I also had this, the difference is the length of your common channel, it's usually longer 250+ whereas traditional DS is between 100-150. I still say DS but we just absorb more than traditional. The modified is also known as SIPS, so you'll see people refer to that as well. However, my center wants me on low fat too this is due to the malabsorption, you absorb more than traditional DS so full fat doesn't really matter for them. Hope this helps!:)

  2. Hellos,
i would be three months post op on the 21st. I'm in the same boot with you. My phones does not ring. Thank God for my Husband and my mother. I find myself vomiting everything I eat. I feel like I am better off not eating or drinking. I have to force myself to eat and drink. I wait about two hours before eating or drinking to avoid vomiting. I am an emotional wreck and at time I break out crying for no apparent reason. I am all over the place with my emotions.

Wow that's rough because you're having complications on top of that. I'm sorry, it's a roller coaster ride for sure. I have my good days and bad days, but I have to keep reminding myself why I did this in the first place. I hope you get better! Have you talk to your surgeon? Do they know what may be going on?

  3. Lol at the pictures of loose skin, and I agree with@OutsideMatchInside loose skin is almost inevitable and you have to come to terms with it (I still worry, but I know I'll have it). Hydration is essential anyways because it's good to stay hydrated and does help skin. As far as lotion and stuff, culturally lotion is VERY important because without it you can see how dry our skin is rather than on lighter complexions not so much, but I will say, exfoliating and lotion adds something to the appearance of your skin to help it look better, it won't snap the loose stuff into place, but can help it look better!

  4. My NUT said try straws at week 2 if it's uncomfortable treat it like foods that make you uncomfortable and try at a later time. She says there's no such thing as "stretching the pouch " it's just straws allow air and air hurts in the tiny tummy. I'm almost 2 months post op and use straws daily, but that wasn't the case until roughly a month because they were uncomfortable up til then. I love it because I'm able to drink more Water too.

  5. My surgery weight was 371. I want to point out that I wasn't and still am not a hard-core dieter. I do not do low carb, no carb, and now that I can eat real food, I no longer drink Protein shakes or eat Protein Bars. I follow my NUT's program of eating 5 meals a day every 3 -4 hours - with 3oz of Protein eaten first. I work out with a personal trainer 2x a week and ride my recumbent bike 20 minutes another 2 - 3x a week. I've found that I don't lose weight if I don't get my fluids and Proteins in and also tend to lose more after the days I get my max protein of 90g.

Yeah this week is the first week on solids and I'm doing way better because I've switched to one Protein Bar a day and am able to get the rest from real food, and if I miss some I have gene pro to make it up. I started almost around where you are so that gives me even more hope!

  6. 5 months post RNY
Lost 37 pounds the first month
Lost 9 pounds the second month (had major chest cold for 3 weeks)
Lost 13 pounds the third month
Lost 9.5 pounds the fourth month (had menstrual period for 6 weeks straight)
Lost 13.1 pounds the fifth month so far (17th is date)

When you add it up that's definitely a lot, gives me major hope! What was your surgery weight?
Also sooo interesting I've been seeing people have colds their 2nd month which is something that's happening to me right now and I'm almost 2 months. I wonder if it has anything to do with surgery.

  7. I couldn't have it until 4 weeks out, but I agree...you want it to be as moist as possible. I make mini meatloafs in a cupcake pan. While they taste wonderful they can sit like a ton of bricks. I try and mix in some sour cream and/or picante sauce to give it a little more moisture. It's something that you want to definitely take your time eating. There are times where I can feel that it's going to sit heavy so I'll walk away and come back to finish it. Honestly ground beef is the only thing I've had so far that has been mildly difficult to eat.

Same here, well actually all beef has been rough for me to eat, ground is hit or miss, so I don't even bother most the time.
