    Clear liquids

Totally depends on your surgeon, I would call and ask. Some people on these forums have said all they did was no eating after midnight the night before surgery, so lots of variation out there.
  2. Girl I don't know what to say except I will be sending you good vibes to get back on track after delivery! I wasn't obese as a kid or young adult. In my 30's I had 4 babies in 6 years and gained and gained and gained. Not blaming them one bit, but I was just never able to get the weight off each time before getting pregnant again. I TOTALLY understand how you feel. When I was pregnant I was starving. I had very little morning sickness, and the small amount I had passed quickly. However, and this is hard to explain, I felt like IF my stomach got empty I WOULD start to feel barfy. So I had 3 meals and probably 3 big Snacks a day and if I missed one I would start to feel shaky and sick to my stomach. Anyway, I am pre-op for the sleeve now. I hope you get some answers. Maybe a NUT can help after you deliver? Oh, and all of my babies were huge and I nursed all of them for a year or more (then quit and got pregnant again) That thing about the weight falling off when you nurse? Yep, it never happened to me. But I do admit my eating was out of control. My kids are all adults now, and they were all very much worth it, but just wanted to let you know I understand how you are feeling being hungry all the time

    Dr in Dallas or Irving

Insurance or private pay? I called around to a lot of them and visited a couple before realizing that my insurance recommends certain surgeons and if I go with them it is supposed to go more smoothly as far as approval. Also, I live in Plano, I love the idea of my surgery being right down the street from my house.

    Dr in Dallas or Irving

After getting the runaround by most of the other big names in the area I realized that my BCBS plan recommends Hamn/Cribbins. They also do surgery at Plano Presby, which is 5 minutes from my house. I have seen Dr. Hamn (loved him) and done my psych eval. All I need now is for it all to be sent to BCBS for approval.
  5. Best of luck to all of you!!!!
  6. It totally depends on your insurance. Some WANT you to lose weight on a supervised program before surgery because they want to know that you are serious and will stick to your new eating program after surgery. Some want you to lose weight before surgery just to make it go more smoothly. I do understand your concern. I am barely BMI 40, in fact when I first start looking into WLS they told me there was no way my insurance would pay because I was below 40 and had no other real health issues. Thankfully it looks like now that my BMI is 40 I have a good chance of approval and will not have to do any dietary plan before surgery. So, my short answer is, it depends. Good luck to you!!

    Diet 3 months pre op

Are you required by your insurance or doctor to do this?
  8. Best of luck to everyone going in to start their new life tomorrow!!

    Too much weight loss?

There are so many variables, the main one being how much do you need to lose?? Most people lose quickly at first, especially those who have a LOT to lose, but then it slows down. The sleeve will stretch, you will be able to eat more, your hunger will come back, etc. Most people have to start working to lose weight after a few weeks or months. I am pre-op though, I am just going by what I have read and heard. Always best to ask your doctor or NUT.

    Newbie saying hello

I waffle back and forth between being nervous and being really excited and ready! Last week we went on vacation, flew from Dallas and Orlando and back. The plane going was newer and the seat belts were fine, but coming back it was an older plane and I could barely buckle it. I told my husband I don't want to fly again until I lose weight. Do you follow any blogs or watch YouTube? There are a ton of video blogs on YouTube of people who have had WLS. I am kinda obsessed with watching them, there are lots of people who have lost lots of weight and are doing great, it gives me hope!

Welcome! I don't know much about reflux but I just wanted to say my stats are the same as yours. I had my psych eval last Thursday, I hope to have an insurance approval and surgery date soon. Best of luck to you!!

    Pre Surgery Freak Outs

Have you watched any YouTube videos about WLS or gastric sleeve? I highly recommend them, they are kinda like video diaries of the entire process and help me a lot. I love Clusie L (you search and find her) but recently I have become a huge fan of Less of Sarah. She addresses this very topic. Yes, WLS is drastic, but the odds or a person losing 50 pounds and keeping them off for at least 5 years is 2%. Seriously 2%. Most of us have more than 50 pounds to lose (I have twice that much) I like the surgery odds of keeping it off much better. I can't keep going on like this forever.

    No Pre Op liquid diet?

Not having to wait for insurance approval will make it quicker but there are still things to be considered. How busy is the surgeon? You may have to wait a few weeks to get on the schedule. Also, some pre-op testing may still be required like blood work. It totally depends on the surgeon. Good luck to you!

I will be the first to start

Good luck to you, I can't wait to hear how it works out for you!! How tall are you? It sounds like we have about the same stats
  15. Hi everyone! I am new here. My name is Lacee and I am an over-sharer. Yep, I am a big mouth, in real life and on Facebook (I have over 600 FB friends) I am an extreme extrovert who just tells everyone everything. I don't usually worry about how they will take what I say, they are free to avoid me in the future or unfriend me on Facebook or whatever. I have been thinking about/researching WLS for a couple of years. For a while I was just under 40 BMI and really don't have any co-morbid issues so I was told my insurance would not pay. My husband and I discussed self-pay but decided to think about it and research more. Now, since I haven't even been trying to lose weight for the past couple of years, I have hit the magic 40 BMI. Have had my first appointment with my surgeon (the one my insurance recommends, I did visit a couple of others but have decided to go with him) and have my psych eval this Thursday. My surgeon's office thinks approval will be easy and quick. I am excited and scared! Anyway, I have gone over and over this a million times but I have decided not to share this decision with anyone. Well, my husband knows of course. We have 4 adult kids and I have mentioned it to a couple of them but they still don't know for sure and I may not bring it up again until maybe the night before I go for the surgery, not sure??? I really don't know very many other obese people. I have one friend who had the surgery but won't admit it (she told one other friend who accidentally spilled the Beans to me) and another friend who has lost over 250 pounds on her own (awesome, but really hard work and she has lost and gained many times before, like most of us) I just know too many people who will try to sell me Plexus or magic oils or tell me to try whatever crazy diet they are currently on (all meat, all raw, etc, etc) Maybe I will tell people after?? Do most people keep this secret? Does anyone else out there have trouble keeping this secret?

  17. Oh believe me I would never say anything to anyone I didn't know as far as what they should do. Just back to my situation with me friend, I wish she had shared with me because I wasn't aware of the options out there. And I do need help, obviously, or I wouldn't be here. Still wish I could talk to her about it, but I am moving on. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App
  18. Honestly, for me I would feel like I was lying, but that is just me. I wish I wasn't such a big mouth. Before going out to dinner with friends or a work function with my husband I will promise myself I won't talk too much but try to listen to others and let someone else have the spotlight. It never works, I just can't stand a lull in the conversation. Ugh. Also gotta add, assuming I do get WLS and it works for me I will have a hard time not, I don't know how to put it, "evangelizing". Like we were at Disney World last week and I saw so many struggling with obesity. Just miserable. I felt bad for them I gotta say, I love your posts. I love your moxie! And your story is so inspiring. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App
  19. So your love of sharing somehow negates my desire for privacy? It makes me dishonest? My WLS must now benefit others? They didn't tell me anything about this in my bariatric seminars. Oh my gosh no, I understand people want privacy. This is just a personal issue between me and this one person I have a personal relationship with. I would LOVE to be able to ask her about HER surgery because I know her and trust her and, to me anyway, hearing directly from someone I have known for 10+ years what it was like, what her recovery was like, how she is feeling now, etc would mean a lot to me. So many people on this forum seem to have family and friends who have had WLS. Sure I can meet people now online and in a support group and ask them about their experiences but it isn't the same, to me anyway, as hearing it all from a friend. The good, the bad, and the ugly. I would never expect her, or anyone else, to broadcast her business to everyone if they don't want to. I would just love to discuss it with HER. I started this basically to get a feeling for maybe how I would feel sharing with others IRL. I wanted to know what other people do. Just trying to decide what I will do. I am not judging anyone for sharing or not. I don't know any of you IRL. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App Love this answer!! Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App

  23. I had to have my gallbladder out in early 2001. I had lost 40 measly pounds in 3 or 4 months on Weight Watchers. My youngest daughter was 3 at the time and I remember telling the surgeon I had experienced a lot of heartburn with her (my fourth pregnancy) He said I probably had gallstones even back then. I gained a lot of weight through 4 pregnancies in 6 years. Anyway, like most of us yo yo dieters I did gain the 40 pounds back, and then some, but I don't think lack of a gallbladder causes weight gain. I did have diarrhea for years off and on after the surgery, but it was better than the churning and burning in my stomach caused by gallstones. Avoiding heavy or fatty foods helped, but WLS people should be doing that anyway. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App
  24. Oh my gosh, love me some Clusie!! I was going to start a thread like this, so happy I found this one. I am going to check out these other peeps tomorrow! Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App

From fat and firm to fit and floppy.

You know it could be these sizes are a newer addition, I haven't been in one of their stores in a couple of years. My older two girls are financially independent these days and my youngest daughter is an easier to fit size now. Thanks for the info though Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App
