    ***5 DAYS POST OP***

What helped me was *I stopped taking pain meds 2 days post op, they also said anesthesia effects our bowls too* but I'm to take two colace a day for a month, walk walk walk helps bowls move, and most importantly Water, it helps more if you're getting your liquids in. I have been able to get mine in since day 3 and by day 4 I've been regularly going ever since (I'm 6 days post op). If you aren't getting liquids in or walking much that could be the problem as well because we need that water and movement to make our bowls get going. Hope this helps! 2. I'm interested what yalls thoughts are as to using sugarfree creamer? And do y'all count decaf coffee toward your liquid goals? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I had SIPS surgery, but part of that is sleeve. I feel the same way. I don't gulp but it is fairly easy for me to get my liquids. I'm able to finish a 20 oz Water bottle in a little over an hour (I see some take an hour to try and get 8 oz. I do have the signs though when I've taken too much at a time or haven't had enough time between my sips I burp a lot sometimes get minor gas pain in my chest, or feel bubbles in my stomach. Decaf coffee and sugarfree creamer

Mine allows for those as well, I do recall my NUT saying anything with no caffeine and is clear can be counted toward liquid Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Yeah my surgeon allows sugar free fudgesicles/popsicles it's definitely a saving grace Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Full liquids starts today!

I still have the pain in my chest when I drink. My stomach (incision area) only hurts when I go from sitting to standing and standing to sitting. Also when I'm trying to move in bed. How about you? * Misty * I'm doing pretty good, I also have a little pain when moving around in bed, coughing, and especially sneezing, but I try to apply pressure while doing these things and it makes it a little better. I don't get pain from drinking just what feels like gas in my chest if I drink too much or too fast, I don't really have much restriction as some I've seen here with getting my liquids. I'm able to finish 20 oz of Water in a little over an hour which I think is odd. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Full liquids starts today!

I was cleared for full liquids after leaving the hospital, my surgeon allows cream Soups strained of all lumps and bumps, cream cereals such as malt-o-meal, and cream of wheat, sf pudding, thick Protein shakes (like premier) and that's about it. I did try to drink premier 1 day post op and it didn't taste the same I hated it, and was extremely too thick to get down. Haven't tried again, let me know how it goes for you! How are you feeling in terms of pain and all that? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Yes I'm on liquids until day 16 *sigh* I'm still trial and error with everything so far the only things I like are sf pudding, fudgesicles, and my crystal light, still trying to find a Protein powder I like because as of now I use GENEPRO but don't know if I should trust it has 30 grams or not. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App My doctor's office recommended a product called unjury. You have to order it from their website, but they deliver quickly. I like them because they have a sample pack for about $21, and you get 2 packets each of their protein shakes, 2 of their chicken broth, and 2 unflavored. The kit also comes with a mixing plastic tumbler and a thermometer. This way I can try it inexpensively. So far, I've tried the soup and it was good! Just a recommendation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Thanks I'll look into that! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  13. I didn't have a burning sensation but a little pain, but I quickly figured out it was because my new pouch didn't really like cold Water. I do better with room temp at warm water (with my herbal teas), also had to find the right amount of sip that didn't give me much pain either. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. Had my surgery on the 23rd, the first day I was in really bad pain (my surgeon said it was probably due to my hernia repair) it was hard at first getting all my fluids in. Yesterday was the first day I was able to get both my fluids and Protein in. I use an unflavored protein and put it in my Water with crystal light, actual shakes are too heavy for me to handle. Today is easier getting fluids down, only complaint right now is sleeping really sucks:/ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Barretts esophagus

I didn't have Bypass I had DS but it's basically a mix of Sleeve and Bypass and mine was done laparoscopically, I don't see why yours wouldn't be. I also didn't think many doctors don't do it laparoscopically. Maybe check with your surgeon and see if there is a different reason why laparoscopically wouldn't work Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. I keep waiting to feel anxious, but I'm not, I'm so happy and excited for this, it's all so surreal that it's finally happening Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. So I'm 2 days postop from DS surgery and I'm finding it hard enough to get my liquids (due to being so fatigued I'm hardly awake) but I notice people say they get between 500-800 calories when is that something you focused on or notice? Seeing as I'm only liquid I'm nowhere near 500 calories (could barely eat pudding) any input is appreciated! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Epic Failure!

Congrats on your weight loss! As for the advice already it's great definitely follow a meal plan. On the other hand it sounds like you have an unhealthy relationship with food still. This site can't give you the help you need to battle the food addiction. I would say your best bet is to get counseling to help with that. We must remember WLS is only a tool, although you're losing now if you continue with the habits you have it is a guarantee you will gain that plus some back. Remember this is a lifestyle change, not a quick fix. Wish you the best! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Lol yeah, the pain was bad at first but I don't really remember because I still was groggy from the anesthesia, now it feels sore but the pain meds help right away. I didn't really have much gas pain though. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
