuality should not matter to anyone but Dumbledoor and possibly Dumbledoor's partner/s. The sooner society is able to come to terms with that the better off we will be. When I interact with other people at work or in any social setting I shouln't care, nor do I care, who they choose to have sex with. (As long as it's with consenting adults). We have a Gay rights movement because we need it, Gays are discriminated against because they participate in an activity that is none of my business. The idea that someone would ban a piece of literature because a fictional character is Gay is somehow funny and sad at the same time. The worst part of this thread however is that now I am worried that some evening my door bell will ring and when I open the door to see who has come a calling I will be confronted with a vision of Dumbledoor wearing the sorting hat ass fucking Cornelius Fudge as the hat shouts Slytherin, Slytherin, Slytherin!!!!

I can't tell if you are saying guns should be made available to all who choose to own one or if you are advocating the use of guns as long as there is significant gun controls put in place. One final question, if you choose to protect your family with AK 47's or an anti aircraft gun should I be fine with that. And if not how come you get decide for someone else the type, size and number of weapons they should be allowed to use to protect their perimeter

Hooey, If there is one place in the world where the citizenry is fed a pile of crap by special interest groups it's US. I don't need the Gun lobby to tell me how important it is for my safety to own a gun. In response to your statement about being confronted in a situation where you could live or die,I could also say unless you've lived in a country where there is gun control you have no real idea what you are talking about. I have been threatened twice by individuals carrying weapons, once a knife and the second time an individual threatened me with a steel ball welded to a chain. I feel no need to cary a knife or ball and chain to defend myself nor do I want a gun. Somehow you feel that you have the right to set the critieria for ones ability to debate on this topic. Something I have seen numerouse times on this site. Funny you can comment on what is said in Canada about gun control having never lived here but only those who have been placed in immediate physical harm are able to understand what they are talking about when it comes to gun control. As long as the gun lobby continues to feed you their bull and you continue to eat significant numbers of people will continue to be shot and killed in the US anually.

Owning a gun has no impact on protection, I am much safer living in Canada where citizens do not have the right to bear arms. The idea that a gun will act as a deterent is a falacy and there is nothing a criminal would like better than to find your gun when they break into your house.

If the right to Bear arms means I can go sleevless then I'm all for it, If the right to Bear arms means a individual has the right to have the arms of a Bear transplanted on their body then although I would'nt do it myself I still think it should be a right of every citizen. This is a far bigger issue than making fun of fat people. The question is when is it acceptable to make fun of a specific group of people. For example if you were to watch any of the Austin Powers movies it is very evident that Mike Myers pokes fun at anyone and everyone. If I am offended at fat jokes because I am fat should I not then realize that making fun of people with moles on their faces is equally offensive or should I only be concerned about that which offends me? I don't know the answer but I believe strongly that as long as the humour is not directed at a racial minority society will not care. I also beleive that it's good that we are generally apposed to making fun of minorities but we also must remember that the message is important. If for instance the we use humour to simply insult some group then it is wrong. If however the humour is intended to point out social injustice then it has some merrit. An example might be this a comic telling a joke about a fat person eating all the food at a buffet may be in poor taste to some but a comic telling a funny strory about overweight people eating diet food all the time is less offensive because it points out that eating diet food is not likely to work. I don't know where to draw the line but I also know that where I choose to draw the line really does not matter. Finally saying "jokes about fat people eating all the food at the buffet is in poor taste" is a pretty good pun. Cheers TommyO

Lee, I am concerned for your health, your rambling style makes me think that you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If I am incorect I am sorry please take no offence, I only say this because I am concerned, I understand that being a single parent is very stressfull.

An interesting statistic is that the U.S. governmemt pays more per capita on health care than anywhere esle in the world. But still does not have universal health care, I guess that big business and their lobyists are doing a good job. So far they have been able to convince many North Americans that health care is bad, guns save lifes, global warming is a myth.......... PS: I say north Americans because many Canadians believe this stuff too it's just that we aren't as big a market so the effort to distort the truth is far less.

Maybe we should go and get some facts, We should also do something about the number of people who make unsubstantiated statements about topics they know nothing about. One more thing your last paragraph beggining with "Last thing...why are so many Poor people" are you kidding, please tell me you are, did you read what you wrote.
