I need help keeping this secret!
laceemouse replied to laceemouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not that I care what others think as much as I like sharing. Like PNWsleever says, it's exciting! I also value honesty, like I said it kinda bugs me that the one friend keeps it secret. I know it is her decision to make but I asked and she flat out lied. THAT is not my style, I share. Especially if the person asking would benefit from the info. So yep, pretty sure I will share after it is done, if people ask. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App -
I have always loved Lands End suits, modest but not frumpy, good support. You can get under wire or bra like tops, separate bottoms. I like the skirt bottoms because my thighs are yucky. Look now, the will have clearance sales. You can make returns at Sears, easy. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App

Wow, I have been through the bra drawers and never seen anything like that in the Plano or Frisco TX locations. Maybe it depends on the size of the store? Or maybe they have them in the back and I would have to ask?? Not that it matters, I found an Olga bra I love at Kohl's, every time I get a 30% off I go buy a couple more. I have a ton of them, I will be sad when they get too big (although I know my husband will be praying my boobs don't go away, hehe) Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App

I need help keeping this secret!

Yes, it is exciting! However, most of my friends are not overweight, neither is my husband. He is supportive but I know none of my friends will "get it" if I tell them. I am glad I found this site to ask questions and read about other experiences, and I also plan to start visiting a support group at the hospital next week. Before I gained all this weight I was a B cup. Currently D. I fully expect to lose cup size when I lose 100 pounds. I expect sagging too but I am almost 54. It is what it is. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App

I have 3 daughters and have taken them shopping at VS many times. They have a range of sizes you can't find everywhere. My oldest is teeny, like a size 2, with barely enough for an A cup and a small band size (she is 25) My second daughter (23) is more of an average size but still likes their frilly, girly things. My youngest is 18 and for years VS was the only place we could find bras to fit her. She was this stick skinny kid with huge boobs. Seriously, a tiny band size with D cups. So hard to fit! Now she is not so skinny so easier to fit anywhere. I am a 40D. I have looked and nothing at VS is that big. Not in the stores anyway. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App

I need help keeping this secret!
laceemouse replied to laceemouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys! Part of the struggle for me is I am such a big mouth. The other is that I feel kinda angry at my one friend who had the surgery but kept it secret, mainly because I would love to pick her brain about who did her surgery, how things went, etc. I also have a group of friends I go out to eat with monthly. They are going to guess something is up. But for now I am not telling, guess I will decide later if I want to share and who to share with. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App -
Ugh. I would like to know too.

What happens when a sleever reaches old age and low appetite?
laceemouse replied to TracyBar's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Interesting point. Also maybe due to evolution the metabolism slows down since it would require us to use less energy resulting in us having to hunt and gather less calories to survive? Also, sadly, very obese people may not live as long due to an earlier death from a comorbidity of obesity. Honestly I always just thought that obese people are so much less likely to make it to old age. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App I think that is what most people say but it isn't 100% true.Oh I understand, nothing is true 100% of the time, but according to my surgeon being 100 pounds overweight, on average, takes 10 years off a person's life. Ten years less than average life expectancy doesn't really give you time to go into a retirement home. Of course there are people who beat the odds, like smokers who live long, healthy lives, but they are not the norm. I do understand that elderly people lose muscle mass, and height as well, so they tend to shrink. And often lose appetite as well. That is the least of my worries personally. Newbie Here! My story so far...

Great news! Best of luck to you. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App -
From everything I have read people who start with the highest weight will lose the quickest. You don't say what your starting weight was or how much you have to lose. I am pre-op but don't plan to go in hoping to lose as quickly as someone who starts weighing 100 pounds more than I weigh. I know it isn't realistic.

Only a doctor can say if her heart is strong enough for surgery, but I do agree that losing the weight would help. Just have her see her doctor and discuss the risks and benefits of WLS. Hope this helps.

I will be the first to start
laceemouse replied to bellevuefreak's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It totally depends on your insurance. I am in the Dallas area and have BC/BS Texas. For BMIs between 35 and 39.9 you have to have one co-morbid condition NOT controlled by medication. I know lots of people on blood pressure medication, including myself, and not a single one is not controlled by medication. I would think they would keep trying until they got the right medication for you. Now for BMIs 40 and over you don't need anything else. I am your same height (but much older) and started looking into WLS about 18 months ago. I was about your weight then and was told no way insurance would pay. Now, I didn't try to gain weight, but alas I have and now I am at the magic 40. I have my psych eval this week and pray for a quick approval. However, many people on this site have many more hoops to jump thru. Some have to have met the 40 BMI for 3 years, some have to see a NUT for months or years prior to approval, etc. Totally depends on your insurance. I am not sure how the doctor can fib on your BMI either, don't they look at your medical records?? Anyway, I wish you luck! -
Advice on nutrition when flying 2 weeks post-op
laceemouse replied to vamping's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yep, just flew this past week. You can't take more than 3 oz of liquid with you, however, you can buy water after going through security so the powdered protein would work.
