After 3 weeks, I finally called my insurance company and I found out I was APPROVED! I am so excited, I have been psyching myself out for all of this time. Next step is scheduling.
I have to do a Upper GI, blood work, and. NUT class before surgery.
I am so excited! Its finally real!

Who's your insurance carrier? I was told it could take as long as 30 days to hear back from my insurance company (Anthem BCBS).
Aetna. The insurance coordinator said average is 2 weeks. Im hoping in on the low end of that average

I finished my supervised diet and paperwork was submitted on 3/6. They told me it would be 2-15 business days, which seems like forever! Hopefully I will get an answer soon .

That makes sense, thanks!@@haliib I won't wear a 'no blind intubation' Bracelet because if I *need* an emergent airway, I don't care if they blow my stomach out getting one. Blind intubations aren't common and not having a patent airway and being hypoxic is life threatening and more important than preserving the integrity of my sleeve.

I have recently seen people who have medical ID bracelets after WLS. Most common I have seen are "No Blind Intubation", and "No sugars or NSAIDS".
Are these common? My doctor hasnt said anything about it.

Hi! I had my first appointment on 11/28 and the best advice i can give you is write all your questions down. Because once you get in there and they start talking technic all that stuff flies out of your head.
Bring a supportive person, my mother came with me and remembered a lot of stuff i forgot to ask.
And font worry if you forget a few questions, you can always call your office or ask at the next appointment.
Good luck!!

I officially have my consultation/first appointment with my surgeon. Nov. 30th. So that means my 6 month pre-op will be over in April. And hopefully if all goes according to plan i could have my surgery by the end of may or June. So excited and nervous, but I am so ready!

Just found out that my insurance won't cover any type of bariatric surgery, and it would take me years to save up enough for self-pay.
Im just stuck now and feeling pretty sad about it. I really thought this was going to be my turning point.

Hello! I am new to this site. I just started researching options for WLS a few days ago, and I have a few general questions I feel like I should get answered before I get my hopes up for anything.
(I understand that this is just a forum, and people are giving me opinions based on their experiences.)
I am 23 years old, and 250 lbs. My BMI is 41.
I have been obese since I turned 16 and started working at a fast food restaurant. I have been trying to lose weight since then. My pattern tends to be that I do really well for a few weeks and then I fall off the wagon once that initial motivation is gone and gain back even more weight.
My questions are as follows:
1) I have never done a medically supervised weight loss program. ( I have done Weight Watchers and similar programs). Will they want me to try a medically supervised program before considering me?
2) I have no co-morbidities, but diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension runs very strongly in my family. Could that be a reason to deny me?
Thank you for any responses you can give me, I appreciate any and all opinions and experiences. If these questions are more suited for a surgeon please let me know.
Thanks!
Weight gain after 1 week post op

Hey guys, I was sleeved on 5/16, and I lost 10 lbs in the first 10 days, and since I started purees I have stopped losing weight and actually have gained 3 lbs. I know they say you can stall at week 2 or 3, but this is so beyond frustrating.
How in the world have I GAINED weight? I haven't eaten more than 800 calories in a day.
I know I just need to keep at it, it is just so upsetting that I went through all of this and I'm not getting any results. (Not losing inches either, I checked).
