  1. I know this is an old post but I thought I would chime in and say hi to the other Portland Oregon people! My surgery date was April 21st and so far I've lost 23 lbs...Very happy!
I am wondering if anyone knows of a local support group. The one on meetup.com seems totally dead. Their last meetup was in September.

I would love to know if there is a support group as well! :)

  2. Hi fellow sleevers! I am finally on the other side and beginning a whole new chapter in this book of getting healthy.

My surgery on the 24th was very uneventful as was my recovery. I was in the hospital for only one night. I'm not a rookie to surgeries as I have about 6 of them in the last 10 years. My last one before being sleeved was to remove 2 brain tumors and I spent 2 weeks in the hospital and almost a year recovering. This surgery, well, was a piece of cake. :)

To back up a little, I only had to lose 8lbs. before surgery and I only had to be on a liquid diet the day before. Now, let me tell you if you're used to eating a lot(and I was) even one day of the liquid diet was not so fun (I feel for you if you had to do 2 weeks).

Weighing in at the hospital I was 215lbs. My highest weight was 228 and now 7 days post op I am at 204. So far so good.

I requested anti-nausea meds for pre-op, post-op and for home. Usually anesthesia and pain meds make me deathly ill and I wasn't up for that after abdominal surgery. So, with a patch below my ear and nausea meds through my IV I was ready for battle! :)

Surgery took about an hour and 30 minutes. My surgeon had to also repair a hiatal hernia but that seems to be the norm. I was very fuzzy coming out of anesthesia and was like that the rest of the day. I did get up and walk a couple times and had some ice chips. But the best part was that I had absolutely no nausea which was a first for me after surgery! Super happy!

I'm going to write more in another post. Time for a break. :)
