    Pasta

I Pinterest a lot and found these noodles from a keto recipe. Not sure how they taste seeing that I'm only 2 weeks post op but they're good reviews. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I'm officially 2 weeks post op and can move on from liquids (thank God????). My surgeon skips puréed because they say essentially it's the same because they're allowing soft/moist protein and when you chew chew chew it'll be puréed. I'm nervous but happy, any soft foods y'all ate during this stage so I can add variety??? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Thank you, I'll definitely try some of that, I unfortunately can't have fruits and veggies yet but I love boiled eggs. Do they have to be soft boiled, or is regular boil fine? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I just noticed you had a DS rather than a sleeve, as I did. It may be best to ask your NUT what they suggest. Have they given you a list of foods allowed in this stage? Oh yes I did, but my surgeon gives all his patients pretty much the same plan just the timing of introducing foods is different. I do have a plan, but it just lists Proteins I can have rather than like recipes or meal type ideas, so I figured I'd ask about some and then make it according to what I'm allowed at this point. No one understands!

I swear I could have written this myself, I know exactly how you feel! It's so nice to find someone who understands the whole being alone in a crowded room thing. My friend is kind of like yours, she was overweight, but not nearly as much as I am, and she got sleeved awhile back and has been able to maintain. Some things she can relate to me about but mostly she can't. I find myself trying to explain it to her, but have come to the realization she doesn't understand and never will. Definitely know how you feel Angela! Hang in there though we're both in the step to taking our lives back:) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  10. I had gallbladder issues before I at first had an inflamed gallbladder and that was pain in my back and shoulders went to the dr and they did an ultrasound and diagnosed it. Couple years after I went to the dr with bowel problems and she asked about my gallbladder again and found I had gallstones size of sand. Ended up in the hospital because I had passed one, I was extremely nauseous then all the sudden I had the worst pain I've ever felt in my stomach I couldn't even move. I haven't had it out, but I plan to do so because of surgery and how rapid weight loss effects the gallbladder Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. As said above it wouldn't matter because the job doesn't cover it in their plan. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Leak

Before my surgery my surgeon has his patients sign a paper with all complications that can happen. He pointed out how there are over 90 things that can happen, but very small chances with them including leaks. I guess for me it just came down to if I wanted to be obese for the rest of my short life or get surgery and have that opportunity to live life longer. You just have to figure out if your fears are greater than reality or if you can get over those fears for a chance at a healthy life. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. It must be your job that doesn't include bariatric surgery within their plan. I have UHC and it was covered. Maybe find out if it's your job that doesn't because I'm almost positive UHC does. (I'm also assuming your insurance is through your job.) I know my insurance had certain requirements others with UHC didn't have but it was because my job picked those certain requirements. Giving in to food post op

I know it's hard especially being around food or people eating, but don't give in! I'm 8 days post op so I know how you feel. If anything (and you're feeling up to it and able to get all Protein and liquids in) call your NUT see if you can advanced to the next stage, worst they could say is no. I called mine waiting to hear back but I have had a pretty smooth recovery and have been tolerating my liquids really well since 2 days post op but if she says no then oh well keep going try and keep yourself busy. When you want to nibble drink or if time and situation permit walk, walk around your house, stay strong! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Does anyone on have experience with doing keto once they've hit maintenance? I'm interested because I recently read an article on how long term keto can be harmful to the body Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Common Channel Traditional DS

I'm a week out from surgery I got the modified DS (which I'm sure is the same thing you're talking about because my common channel is longer) but my recovery was really easy. I work and I am in graduate school. I took 2 weeks off of work but honestly could probably go back now, as for school I only needed a week off but could have gone back by my 4th day. My surgeon suggested the switch for me because my weight loss goal, the weight I'm at now (BMI 59.4) and he does test for your metabolism and mine is significantly low. He told me if I were to get the sleeve he doesn't think I would be happy with the results, so I went with the switch. So far my gas is pretty foul smelling (tmi but it's a little like sulfur) but I don't have too much gas, my bm's however aren't smelly at all (that could be due to me still being on liquids). However, I do get pretty fatigued but my body just went through something traumatic so that's expected, but so far I'm very happy with my DS:) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    NOT the easy way out...

It's really funny because people have NO idea about WLS and exactly what it is. I told both my best friends and one has had it, so she's informed but the other, bless her heart, asked me if I look different and can I send her a picture lol I didn't take offense because she's been super supportive as well but she just doesn't get it (as I've already tried to explain what it was) I just told her it's not like I got lipo or a tummy tuck I still have to change the way I eat and exercise this just helps me lose and keep the weight off Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. Doesn't look to be sugar free, the box says it's sweetened with sucrose fructose and other sugar additives, I would avoid this just to be safe. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Restaurants

By the time the burps started it was too late, way to late.I'm just curious because I hear people say that you won't have a full filling, but some have signs of when enough is enough before getting sick Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  24. Ah, gotcha. Yeah I'm looking for something I can put in an actual vape pen, mixed with a nice smelling and tasting liquid. I can't stand the smell of regular pot, makes me cough and gag. I'm really only willing to give this a try if it doesn't smell or taste like pot.I haven't tried smoking post op yet (I'm only 6days) but pre op I smoked out of this vape pen. You buy the battery pack buy itself and the cartridge separately as well. The cartridge has this solid oil like substance with thc and cbd and it screws onto the battery pack and looks like a vape pen. No marijuana smell, though it does have a little smell but nothing too noticeable but definitely doesn't smell like marijuana and it has no taste as well.
