  1. So I've stalled for almost 2 weeks and of course I've read the embrace the stall threads etc. Recently I watched vlogs on YouTube with people who stalled and then as their vlogs continue they all lose respectable amounts of weight. My question is this, it seems that when faced with the stall almost everyone tried different strategies to "break" the stall like going all Atkins or keto, some began working out furiously and others increased their calorie intake... Do you think there is a strategy or is it merely following whatever guide and being patient? It seems like the answer is the latter and all the other stuff is just busy work and distractions. Your thoughts? HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 269 lbs

  5. I'm so glad to be reading this. I too have been at a stall for over a week now and hate it... But I read suggestions about measuring oneself and it turns out that I've lost an inch off my waist and half inches off my hips and chest, so it's moving. I just wish the scale would go down already. 6. Uh huh... you are negative and being a troll. We all know people who say ugly things and then add "just kidding", usually called worse things than troll. HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 269 lbs
  7. Yep me too. I'm 3 weeks post-op and I was just gliding down but I've been 4 days without losing any weight. It seems that many of the veterans on here counsel patience, just focusing on eating right and meeting the protein/water reqs. Still it's frustrating knowing that for over the past week I've only consumed less than 600 calories a day and I've been ping ponging between 269 and 270. It boggles the mind. 8. So dumb question why is cold water difficult? I prefer my water cold and haven't noticed any issues with it. HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 270 lbs

  10. It really is Patti. I wasn't 100% compliant with the pre-op (mine was calorie reduction to 700, with 2 shakes a day) when I went over it was with an extra salad or more Protein, no junk food. It was difficult but it will all work out. HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 270 lbs
  11. I'm not purposefully counting calories I'm using MFP to monitor my protein and Water intake and you're right I'm not meeting the protein amount. I'm not sure how it can be done at 300-600 range. Maybe it isn't suppose too initially. HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 270 lbs
  12. Thanks I was looking for people who were already at this stage or beyond. So this is really helpful. I've been getting better about my water intake so I hope it passes soon. HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 270 lbs
  13. At my 2 week post op I was allowed to begin soft foods. Sick of the pre made shakes I have begun making my own which I drink in sips over the course of the day, while also eating about a quarter cup of lentil Soup and a bite of cheese here and there. My surgeon told me that in a month or so I would probably take in about 600 to 700 calories a day. Currently I'm about 350 to 500 and while my energy levels are returning I'm not at 100% and get lightheaded when I get up from sitting or walking upstairs. Is this common? Was there anything that you did to overcome that? Or is it just an adjustment that will take time? Thanks in advance HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 270 lbs
  14. If you have to wait until next year maybe you can get the max amount on a flexible spending acct. I went that route and because everything was already pre-credited on the card I just paid that way HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 270 lbs
  15. I think a couple of easy responses would be:"Yes I'm taking the easy way out to save my life, thanks for letting me know" or "I really appreciate your concern/curiosity about this event however I'm not comfortable discussing it right now. I trust that you can respect my wishes... so how about this crazy weather?" or "Your line of questioning is inappropriate; please desist." I have used variations of these replies for the sassy to salty peeps I know. Some people are curious sincerely and with them I usually give an abbreviated account along with my programs info. This experience is stressful for everyone. No one decided to do this for fun or without consideration. It's surgery and people can die from that but we each and everyone of us was on a definite path to an early death or risking preventable disease (high bp, heart disease, diabetes, etc) because of obesity. It's proven, there's studies upon studies, and so many facts about the dangers of obesity that the time was now to take of it. WLS was the best option for everyone here too, the data supports that our health will improve. This is a lot of information that can't just be said in a passing comment or single sentence. Good luck OP. HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 270 lbs
  16. Wow his questions are totally an HR issue. You could of easily reported him for harassment I mean what if you were a woman and he was needling you for your bra size I kind of consider it in the same realm. Ha you should of said, "oh hey I'm flattered but I don't date coworkers" that would of shut him up. HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 270 lbs
  17. I'm suppose to drink 64 Oz of Water but I haven't done it yet. Every day though it seems I get a little bit better getting it together. Wed I had 16 Oz Thurs was 24 oz, today I expect to do at least 40 oz. Still adjusting to my new stomach HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 270 lbs
  18. 19. I was sleeved 08/09 and ate some nonfat greek yogurt today and it was great. Like the person before me said it could be an intolerance you've developed. I've eaten boiled eggs all my life but last month began to get headaches from it, guess who developed an egg white Protein intolerance, yep this lady. Intolerance aren't so bad, you won't die usually just feel blah to barfy. Heh HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 270 lbs

  21. This! I was sleeved 08/09 and since Monday I have felt utterly fatigued. I have a stairs in my house and by the time I get to the second floor I feel winded enough that I have to sit down to recover. I think my issue is not enough calories and a lack of electrolytes (which I've been working on). HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 270 lbs

  23. Also, everyone's post op plan is different. But, pre op, I was eating crazy amounts of food. Probably 3,000-4,000 a day! And now, 600 at most, it's a major decline in calories. Its all how you progress too, some people don't handle certain foods/ stages well. I will probably come across many foods that are no no's to my new tummy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Thanks! I agree eating less than a 1000 calories a day vs my pre op eating ack 3000+ is going to be a huge difference and it is already. 24. I definitely experienced pain first day and nausea. I actually began dry heaving what felt like thick burps but nothing else coming up. My room was private and I was encouraged to walk almost an hour after waking up. I was groggy from the anesthesia and my poor nurse was clapping and directing me to keep focused. I found out that my doctor did not allow patients to have on demand pain meds, so I had to ask which I did twice. I was not allowed anything no ice chips, no Water, not even wet swabs for the entire afternoon until the next day. It sucked. I brought with me a change of clothes, a kindle, my purse, a phone charger, and my embroidery kit. Overall my stay was pretty good and even got boring towards the end. I had a private room and my lovely fiancée stayed the night and was really my rock. HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 270 lbs
  25. Hmm I was under the impression that I'd be eating a cup of food for like 6 months post op. Definitely will follow this thread because I'm curious sleeved on 08/09 day of surgery- 268 lbs
