  1. I am off Nexium. I have not taken my BP med for over a week due to a sustained low BP.
  2. I had a similiar experience with UnitedHealth. My nurse case manager shared with me that she and several of the other case managers had had the surgery. That company was more than supportative during the approval process and the approval came through in less than two weeks. Wishing you the best!
  3. I have sleep apnea and have had 4 surgeries with no respiratory complications. The anesthesiology department is trained to handle sleep apnea patients. Is it possible your physician has other concerns about your health and ability to be a good candidate for surgery? Whatever the case, it can not hurt to seek a second opinion. Good Luck
  4. Thank you all! It's good to know that I am not alone in this and to receive assurance that it gets better. I was able to attend a meeting today at work SILENTLY! It was much better today. I am looking forward to continued wellness! Thanks for all the suggestions!
  5. Today was my first day back at work. I have a private office and spent much of the day erupting in gas everywhich way:eek: I am 7 days post op on a full liquid diet. I stayed in my office, afraid of erupting in public. Any suggestions? Thanks. Tammygirl
  6. Mamato3, YOU GO GIRL!!!! 50 POUNDS IS FANTASTIC!!!:thumbup: Thank you for giving me so much encouragement today!
  7. YOU GO GIRL!!! 50 POUNDS IS FANTASTIC!!! i
  8. Glad you mentioned the reflux, Mbanja. I found that out the hard way:eek:. After taking my meds, I have evacuated the meds from the small pouch with a couple of ounces of fluid or so. This has virtually eliminated the gastric discomfort from my meds. I like the idea of the compound pharmacy morning sun spoke about. I think I will follow up on that one. Thanks!
  9. Congratulations on taking a step toward wholeness, Metcalf! I have found nonstrenous walking helpful in relieving discomfort! Perhaps you might try sugar free Jello and popsicles. They come in lots of nice flavors. I have also learned to combine my flavors in Protein drinks for a switch. A mixture of chocolate and vanilla is a favorite of mine. I also enjoy soft sugar free pudding in a variety of flavors. :shades_smile:My husband has started making my broth from scratch using fresh vegatables and meat. He then strains off the solids and serves it. YUM! If all else fails, your doc's staff should have plenty of ideas. This board also has loads of ideas too. Just check with your doc to make sure they are OK for you. Lastly, hang in there! According to the oldtimers, the best is yet to come! Great health to you! Tammygirl
  10. Hi Zoommomma, I am newly banded and dealing with medication delivery issues also. I am working very closely with my doctors on this. I have found some of my meds can be crushed, some had to discontinued and replaced with new ones, and some were represcribed in liquid form. Please consult your prescribing docs, they can help you through this.
  11. Lady, I am sorry to hear of your complications but so glad you have such a responsive medical team. I wish you well in your recovery.
  12. Hello ET and others, I was banded on the 28th also. I am dealing with the belching also. I am so glad you posted. My doc recommends plenty of fluids to help with elimination and I have found that helpful. I am confident that I have made the right decision and know that this initial stage will pass. I dealt with some guilt until my husband pointed out to me that morbid obesity is an illness and when you are sick, you just don't sit down and be content to stay sick. You avail yourself to available treatment. For me, this is the treatment of last resort. I have tried everything else. I am thankful for this board and for all of you. Most of all, I am grateful that this treatment even exsists. A smooth recovery to all of us newbies, thanks to the oldtimers, and good health for all:smile:
  13. Hi Whip! Tammygirl here again! Well I did it! I was banded on April 28 and came home the next day. I am a little sore, but feel great. I am not scared anymore. I know I have done something positive for my health and I am excited! Take care, Whip! I wish you the very best!
  14. Dperson, Please consider seeking a second opinion from another physician. If that physician concurs that surgery would be good for you, transfer your care and medical records to him/her. He/She will write your recommendation and support you through the process. Be sure to send your before and after pictures to your old physician:lol:! Wishing you the very best! Tammygirl:wink_smile:
  15. Tracy!!! Thanks for such an inspiring post! Tammygirl:thumbup:
  16. Hi Whip! I am being banded on Monday, the 28th and I am scared too....scared of continuing to live this way. I wish you the very best in your procedure, your recovery, and your new life. Tammygirl:thumbup:
  17. Hi Pammie! I am a registered nurse in the states and therefore can not speak to the limits of nursing practice in England. (I am assuming that as a midwife you are also a nurse.) You may wish to contact your national professional nursing association and inquire as to whether this fits within the scope of nursing practice before moving forward. They may also be able to advise you on other nurses who may already perform this procedure. In the states, nurses may fill and unfill the port under the order of the physician. Good Luck in your endeavor! Tammygirl
  18. My date is the 28th also! I am excited about improving my health! You are not alone! We will do well! There is a wealth of support on these boards and I am glad for it! See you on the other side of Bandland! Tammygirl
  19. Rick, I am so encouraged by you! I will be banded 4/28 and I am determined. Thanks! Tammygirl
  20. Thank you all! This is excellent information. I am going to order one.
  21. Oh what a tangled web we weave.... Why must we tell everything to everyone if we do not care to? Why take the time to dream up a lie that will be found out later? What if the gall bladder does eventually act up? It's like the worker that forgets his grandmother already died 2 yrs. ago and every one else remembers so why is the grandmother dead again? I am simply stating I am off for a week due to a medical procedure, Period. On the job, the less drama, the better. My job performance is up for scrutiny, not my weight.
  22. Soaps are known for being the first in Hollywood to broach tough subjects in their story lines. Kudos to the writers of Guiding Light and to this actress. Wouldn't be nice for us to let them know how much this appreciated by writing them?
  23. Hello to all of you from Aiken, SC! I will be banded in Augusta, GA on 4/28. Tammygirl:thumbup:
  24. Thank you all so much for your replies. I appreciate your experiences and counsel. I will continue my weight loss journey and work closely with my doctors. My surgery date has been set for April 28. Even if I am still left with depression, I am grateful that the meds are available and I may be able to leave meds for my other weight related conditions behind. I don't know where I would be without this board. Again, thank you! Tammygirl:tt1:
